There was news in the Daily Mirror early this morning that some senior executives at Newcastle were as surprised as the fans, when Joe Kinnear came out on Sunday night and said he was to become the new Director of Football at Newcastle.
Derek LLambias – out after five years at Newcastle
And then in his disgraceful interview on talkSport on Monday night, when he managed to embarrass both himself and Newcastle, he told people that Derek Lambezee was resigning his role as Director of Football, although Derek was actually the Managing Director, which is equivalent to Chairman.
So there’s a case to be made that only Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear were talking about this change for the last three weeks, and it was all decided and agreed upon, without any input from Derek LLambias and certainly with none from manager Alan Pardew.
So it could well be that Llambias is resigning in protest of Joe’s appointment, or he could even have been moved out by Mike Ashley as part of his reorganization.
We don’t think this is the end of the changes, although if Derek did resign suddenly on hearing the news about Joe, it may take a little time to replace him.
And we still don’t know what the situation is with Alan Pardew, and in normal circumstances he would be on Tyneside, preparing for ore-season, which kicks off two weeks tomorrow when all of the players, except those on International duty, will return to Newcastle.
And as far as stability at Newcastle is concerned – that’s all gone up in smoke in the last three days.
This is one possible scenario of what has happened at Newcastle – what do you think is happening?
