With the shock announcement of Derek LLambias resigning from his position announced just about 30 minutes ago on the Newcastle web-site, we wonder if there are more changes in the offing at Newcastle.
These two ran Newcastle for over five years
The Chairman or Chief Executive at the club is in charge of the financial side of things, and is usually a businessman who has had experience in finance and running a business, and gets involved with the commercial side of the club.
Since that’s hardly Joe Kinnear, and we would expect somebody else to be appointed as the Chief Executive at Newcastle, and if that happens it’s a good question as to what the organization structure would be, and whether Joe Kinnear, Alan Pardew and Graham Carr would all report into the new Chief Executive.
That would seem to be a more workable structure, and would certainly give Alan Pardew more leeway to keep doing his job as the manager or coach of the club.
As we mentioned earlier, if Derek LLambias is not replaced, it may still make things easier for Alan Pardew, because Joe will be too busy carrying out other duties to interfere too much with the coaching side of the club – which is Alan Pardew’s responsibility as manager.
We’d be surprised if the structure remains the same as it currently is, and somebody else isn’t brought in, but we’ve been wrong before, and we’ve been shocked before, and we have already had two big surprises this week, so maybe there are more about to come.
And with no word at all from Alan Pardew and just 15 days to go before pre-season training starts, we wonder what his status is at Newcastle.
