There’s still no official announcement about Joe Kinnear coming from Newcastle, but that hasn’t stopped Steven Taylor from coming out and expressing his delight that Joe is returning to the club.
Steven Taylor – excited to see Joe back at Newcastle
This is what 27 year-old Taylor has told Sky Sports:
“I am really happy to see Joe back at the club and I think his return can only be positive for everyone connected to the club.” “Welcome back: Steven Taylor is pleased to see Kinnear back at Newcastle.”
“Joe was great for me when he was manager and I really enjoyed playing for him.” ‘We were in a great position under Joe in the league, until he got ill and it was after that that things went wrong.” ‘
“Joe wears his heart on his sleeve and he tells it as it is and I think he is someone that Newcastle exactly need.” “Joe has lots of experience and he is very knowledgeable and I for one am really excited to see him back at Newcastle.”
We’re not too surprised to hear that from Steven, and looking back at some of our reports when Joe was manager at the club, the players loved him, because he got them into that bunker type of mentality that everybody was against them.
So we think Joe will be welcomed back by the likes of Coloccini, Gutierrez, and the two Taylors, and others who were at the club when Joe was managing back in late 2008 and early 2009, but exactly what our new foreign players will make of him – we have our doubts – and he’ll have to learn how to pronounce their names correctly – as job one.
Joe brought in Kevin Nolan, Ryan Taylor and Mike Williamson in January of 2009, and all three of those deals were good ones for the club, and he sold Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia (sometimes known as Charles Insomnia) for around £14M for the two – so that was good business, although Joe didn’t want to lose Shay.
And when Joe took sick in February of 2009, just before the game at WBA (we won 3-2), the plan was to put Kinnear as the long term manager, with Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood as the two assistants – but as it turned out, Chris and Colin got the job done brilliantly, when they got us promoted from the Championship at our very first attempt.
And then Chris was fired – but that’s another story.

If you dont look good against tahiti then i doubt theres much hope for you! Haha but he might be decent but hardly the calibre we need plus his name is just asking for JK to make another massive faux pa.

Comment #42ginger…IMO no chance…JFK has already said he wants a seasoned premiership goalscorer who can get us 15 goals a season…that’s Bent and/ or Carroll

Comment #50You’ve only got yourselves to blame. For weeks, neigh months, Most of you have been screaming out for Pardews head. So Ashley thinks up a dastardly plan. Now Pardew and Llambias have almost instantly become the good guys and in a way this unites the fans by allowing JFK to become one big fat scapegoat to hate. With the threat of this lunatic waiting in the wings, those who were against Pardew are now forced to bite the bullet and hope he stays for fear of what happens if he doesn’t!

Comment #53How on Earth is this a good thing? Can we just hire him as a cheerleader and motivational speaker? How on Earth is he going to work with our brain trust? I know our results weren’t as good this year as we would have hoped, but we must stick to our system, hunt for bargains, and improve the squad. Pardew and Carr are high IQ managers and scouts. Kinnear is a blowhard who isn’t particularly intelligent. This is not going to end well.

Ahahaha! Fair point about the name. He looked good, for example he tore apart there defense numerous times he just kept being ball greedy and losing the ball in the end. He has got a 1 in 2 goal scoring record for Kiev.

I don’t think our transfer policy will change much regarding signing foreign strikers. I think we will be back in for Carroll sadly as before it was Graham Carr saying that Carroll wasn’t good enough, but JFK has already stated from now on it’ll be if two of them agree. I sense a lot of teaming up on Graham Carr from JFK and our mighty Pardew.
On the other hand, Carroll and Bent haven’t been 15 goal a season Premier League Strikers for a while now.

Comment #64So basically Pardews 3rd in command.
If he’s got any respect for himself he’ll just walk away.
That’s probably the whole masterplan behind this appointment in my opinion.

Comment #67I can’t see how people are defending this appointment! Defend the role yes, but we needed a cool, quiet, level – headed modern thinking expert in. Not an old, inexperienced, delusional, attention seeking idiot in! It’s a damn travesty!

Comment #68Wow, on BBC sport the headline is kinnear hits back at NUFC fans – we really are a laughing stock. 🙁
To be fair I for one would understand any player who wants to leave NUFC now. I wouldn’t want to play under Pardew, kinnear, llambias and Ashley knowing that there ruining the club and players careers. (well I would because I will always love NUFC and I’d bloody reject Barcelona what ever state NUFC are in,in favour to stay but if I was cabaye for instance I’d be insulted and want to leave asap!)

Comment #69My favourite part of JFK’s rant…..
Bird: What happened at your meeting with Ashley?
JK: At the meeting I was asked how did it go, what reception, this that and the other. I told him not too clever. He wanted to know how the team done. I told him. Better second half than we were first half. I asked him what is the situation. Any news or updates on what is going one. He said I have six to eight consortium lined up and that is all I can tell you. That was it.
Bird: Have you met Mike before?
JK: No
Bird: Not even at the Orange Tree pub, Totteridge?
JK: You want to get your facts right. Dennis Wise never played under me.
Bird: None of us have even written that…
JK: Another one of you wrote. We met in a pub. We are friends in a pub and that is when it was done, in a pub. Good imagination eh? It is nonsense.
Will I get time and get judged on results?
Steve Brenner (Sun): We are all grown men and can come in here and sit around and talk about football, but coming in here and calling people c—?
Wow just wow

Comment #76Now that’s what the club should have done in the first place -a short concise statement making the announcement – and those involved ie JK – should have been told no unauthorised statements/contacts with the press.
The Toon have shot themselves in the foot again with very poor corporate sensibility -lack of PR awareness. They have allowed this pantomime farce to get out of hand -causing embarrassment to the club, Newcastle and the North East -not just nationally but worldwide. We are the laughing stock of the football world.

Comment #78Put it in perspective lads…he’s not replaced pardew as manager (although I wish someone would) and he knows the game much better than Lambias and he won’t defend players such as Obertan who Pardew used to and who we all agree is simply just not good enough. We have a load of sub standard players at newcastle so why not let him sort that out and see what happens.

Comment #80He shouldnt have said it but tbf to kinnear he is right most fans dont have a clue what they are talking about and do believe everything the media say. I dont see how this is going to affect pardew kinnear is doing the same job as lambazey was if anything it might help pards because he now has a football man in the role.
