Do You Want Joe Kinnear As Newcastle’s Director Of Football?

Joe Kinneaer was surprisingly announced yesterday as Newcastle’s new Director of Football, and it seems to have left fans somewhat puzzled about what the role will be, what Joe will do and how it will all work with Alan Pardew – and we didn’t even mention Joe’s fiery temperament.

Sometimes there just isn’t an upside.

I’m an eternal optimist but this news has gutted me because of what it says about how Ashley is running our club.

Well, Joe is certaintly saying all the right things to appease fans of his appointment.

Make the Toon a better and stronger club in regards to players coming in.

Shift all the dead wood out, anyone who is not good enough, goes.

    Keep star players here.

Work closely with Pards and Carr.

He has even sent a message out to us fans, wait for it..

“Tell the fans I’m there, and I’m going to make their team better than it is now, that’s for sure. That’s my message to them.”

Whats happens when you settle in though Joe?

Are you going to behave yourself? Haha.

It’s fine trying to find positives IF they are there, but the fact is he’s been put in charge SOLELY of transfers despite having absolutely no background in scouting and no success in transfer business or dealings and has failed in a DOF role, twice

You say he’s there to give a wake up call, a message if you will
And what would that be?? His tactics are more outdated than pardews and has had no success at any managerial level to back up the sh1te that is endlessly spewing from his mouth

By all means try and find the positives, but those positives become little more than delusion when you have to invent them JFK has never once shown in his career that he can even partially succeed in this role

Yeah, Llambias is further away from dealings, instead we have a man who, when managing Nepal in 1987 claimed to have had to flee the country after the Crown Prince shot his parents, the King and Queen.

Unfortunately for JFK, the King and Queen were shot by the crown Prince, only in 2001, whilst JFK wasn’t(was, but not in his mind) managing Luton to relegation…..

I have no issue with a director of football, but they should be someone who has good CURRENT knowledge of the game, good people skills and can take advice from his scoutting network. JK fills none of these criteria. I can only assume this massive blunder of a PR exercise is to help facilitate AP walking out on his contract rather than being fired. He’s too stubborn for that and will ride it out to the club’s detriment.

We’ve seen it happen in Egypt, Syria and now Turkey. People power. But whenever we talk about fan power everyone gives it the ‘big un’ saying they are going to boycott the match then turns up regardless.
WE have the power. This latest joke is the final straw, we have to WAKE UP as supporters and do something NOW or this will continue.
We have to boycott St James Park for at least 10 matches. This revolution will capture world headlines as i don’t believe its been done before. Season ticket holders also have to boycott, their money may have already been taken but the food and drink bills will be noted as well – more importantly- as their absence. Same with corporate box owners.
We have to do this once and for all. We need to start a movement. Fan strike. Hold non aggressive picket lines, the works. Ashley is not more powerful than the fans or the club. If he doesn’t realise it we MAKE him realise it.

Aye but it’s an ill wind through the Toon.

Reckon he’ll try to sack Pardew by the end of September regardless of results.

We should make sure Pards has a copy of the Tribunal judgement for KK too. Can someone email him a copy ?

At least it is not another NO NEWS day

The club is becoming a joke, ran by idiots who understand business but not football.

    1. Joe kinnear is useless, bad manager who did nothing good for the club

    2. We’ve stuck with a useless manager

    3. We continue to sign French players, not many even start for France and France as a national team have struggled to qualify and then failed miserably at the last 3 major tournaments…even England outperform them these days and people don’t want English players

    4. We have a horrid sponsor which half the players don’t want on their shirts

    5. Nobody at the club sees any need to change this strategy

I don’t mind having a DoF, however I would have thought that someone in that role would have extensive European knowledge, have won things as a manager and has respect from within the game from fellow managers / players…. However someone with the above doesn’t come cheap so we’ve gone for Joe Kinnear.
Much like Pards is the lowest paid manager (basic wages), JFK will be the lowest paid DoF by far……

Listening to JFK’s interview it’s quite hard to see where the line is between him and Pards, one minute he says he’ll only buy people Pards and Carr want and the next is he’ll buy/sell who he thinks is good/not good enough…. have a feeling this will end in disaster personally

Not quite deluded yet Rotonda but puzzled by the appointment. Not the DoF per se but Joe Kinnear, the man who has been as close to football as me for the last few years.

His while demeanour worries me and all I can hope is that if Ashley’s using him as a tool to force Pardew out, then he’s got somebody lined up to slot straight in. Can’t see it though

As to why the appointment, I have a feeling that Patdew’s been banging on about wanting experience brought in (eg Bent), and there’s possibly been differences between Pardew and Carr, he’s brought Joe K in to support Ashley’s policy of buying young talent.

Not the best of appointments in my opinion, the upside for Ashley being he can trust Kinnear, who appears to be both provocative and abraisive. Would I want him to represent my business? Can’t answer that I’m afraid.

Reading all these conspiracy theories about kinnear reminds me of life in Germany in the 1920-30s. And the fact he forced himself in charge at Luton after he was DOF is all the more worrying.

Yo – re your question on last thread.

I dont believe JK is the technical coach we are after. All the talk says we are overhauling our coaching staff, and having a new DOF – whoever that may be, does not equal an overhaul!

Kinnear has nothing to do with coaching, so I still expect movement.

We are a laughing stock across the footballing world this sunny summers day
Still we have much to look forward ,entertainment guaranteed at our expense already had texts from manc, scouse and Mackems friends taking the p no change there then
As for boycotting games not a chance !
It really does not matter to the vast majority as was proved last year when 52000 regularly turned up to watch absolute dross and sat quietly believing in our leadership team
In life you get what you deserve ,by sitting on our hands and giving Ashley and his motley crew a chance we have missed any small hope of facilitating change
Sit back and strap your self in this is going to be one rough ride

Will someone please wake me up and tell that this is a nightmare !
He is in charge over Pardew, it doesn’t matter who Pardew wants to buy or sell, it’s solely down to Kinnear, training methods, the lot, Pardew can pick the team, that’s his lot, and how long will he have that responsibility.
I’ve been saying for a while, that we should be careful of what we wish for, so to all those who wanted Pardew sacked, you’ve got your wish, I hope your proud of yourselves.
Just how will Pardew react to the public embarrassment which he has been dealt, he will be off.

Whats your view on all these french players we are after or linked with?

I don’t see much of the french league but seen quite a bit of them in international football. They constantly get outperformed by England for the last 5/6 years and people here claim english players aren’t good enough for us.

I think the french players who are on the fringe of the national side, or not in it at all, can’t be up to much.

Think we need to be looking for a better standard if we want to push on.

King Kev had it right it is a nightmare. Only way things will change in the long run is to stay away don’t buy the season tickets and cheaply made shirts make this goon realize he cannot keep throwing us this dogmess every season he needs to be humiliated like we have been in his tenor. Bolton fans stood against that sponsorship and rightly so good lads we have more than just that to worry about with this bafoon. The real fans now will go through one last pain stay away don’t let him do this again and then we will win

Well the simple fact is in football now is that you get what you pay for…same as anything.

If you want the top people in the profession then you need to make sure you pay top wages and top fees.

Sure you can always get the odd bargain, and you can still get good players on a budget but it’s not good having a 60k wage cap and only offering that to 1 o 2 players.

You need a good 8/9 players of that standard.

I personally won’t buy a new shirt, i wont buy another ticket….i’m not spending anywhere between 2-45 pound just to watch some dour football when dortmund fans spend a tenner to watch some of the best stuff in europe.
