Was Derek LLambias Blindsided By Kinnear Appointment?

There was news in the Daily Mirror early this morning that some senior executives at Newcastle were as surprised as the fans, when Joe Kinnear came out on Sunday night and said he was to become the new Director of Football at Newcastle.

derek llambias

Derek LLambias – out after five years at Newcastle

And then in his disgraceful interview on talkSport on Monday night, when he managed to embarrass both himself and Newcastle,  he told people that Derek Lambezee was resigning his role as Director of Football, although Derek was actually the Managing Director, which is equivalent to Chairman.

So there’s a case to be made that only Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear were talking about this change for the last three weeks, and it was all decided and agreed upon, without any input from Derek LLambias and certainly with none from manager Alan Pardew.

So it could well be that Llambias is resigning in protest of Joe’s appointment,  or he could even have been moved out by Mike Ashley as part of his reorganization.

We don’t think this is the end of the changes, although if Derek did resign suddenly on hearing the news about Joe, it may take a little time to replace him.

And we still don’t know what the situation is with Alan Pardew, and in normal circumstances he would be on Tyneside, preparing for ore-season, which kicks off two weeks tomorrow when all of the players, except those on International duty, will return to Newcastle.

And as far as stability at Newcastle is concerned – that’s all gone up in smoke in the last three days.

This is one possible scenario of what has happened at Newcastle – what do you think is happening?

Wow so dekka has gone! Great news bring back Chris mort!!!
But please Christ some one get some effin gaffer tape and use it on JFKs mouth ffs

Have to wonder if dekka leaving is to do with JFK arriving, alot of journo’s seem to think a lot of the senior staff were shocked and majorly p1ssed with his appointment and his interviews

Derek handled all the numbers, presumably that is all in Kinnears hands now.

I expect us to be bankrupt within four seasons unless we bring in someone else.

I think Dekka Lambeezeys days were numbered after ashley had to rescue the january transfers. Maybe he intended to keep him on the money side but keep him away from football, or maybe he was gping to get rid anyway. Either way he is gone and i doubt many will be upset or concerned. Ashleu can do the finances until he can replace him. Its simply a glorified accounting role now anyway, lambrini was probably not happy with that job.

All very interesting. Will the new MD have power to get rid of Kinnear and replace him with someone fit and proper?

Being a typical Newcastle fan I’m being optimistic about this whole scenario. Yes JFK has made himself and the club look idiotic, but what MA needs to do now is shut him up and get him to work behind closed doors. Derek leaving will have been known, JFK said it when he signed so it won’t be a shock to the system. We’ll be fine, it’s Newcastle, we ALWAYS have things trying to cock it up but we always end up okay

Rotonda…so you want Ashley to leave twice?

…that hardly seems necessarily since he has to come back in order to leave again (would we really want that? 😉 ) lol

I wish people wouldn’t simply relegate Lambias to being only a money / accounting role. He was managing director of the football club. Effectively all of the 300 or so none playing staff worked for him. We need somebody who can also run a medium size business like that.

RE: Director of football. Who can remember the director of Football Bobby Robson worked with?

Answer: Gordon Milne 1999-2004. Not a peep out of him to the press. Shows what a pigs ear Ashley has made of this.

Right I got a little theory, more out of hope than anything… So, Mike Ashley has found a buyer, hires good friend Kinnear so we the new owner comes in he gets a pay off, also the reason he kept Pards on and the reason Llambias has now left?? Possible?

Personally, I wouldn’t like that. It’s a hate of mine when clubs just pump money continuously in the club, I’d just like an owner who gives us a decent amount of investment.
