Joe Kinnear will move to Newcastle at the end of this week, and we’re convinced he will give an interview – likely to be a long interview – on nufcTV – but hopefully he will tell us all what he’s going to be doing – and that should be interesting.
Graham Carr – still a vital clog on Tyneside – will work closely with Kinnear
Joe knew Chris Hughton when he moved in as manager, and he says he’s also known Graham Carr for 20 years and that the two of them work really well and Joe has been meeting and talking with Graham over the last three days.
This is what Joe said today:
“I’ve been with Graham for the last three days.” “We’ve discussed all the French players and contacts that Graham knows, the players he’s brought in and we’re very happy together.”
“I have known Graham for something like 20 years. He was at Tottenham.” “I know he has a good eye for a player and good contacts. We will go and see as many of these players in action and we will get in as many games as we possibly can.”
“Once we see something that we think is in our budget, we will go for them. It is as simple as that.” “On the other side, if we see things that we believe are not Newcastle, and not good enough for Newcastle, then I will shift them. It is as simple as that.
“I do not want anybody there who is not good enough for Newcastle.”
Hopefully Joe will provide some driving force in bringing some good players to Newcastle – and will work closely with Graham Carr and with Alan Pardew on assessing the strengths of weaknesses of players that are being scouted.
That also goes for players who are already at the club and we now expect more players to leave Newcastle this summer, because as Joe said this morning – “we cannot have mediocre players at a massive club like Newcastle.”
We kind of like that statement.
