You’ve got to take the compliments where you can find them, and there’s a very good article in the Paisley Daily Express today on Newcastle United.
Conor Newton and Paul Dummett – played great at St. Mirren
It’s announcing the upcoming friendly between the two clubs who play in black and white stripes, Newcastle and St. Mirren, and Newcastle are referred to as the English Giants – I spelled giant with a capital G – it looks better.
Of course two of our youngsters did very well up there on loan last season, Paul Dummett and Conor Newton, and both have been offered deals by both Newcastle and St. Mirren, and they are still to decide who to sign for, with Celtic also said to be interested.
Paul played 36 times with two goals and Conor played 20 times with 3 goals out on loan, and our two lads helped St. Mirren win the Scottish Communities League Cup for the first time ever, beating Hearts 3-2 in the final.
And unfortunately Hearts seem to be struggling financially, as they are finding it hard to pay their players and keep the club afloat, and they could go into bankruptcy (administration) and they have just put all their players up for sale, to try to bring some money in – it’s all so sad.
The friendly game is on Tuesday, July 30th, and the relationships between Newcastle and St. Mirren very good, and hopefully some of our top youngsters can keep going north, to get some first team playing experience in the future.
And Alan Pardew said that he will field a strong side on that day, and we should – because it’s expected to be a sell-out crowd at St. Mirren and the tickets are £15 each.
It’s good that at least some people think we are English Giants – after struggling so much this year in the Premier League, but maybe we can earn that title next year, by fishing in the top six once again in the Premier League.
Here’s the article in the Paisley Daily Express – it’s worth a read – and it’s even better if you believe what you read is in fact true.
Howay The Lads!!
