We don’t know why these things happen at Newcastle, but the club is once again in disarray, and any sense of stability seems to have gone, and it’s all been caused by one appointment – that of Joe Kinnear as Director of Football.
Darren Bent – English International tops the list
One of Joe’s first decisions was to pull Newcastle out of the race to sign free agent Douglas, and the news was that Derek LLambias was ahead of other clubs in the pursuit of the Brazilian, but Joe pulled the plug and that was the main reason, we we are told in the local papers today, why Derek resigned yesterday.
Alan Pardew met with Joe Kinnear in London on Tuesday lunchtime, and presented him a list of the players he wants, and it’s understood Alan wants two things – more British players and more players with Premier League experience.
Alan Pardew seems to be one of the few who is acting the part of grown up in all of this, and wants to make things work with Joe, but it will depend on whether the former Wimbledon boss impinges on Alan’s coaching duties.
If that happens we wouldn’t blame Alan for leaving – but then what happens?
And it seems there is now a good chance that Newcastle will move quickly for Darren Bent – as he meets both of Pardew’s requirement, and he’s not too expensive, and if you believe reports , he is keen to move to Newcastle, and we assume that’s still the case after the Kinnear explosion.
Joe’s task is to collect and review the target lists, and then it’s his job to talk to Mike Ashley – and get the go ahead from the owner.
Joe would be well advised to move quickly, given the current environment.
And now we know why we were told that nobody would be signed before July, there were (and maybe still are) some major changes in the Newcastle organization.
We just hope that these changes lights a fire at Newcastle, and we can quickly move for some good players this summer, and there has to be a good chance that more players will be coming in, as Joe Kinnear wants to move the mediocre players out of the club.

Comment #43IF true, 2 years of work by Carr and Llambias goes down the drain in 2 minutes of Kinnear being here.
The bloke is more out of touch with modern football than Joe Pasquale ffs!
