There’s still no official announcement about Joe Kinnear coming from Newcastle, but that hasn’t stopped Steven Taylor from coming out and expressing his delight that Joe is returning to the club.
Steven Taylor – excited to see Joe back at Newcastle
This is what 27 year-old Taylor has told Sky Sports:
“I am really happy to see Joe back at the club and I think his return can only be positive for everyone connected to the club.” “Welcome back: Steven Taylor is pleased to see Kinnear back at Newcastle.”
“Joe was great for me when he was manager and I really enjoyed playing for him.” ‘We were in a great position under Joe in the league, until he got ill and it was after that that things went wrong.” ‘
“Joe wears his heart on his sleeve and he tells it as it is and I think he is someone that Newcastle exactly need.” “Joe has lots of experience and he is very knowledgeable and I for one am really excited to see him back at Newcastle.”
We’re not too surprised to hear that from Steven, and looking back at some of our reports when Joe was manager at the club, the players loved him, because he got them into that bunker type of mentality that everybody was against them.
So we think Joe will be welcomed back by the likes of Coloccini, Gutierrez, and the two Taylors, and others who were at the club when Joe was managing back in late 2008 and early 2009, but exactly what our new foreign players will make of him – we have our doubts – and he’ll have to learn how to pronounce their names correctly – as job one.
Joe brought in Kevin Nolan, Ryan Taylor and Mike Williamson in January of 2009, and all three of those deals were good ones for the club, and he sold Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia (sometimes known as Charles Insomnia) for around £14M for the two – so that was good business, although Joe didn’t want to lose Shay.
And when Joe took sick in February of 2009, just before the game at WBA (we won 3-2), the plan was to put Kinnear as the long term manager, with Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood as the two assistants – but as it turned out, Chris and Colin got the job done brilliantly, when they got us promoted from the Championship at our very first attempt.
And then Chris was fired – but that’s another story.

Comment #84Anyone who ever wondered what Mike Ashley really thinks of this club and it’s fans have heard it now. From the mouth of Joe Kinnear. We are becoming the North Korea of football. Dysfunctional and completely loopy.

Comment #85I’m with Pardew on this (if true) , he’s taken stick for being crap but he doesn’t deserve to be undermined by this idiot. If it were Gerard Houllier who would respect and work alongside Pardew it would be perfect, someone who is respectable and knowledgable. Not this joke who will milk the limelight and allow his ego to take charge. Despicable decision.

What logic are you using to base that he knows more about the modern game than llambias out of interest?
This is a truly shocking appointment and the only person who will be replacing pardew is this tool

What have we done?………………someone really needs to explain to me just what the hell we have ever done for Ashley to enforce this pile of utter shyte on us?
We are all passionate. We all love this club with every fiber of our being, It means everything to us…………and yet this utter idiot of an owner keeps visiting the scrap heap of football and employing these washed up husk’s of men who have never achieved anything in their careers!
Employing Kinnear the first time was a joke….but Ashley had to take that a step further by giving us the genius that is Alan Pardew and now just when we think that things can’t get any worse we are giving the second coming of JFK.
This is becoming a sick joke that only Ashley finds to be funny

I’m warming to Joe. I like what he is saying. He clearly has been brought in to shake things up.
The debacle to get Remy over the line nearly cost us our position in the premiership and millions of lost revenue.
I can see Ashley’s point of view in that he must be thoroughly cheesed off having provided the money for the players that Carr and Pardew had idendified and then Llambias and Charnley let Remy go to QPR. If Remy had played for us I’m sure we would not have been in such a perilous state. It looks like slap on the wrists / sideways demotion for all the above.
If Sir Bobby, who had a habit of mispronunciation and getting faces and names mixed up, had said what Joe had said would there be such an outcry? I bet not. If Joe was a Geordie would there be such an outcry? I bet not. Has Joe said anything as bad as what Shepherd said about his star player, Geordie women and people of Newcastle? No, he hasn’t.
I find it rather ironic that many fans on this blog and other blogs are complaining about Joe’s mispronunciation when they themselves can’t write the names correctly of many of the main characters at the club.

Comment #91Think People need to calm down on here. Sparky 55 made a valid point and people have jumped all over. SBR use to get names mixed up. It was also the fans who turned on SBR and called for his head.
As for bashing Saylor if the club sold him most of the people on here calling him would then be saying it is a disgrace. People have a short memory on here and when Charlie Zog was sold he was called a mercenary.
All this in fighting is exactly what the press love. As for an empty stadium SJP has had no atmosphere for years.

Comment #93Unbelievable Tekkers – Go boil your head in shame after that comment! I know hundreds of fans who are far smarter than you if your comment is anything to go by. None of them believe the media, they are constantly grumbling at how inaccurate they are!
It’ll effect Pardew immensely if this mug Is ringing up whatever news desk will answer every 5 minutes to chip in and feed his uncontrollable ego.
I for one hope Pardew mans up and has a dig and doesn’t accept it with gritted teeth grace.

Comment #95TDS…ask me one on sport why don’t you!…Lambias is a casino operator/ accountant and JFK a footballer come manager with international experience…
…and if you’re gonna try a trip me up on the ‘modern game’ aspect…just because you’re not employed in the game doesn’t mean you’re not keeping involved and watching what’s going on in the game.

Just because JFK has come in here and insulted llambias by suggesting the fans would rather after him then Derek as DOF and calling him llambeezee is unacceptable. I have feelIng he was forced to resign as DOF and take the financial role and had no say in JFKs appointment. As much as I dislike the man I feel a little bit sorry for him (a little).
As for Pardew I can’t imagine he thinks JFKs appointment is great news and he must think he’s gonna force himself into a manager like role. He’s already said he will be travelling on the first team coach. Now did llambias do that???

Comment #102Cannot believe the defense of this man on here. This club had gone to the dogs and deservedly so after the docile demeanor of the fans has all but allowed the club to become the largest joke in the league. So many things spouted from his mouth in the last 2 days highlight his complete ineptitude for the position he has undeservedly found himself in.

Comment #106Yohan Cabab? I was in awe at the interview!
The insomnia incident begins, he is disgraceful in public. I have no doubt he is football knowledge, you would with the amount of time he has spent in the game, but he is a fossil.
Anyone brought forward i.e. Belhanda will be compared to Vinne Jones and therefore no ‘agreement’ will be made among the Three Musketeers. I know that is harsh on Carr, but seriously?!
My dog has better knowledge of CURRENT football than Kinnear, the proof is in the interview. He mentioned about 5-6 players and half of them his pronounced incorrect.
Even Lambias, he made him sound like elf bread from Lord of the Rings!
In awe….. literally! I cannot see what is going on behind the scenes.

Comment #107So, has Joe Kinnear been tracked down and sectioned yet? What? He’s actually been appointed…… oh…………ohhhh – only at Newcastle. Just another instance of the regime defecating on the fans below from a great height! No worries, it’ll blow over in a few days without any significant upheaval.

Comment #108NUFCarter…. I doubt that llambias had no input in getting kinnear in. Llambias is still managing director, contrary to what JK has told us and until we heard differently. Llambias will simply be slipping away from the limelight which is likely what he’s wanted for a while. As for kinnears comments on llambias well thats the risk they took really. Llambias is probably delighted he can pick up a giant wage without having to deal with the fans and media.
I actually didn’t mean pardew also, just llambias. I agree with you there i feel sorry for him. Probably should’ve specified 🙂

Comment #119Also his facts are all over…. his own personal achievements?!
3 Manager of the Years? Try 1!! When he finished 6th Wimbledon, no small feat but he has not won it another 2 times?
He signed Krul, try Graeme Souness? He signed in 2005, he even played against Palermo in the EL!!
This guy just dreams things, then creates his own reality!
Seriously?! he doesnt even project a decent image, how did he convince anyone to hire him?!
As for his “we would have not went down” had he been manager the year of relegation. YES he did leave when we were in 12th position, but he won 4 games!!! 4!! in 18 games!
The only good thing he may/may not have done it really depends on if he actually had any say was the signing of Kevin Nolan during his time in charge. It was merely days after though he was forced to resign though so who knows how much say he actually had in that transfer!
Yet he did manage to part exchange R Taylor for NZogbia and sell Given.
Top notch job if you ask me, our better players at the time. This guy is a joke!
Cannot defend the club on this one mind.

OOOOHHHHH YYYYYEEEAAAHHHH!!
I don’t give a rats a$$ about JFK, we just qualified for the World Cup!!
JFK will go away Ito his office when things calm down, wait till 2 September and hope he is simply somebody behind the scenes and off travelling with Carr hitting games and pubs. He is obviously an idiot but give it a week to blow over and we can concentrate on more important things like looking if we have changed our style in the friendlies, progress of some of the kids and stuff like that. Long preseason ahead, JFK jumped the gun and wanted to put himself in the media. But I tell you what it has created, attention, in an embarrassing way you will say, but headlines create interest so many will now be looking at NUFC with keen interest. I’m saying I want him, I hate the guy, would prefer Pards in the DoF role as a worst case, it is very frustrating, but surely there is a considerable plan here.
