This is another in our series of pinpointing some talented young players in Europe, who could be targets either now or in the future for Newcastle United.
Simon Tibbling – Swedish U21 midfielder
Today we are highlighting Swedish U21 midfielder Simon Tibbling, who is just 18 years old and plays for Djurgardens IF in Stockholm, as a midfielder.
The Swedish youngster started his career at Grödinge SK in 1999 when he was 5 years old, and he moved to Brommapojkarna in 2005, and then to Djurgardens IF just two years ago, and made his debut in April last year coming on as a sub against Kalmar FF.
Simon has now played 36 times for the Djurgardens IF first team with one goal, and has played for all the Swedish Youth sides, including two appearances for the Swedish U21 side.
On his 18th birthday in September last year Tibbling, who stands 5’7″ tall, signed a first team contract that will keep him at the Stockholm club until 2016.
This lad seems to be a quickly improving youngster, and he doesn’t turn 19 until September.
Here’s some video of the youngster.

Comment #6Seems like he has talent if that video is anything to go by. A 3 year extension for a teenager is rare, even in smaller teams. There must be something about him.

Comment #7Jeff, he is a kid, and why aren’t you tucked up safely in bed by now yourself. I know your 12 and 3/4’s now, but it is getting late, and you have got your paper run in the morning.

Comment #8Jeff I like the idea of the diamond, but keep jonas! His stats last season were something like 1 goal and 0 assists. We all had the same number of assists as jonas if I am correct. I would like to see a big man/little man combo up top. But most certainly need to replace jonas. I would like a wing back formation too. Douglas, colo and mbiwa as the back 3 debuchy and Danton down wings. Tiote sitting with cabaye and sissoko along side and then Carroll and bent (finances dependant if I would like these 2)

Comment #9I wonder which players so far have actual genuine interest in coming or going. As far as I know only aubemeyang representatives have contacted Newcastle so far this summer from reports. And there could quite possibly have been contact with Douglas.
Are there any other actual confirmed reports of contact with representatives with any other player?

Comment #16Further twitter item re Cabaye.
Robin Bairner @RBairner
L’Equipe’s report comes from a “sure source” who works in #Monaco’s medical centre. Would be v surprised if story was run with no foundation

It’s generally considered to be quite reliable.
“Thanks to the principle of protection of journalists’ sources of information to which is attached the newspaper, L’Équipe has produced many important revelations in the world of sport, with several scoops of journalist Ressiot on Lance Armstrong but also information showing all cyclists are doped.” From French wiki.

Comment #20So reassurance on Taylor tiote and colos intention on staying at nufc Is great news. Players are coming out and pledging their future with NUFC. Hope this persuades krul, cisse, Ben arfa, etc to follow the same path as these three!
On the other hand, this rumour that has come from nowhere about cabaye is a bit worrying. But I’m sure he stated he was not interested in a move back to France? Suppose that can all change when theres more money involved especially when you don’t pay tax and you play with the like of falcao and moutinho.

Comment #21Like I say completely out of no where and cabaye may of just f***** off. Shows how secretive NUFCs transfer bussines is though if this is true. Could turn this into a positive and come to the conclusion that NUFC have secretly signed bony Douglas and siem de Jong with the 25mil from the sale of Yohan Cabaye.

Comment #27The only doubt I have about the Cabaye story is that Monaco have just signed JOÃO MOUTINHO ,midfielder, for a reported £22 million. If the story is true it’s just as well the old SJP gates are being re-installed -to keep out the flaming torches and pitchfork brigade.

Comment #32£20M for Cabaye off last season is a great deal.
If it is true, then the club better not wheel out the ‘January signings were the summer ones brought forward’ excuse and get 4-5 top quality players in!
The only thing for me to compensate last season is match our top 5 finish. Does the club have the ambition?
