Yohan Cabaye – Monaco Move Might Interest Everyone

9:24 am, Monday, June 17th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 34 Comments

Yohan Cabaye has certainly not quelled the rumors that he may be moving to Monaco this summer, after there was a false report a couple of days ago that he had even passed his medical at the French League club.

Yohan Cabaye – Monaco might interest everyone

Sky Bet have suspended all betting on which club Cabaye will likely move to after some big bets were placed on the 22 times French International moving to Monaco, but it’s not clear whether those punters knew of something really happening or not.

Cabaye is almost definitely on Monaco’s hit list for the summer, and when asked about their interest in the Sun today – this is what Yohan said:

“Monaco have the means to build a strong team,” “It might interest everyone.”

Monaco have already brought in three players for a total cost of  £110M – Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez – Michel Platini – UEFA President – where are you?

The Russian Billionaire in charge at Monaco since November of 2011, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has also added former Chelsea and real Madrid veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho – who has massive experience.

Dmitry Rybolovlev is making a mockery of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, where clubs are only supposed to spend what they make as a club – so how come Monaco have so much money to spend, after being down in the French second division for two years?

It’s the Russian’s money of course, but if the FFP rules are going to work, then  the UEFA President should at least contact the Russian and remind him that clubs who fail to balance their books in a year or two will not be allowed to play on Europe.

Monaco’s aim is to qualify for the Champions League as soon as possible – and it seems by any means possible.

If Monaco can come up with £25M for the Newcastle play-maker we think he will leave, although our new Director of Football Joe Kinnear says he’s confident the player will remain on Tyneside.

Cabaye has played 73 times for Newcastle in the two seasons he’s been on board, and has 11 goals and 11 assists – and although he did not play well over the last three months of the season, the former Lille man is still a very good player for Newcastle.

What do you think?

Meh kinnear would easly be able to pick a replacement, sick of carr just bying merconories who use this club as a stepping rock

Bring in real fight get bent and carroll

  • 2 NUFCarter // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:30 AM

Joe kinnear will be in the media every hour of every day of every week spouting his ‘knowledge’. He will need to speak to Carr and Pardew and get some top players by July. Pause the arragonce and get straight on into it!

  • 3 Toon-Prodigy // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:31 AM

Kinnear reckons some fans may give him grief.

“I can handle grief, I can take grief”. He says.

Joe, I seriously hope you are carrying a portable Defibrillator around with you.

You havn’t seen grief until you have seen it go off up here bonnie lad.

If we fail up until Christmas and he is hoisted in I’ll give him 6-8 months until he is off.

Obviously, I’d love to see it all work out.

Yo – Thanks mate. I took plenty of flack last night re kinnear – as if I had hired the bloke himself. But hey…that’s life on the blog. :-)

Sage – I’ve lost count on the amount of players we are linked with?! Do you have names I cam refer too, mate?

i hope that’s sarcasm because only idiots would suggest bringing in rubbish injury prone players like Carroll & bent and also how the hell has Carr bought in mercenaries he bought in 1 player who wanted to leave for more money and that’s Ba

  • 6 Sawbuck // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:36 AM

Ashley is rebuilding the Crazy Gang. He must calculate that a redneck freak show will appeal to a bigger audience than a local fanbase. I bet he’s signed a profit share deal with wonga, they thrive on trouble and contention.

    Black and white
Saying a player who left to play for the European champions and is garuteed to constantly play in Europe and be in and around the top 3/4 left purely for money is equally as stupid as Jeffs comment tbf

  • 8 WWYCD // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:38 AM

Aye I read some of it mate bit over the top really but hey least u weren’t labelled a mackem yet haha

Anyone asked about moving to Monaco would say the same wages trebled and far less tax whilst playing for a team who are building a fantastic team right now not for the future be daft not to be interested in it

  • 9 rainrix // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:39 AM

Jeff has finally outed himself as a troll with that comment.

  • 10 Lilongwe Geordie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:40 AM

Hopefully we are still looking at coaches. My positivity though is beginning to wane. It took a hit when we decided to keep Pardew, and it has been dealt a nearly fatal blow with this news.

From your thoughts, saying we were in talks with a couple and moving that along, where does this appointment leave us? Has he already given the go ahead on players? Or is all the work done between Jan and now redundant as JFK has to make the final call?

  • 11 NUFCarter // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:40 AM

    Black and white
Jeff is 12 is been posting stupid comments all week to purposely annoy some of the bloggers.

  • 12 TorqToon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:40 AM

B&W – Ba left to sign for the European champions mate. Pushing for league honours, and playing alongside some of the world’s best.

Whilst he did pick up a pay raise, I’m not sure he can be called a mercenary!

  • 13 Transfer Sage // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:44 AM

just any of the french lads really…benzema has a good club record, so does ribery…after that your looking to nasri, cabaye, etc and their records at club level are modest…so the rest can’t be great.

As far as cabaye goes he can leave, been poor…either his fault or pardews…either way he doesn’t seem to be working, get some money and spend it well.

  • 14 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:46 AM

Do you much about young lad we’ve signed from Metz??
People seem to be struggling to even name his position!!!

    Sack Transfer sage

  • 16 TorqToon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:47 AM

Yo – I’m sure its only a matter of time until “Torq is a makem” returns to the blog. It was a bit out of order. I told everybody 2 weeks ago that we were overhauling our coaching staff with personnel to change our playing style. Which was true. I never mentioned about a DOF as I had no idea that’s what Ashley was looking at. But hey, as I said yesterday, I’m not about to go into hiding.

Lilo – I believe JK is over talking his role in the club somewhat. I dont think for one minute MA will give up control of transfers to JK. I do still believe things will progress this week, but (even though he will…!) JK won’t be able to take any praise, as all Work has been done prior to his appointment.

  • 17 Indian Magpie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:48 AM

from what i have read and written

An ttacking MF can play wings or No10 oralonside some one in a 2

Not as an out and out Striker

  • 18 Indian Magpie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:49 AM

From What i have researched on Kemen

  • 19 NUFCarter // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:50 AM

I’m pretty sure you don’t pay any tax in Monaco. I’m surprised messi ain’t interested. But yeah who wouldn’t.

  • 20 naptoon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:51 AM

jfk has said he wont be sold and neither will any of our better players … we will see. if cabs wants away tho personally id get rid he suffers from depression so we couldnt do a coloccini with him.

  • 21 Indian Magpie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:51 AM

From What you have said previously, The possibility of an Tech. advisor still reamains a possibility, Doesn’t it?

    JFK is only DOF

  • 22 naptoon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:52 AM

french nationals who play for monaco have to pay tax

  • 23 Lilongwe Geordie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:52 AM

Good to hear. I think we all know JK likes to flap his gums, the amount of rubbish he talks is incredible. I think he will be the new club spokesman though. I don’t expect anything official out of the club.

We could do with making a few top signings, as soon as possible now, otherwise this ill feeling will fester and that will only spell trouble for everyone connected with the club. I was happy to be patient before, but I feel we as fans need a boost and soon.

  • 24 Transfer Sage // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:53 AM

seen dhawan is going well now.

  • 25 WWYCD // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:53 AM

Haha I can set it off if u want am sure Ibiza would join in haha. Aye mate u got the brunt of it but people always need to vent their anger somewhere and because u said about changing times u got it in the neck…not sure where the logic in that is but hey anger rarely follows a logical route

  • 26 Toon-Prodigy // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:54 AM

Interesting points made by Luke Edwards talking to TalkSport.

With Joe saying, if I see someone who isn’t good enough, i’ll move them on. What happens if pards says well hold on he is in my plans? We bought him?

Strange appointment, how can this work? Fair enough bringing in players to recruit as a job role, but shifting players on is madness. Pardew is no more than a first team coach really.

  • 27 NUFCarter // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:54 AM

Haha ‘even though he will’ I can see it now. NUFC announce siem de Jong, Douglas and PEA signing. Kinnear will be all over that in the media stating how he completed the final steps to make sure these transfers were completed and that he agreed on signing them.

  • 28 naptoon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:55 AM

ha ha torq is a mackem
who said that this blog is comedy gold sometimes … there has been some brilliant posts in the last dark 24 hrs

  • 29 Indian Magpie // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:55 AM

    Transfer Sage

Never Thought he would be this good

  • 30 NUFCarter // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:57 AM

I wonder what joe thinks of guiterez? What if he wants to move him on because he’s not up to standard? Pardew would really kick up sh*t then! Oh god it doesn’t look good…..

  • 31 TorqToon // Jun 17, 2013 at 9:58 AM

    Tads – Olivier Kemen.

Terrific talent. I would say he is an attacking midfielder / striker, but not out and out forward as some suggest. Probably the modern day No.10 role.

He is thought of very highly over here, and is considered as one of France biggest young talents. Obviously its very early days for the lad, and he is going into our development squad, but it’s a good sign of intent if we are looking to this calibre of youth player.

Not sure what the compensation we are paying amounts too, but it could be anything up to or around the million pound Mark.

  • 32 sparky55 // Jun 17, 2013 at 10:01 AM

Nope…I’ve checked me’s not April fool it’s not a bad dream…Ashley must be p!ssing himself laffin’ at all this…this is his revenge on the fans who initially forced him out of Newcastle.

All Ashley wants is a premiership side to advertise Sports Direct. There is no emotional attachment whatsoever…this is just another business.

He spent whatever he spent in January purely and simply to keep newcastle up and pardew was so inept he nearly screwed that one up but survive we did.

The problem now is the good players in the team don’t want to play under pardew anymore and Pardew staying = purples going so this is Ashleys ploy to sort this out…He wants Pardew out before the transfer silly season starts so he can reassure his good players to stay…

The only flaw in this scenario is when pardew goes, who would want to join newcastle as a manager under the existing structure so does that leave JFK as the only managerial candidate for the future???

IMO I think someone is already lined up replace Pardew but we shouldn’t hold out any great expectation as to their pedigree should we!

    Farcical springs to mind…

and if JFK thinks him joining the toon backroom staff will stop Cabs going he’s got another thing coming…the revolving door at the players entrance at SJP will be spinning like fury for the next 12 weeks…enjoy the ride!

  • 33 numba9 // Jun 17, 2013 at 10:06 AM

Too many cooks and all that. Their should be one boss at a club like wenger. Fergie. Keegan Robson etc

  • 34 Greebol1892 // Jun 17, 2013 at 11:20 AM

JFK should get rid of players like Mark Williams, Dan Gosley, and Gary Overton. Not to mention Sam Anemone, Barry Ferguson, and Alan Cambridge away on loan.
Keep his boss Mark Ashford & David Lembaswafer happy!
