News coming from the Evening Chronicle that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will remain at the Tyneside club, and work with Joe Kinnear in his new role as Director of Football.
Alan Pardew – staying at Newcastle
As far as stability is concerned that’s good news, and who knows maybe Alan will get on well with Joe Kinnear – you never know – they are both Cockneys after all.
Alan gave the Chronicle a short message today:
“I am staying – to take the club up the league.”
And since pre-season training starts in two weeks time, at least we’ll be in better shape than we were four years ago following relegation.
That’s when the players returned to pre-season, and we didn’t have a permanent manager, as Alan Shearer had not been appointed as the manager (as had been expected) that summer.
So Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood took the training on that first day, and to cut a long (very long) story short, they had Newcastle promoted a short ten months later, and we were back in the big time again.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the same could happen now, and Newcastle could be a top six club next May.
It’s possible – and we have to keep believing.
Don’t we?
I have to leave for a few hours for an important Doctor’s appointment – maybe when I get back we’ll have a new owner? 😀

Comment #82All Joe knows is football pure and simple
So no media skills rabbit in the headlights and going off on one etc.
But hes hired for footballing reasons alone.
SD sourced financial director to manage the money – no problem with that
Does this mean last minute kit/sponsorship change in the offing?
It could actually make APs life and lot a better one. No restrictions if the targets are right, Douglas was only a target because he was cheap he is way down on a list from GC according to a few sources on here. 1 year wasted on a plan hamstrung by unnecessary financial constraints. Losing Remy and then sign 5 shows MA is thinking about possible success after avoiding relegation.

Comment #83Joe Kinnear is clearly a plain speaking guy. What has he actually done wrong, swore a few times at Journalists (Scum), so what, got a few names wrong, people are precious these days eh, who gives a f#ck.
If the quality of the signings are good this summer and Pardew still plays his negative brand of shite then he will get the bullet as JFK is not his pal. I imagine Del Boy and Pards have been pulling the wool over Big Mikes eyes, no more, the bullet is imminent and I for one welcome a change.
Clearly Mike trusts Joe to tell him the truth, the truth goes a long way eh.

Ashley wants Carr to trawl the European market for value and due to this he must have access to his views hence Llambias is on his bike and Kinnear in to mediate between Carr and Ashley.
Newcastle must adopt the continental model in order to bring The best out of our French players and play a modern game, for this reason Pardew will have to learn to play that way and remember he is only a part of the recruitment team and not in total control of it.
The manager needs to bring out the best in team but must buy into the football philosophy the owner wants to achieve success on the pitch.
Pardew was let down last season because Carr’s potential recruits didn’t come into the club till January and left Pardew with little chance to integrate them into a modern European team.
Pardew will get his chance to do that soon and if he fails will have to walk.
Kinnear will also have to follow Carr’s recommendations because Ashley wants highly skilled modern footballers for value and so the continental approach adopted.
That’s my take on it mate.
Any news on a coach or recruits or are we back to square one?5

Comment #86Check, He also told a pack of lies and slagged off the supporters. Your probably correct though that MA does trust him.. If you get what your hoping for and Pardew is out this season he will also be our next manager. I hope you think it is worth it.

Comment #88If that gob shite jfk has pulled the plug on Douglas but will listen to G.C.then we may get Mamadou Sakho,Siem de Jongh, and PEA after all.But if he tries to throw his weight around then I fear the worst. He’s so far up his own backside it’s untrue.
I’m all for Ashley taking control of negotiation’s as he did well in January.Maybe this whole mess may just work out.

he slagged off the fans who he knew would slag him off from his last tenure i think joe believes in the philosophy of attack being the best form of defence haha – hopefully he can transmit that belief to pards when it comes to tactics on the field

Comment #90wolfshead, do you remember the football under JFK when he was manager last time. The bloke has only worked for 6 months out of the last 8 years. Do you honestly think if he was not mates with MA he would ever get another job in football? Nobody else would touch him with a bargepole.

Comment #92it’s funny how much the anger at Pardew over the last few months has completely disappeared within a few days…
I don’t think Kinnear is here to replace Pardew, he’s here because Llambias was obviously a shit negotiator and had no football knowledge (Pardew said it was impossible to get money out of him) whereas JFK must have a tiny bit.
The real issue is on the playing side and if Pardew can buck his own trend and go back to doing well in his 3rd season then there isn’t a problem. I don’t think the transfer/finance side of things has anything wrong with it.

Comment #97I will reserve judgement on all these changes, in the hope that everything turns out well. Currently though I do believe that bringing in JFK cannot be a good thing. I hope Beattie’s comments turn out to be near the truth regarding the circumstances of JFK’s appointment and DL’s departure. Currently I suspect that the club will have me in tears, not tears of mirth or joy either. I hope I’m wrong.

Comment #98JK’s appointment is a result of DL’s inadequacies. Not just in recruitment but also in financial affairs. Didn’t he take the Wonga deal without offering richard branson a chance to bid? Virgin Money might have offered even more for sponsership. Maybe – because Ashley isn’t a great communicator – DL was expected to be open with the fans, and he wasn’t. And maybe Ashley wants JK to recruit players for their quality rather than for their cheapness. The best deals rather than the cheapest deals. JK might not be the best, or most restrained candidate for DOF but he is a football man, and maybe that’s what our recruitment strategy needs.

Comment #99Ashley knows Carr is a scouting genius who unearths value in the market where Ashley can add value in the long term to his club.
Therefore anyone who impedes there development will far the his wrath and shown the door.
Properly coached European players need to play the way they have been trained so Pardew and Kinnear will have to adapt and learn or they will walk and for this reason a modern coach must be brought in to help Pardew adopt a modern approach and if he doesn’t like will be on the bus down to the smoke.
The only alternative to this system in my view is for Ashley to sell up.
What do you think lads?

I think we should try to have him committed – surely there laws protecting us, Newcastle and everyone else from this lunatic?

Comment #104We all know that Llambias was/is a complete waste of skin so seeing the back of him will only be a good thing for the club.
But why the hell does Ashley bring in Joe Kinnear?
Ashley has this trend of employing people who have no track record for the role’s that they are given.
Our player recruitment is not in question, we are signing top players with little outlay on transfer fee’s and our wage structure is low compared to most top flight club’s throughout Europe.
But what have Kinnear and Pardew ever done to justify their role???

The happiness I had this time last year when Leon Best left not because I disliked him in anyway but because it was soooo obvious that he was being sold to bring in a top draw striker.Wrong. Now on the flip side the happiness I should be feeling now Dastardly has walked the plank has been totally overshadowed by the employment of this clown.
