Joe Kinnear Now Regrets Giving That Interview

Newcastle today in the Newcastle Journal that Joe Kinnear very much regrets giving that interview to talkSPORT, which created very bad headlines for both Joe and Newcastle United this week.

Joe Kinnear – got off to bad start

And apparently Joe only gave the interview because of his friendship with Bobby Gould, but knows now that it was a mistake – a big mistake.

The Journal is reporting that Joe will now take a brief holiday before the season starts, and that was planned even before his interview on Monday night.

There’s no argument that Joe has made a very poor impression this week, but if he can remain in the background in the future, and allow Alan Pardew to continue to be the face of the club – it could still work – we hope it can still work.

Newcastle fans have heard nothing from the club, but NUFC Fan United have taken the initiative and arranged a meeting with club officials on Monday night at 6:00pm at the Newcastle Labour Club in the city center, so if you can attend please do.

A cool and calm discussion is what’s needed on Monday night, and the key after last Monday night’s interview was that we had no more nonsense, and that’s been achieved.

Now Joe Kinnear has to find a way of operating in his Director of Football role, that will allow Alan Pardew and Graham Carr to keep doing their jobs – but at the same time the three of them still work together for the good of the club.

That’s the key.

Kinnear needs to be gagged and not allowed to talk to the press at anytime, tbh I’d go one step further, I’d gag him, tie him to a chair and lock him in a cupboard and then bury that cupboard in a very deep hole

He hasn’t produced anywhere he has been. Was it Pardews fault at Lyon and Marseille?

It isn’t just here though, he has only shown flashes at every club. Fans love to see someone go past a man, but he needs more end product or he is a luxury that we really can’t afford. Ginola and Robert had talent, could beat a man, but they also scored and set up much more prolifically then Ben Arfa, yet Hatem is arguably more talented then Robert and on a par with Davide at least.

Sorry Ed but the great news isn’t so great.
HBA is an expensive luxury with a terrible career record.

Does your name not contradict this slightly? 🙂

I agree mate, it’s because out of our entire squad he’s the only man that stands out when he’s on the the ball that fans have grabbed onto. He’s no where near as good as Matter or Hazzard as he’s no where near as consistant

    He’s going on holiday?

He’s been back at the club less than a week.
He’s only worked for 4 months in the last nine years.

Why isn’t he working on transfer targets?

if you see when he gets the ball, every one of our players is standing still or so far detached its unbelivable

He was 16-17 at lyon and did more than enough

Still miles better than any other player we have

    Better than Jonas 😉

He was 17/18/19 and 20 at Lyon, and really didn’t do that much. 37 goals and 26 assists really isn’t good enough for someone with his talent.

I’m not saying he isn’t talented. He has more talent then most. If you ever go to Rio, on the old Maracana stadium tour, probably on the new one as well, there is a bloke who is thought of as more skillful then most of the players. He stands there in a room doing tricks. Talent and skill are great, but you need to be able to do something with it, which Ben Arfa doesn’t do enough.

I also doubt any big clubs will want him.

IMO the reason the Douglas transfer was knocked on the head, is that Colo has agreed to stay. I think we will sign a goalscorer, probably Bent, and no other signings, unless they are to replace outgoings, and these will probably be squad players, much the same as the ones leaving.

    Hi guys,

Long time reader but I don’t post very often. I am wondering why everyone is so against us signing bent. He has a proven goal record in the premiership which neither pea or any of the other foreign forwards we are linked to have. He has a better games/goal ratio then these guy even though he has spent his whole career playing in a far superior league. There was a comment the other day that he was 4th choice striker at spurs. If you look at the stats he played 27 and 33 premiership games in his 2 seasons at spurs.

I take the point he may not be a perfect partner for Cisse but I think it would be good to have 2 goal scorers fighting for the same position. Hopefully Ashley might even splash out and get a target man as well. JFK may surprise us all yet. Wishful thinking maybe.

When people say (or don’t say) things, or do (or don’t do) things, we make meaning out of what we observe. In this instance our observations are inherently incomplete, because we don’t know what’s actually happening.. This ignorance is doing the club harm. Unless I am seriously missing something the initial error was Ashley’s in appointing Kinnear as DOF and then the club not officially announcing the fact. Once Kinnear went public in such an embarrassing way there then should have been immediate confirmation and clarification( as to what his responsibilities were) from the PR department. Action quickly enough to avert trouble and further media frenzy. This chaotic image damaging saga is all down to Ashley’s practice of knowledge is power and a total lack of meaningful communication with the fans.
It would seem to also encourage some to blame Pardew whereas to my mind he has not been implicated in the whole sorry mess. Ashley is to blame 100%.

I think Kinnear is to blame. He shouldn’t have spoken to any media outlet until the club announced his appointment. He then should have got his head down and kept his mouth shut. There was no need to go public once never mind twice.
I like the fact that Newcastle United generally do not talk to the media, because they tend to put a negative slant on everything and they NEVER have anything positive to say about the club.

I’m on holiday at the minute in Spain at my mams place in gran alicant. It’s a small town outside of alicante and there’s this little local newspaper that does the rounds once a week.

It’s filled with local Spanish stuff and local businesses and news etc.

I Kid you not, the entire back page is about what’s happening at Newcastle. A massive picture of Ashley, paradew and kinnear.

Joe did not realise how massive a club we are (even though hes managed us before) and how the press will jump on anything Newcastle. There’s something about us that just interests people. It’s the same thing that enables us to attract big players to the club.

Lets hope this all settles down now and we can just focus on getting the right players in. I don’t believe 90% of what’s been written.

I still maintain I’d rather have kinnear making football decisions than lambezee.

Kinda sick of hearing all these press conferences from Kinnear about what his role is and all that, just get on with it. His role seems to have changed since his first interview, just shows that everyone knew where they stood and what their roles were within the club when this appointment was finalised. You expect this kind of miscommunication at a Sunday league club.

    Supporting NUFC is hard work.

U lot will literally moan about anything won’t ya! So what if he is going on holiday for a start you don’t know what he was doing before he joined us, secondly you don’t know of this was a pre booked family holiday and he may feel being a father and grandfather, 4 years away from being 70, that spending time with his family is more important than any job. The fact is you don’t know anything except that he is going on holiday for a few days and you’re bursting into tears about it. Some really pathetic comments on this blog lately, it’s embarrassing

If you bothered to loosen the straps on your gimp mask a little then you may have been able to read the post regarding HBA properly.

Yes he is the best player at the club but thats more of a sad reflection on the state of our squad. He is vastly over rated by most fan’s and not in the class of the like’s of Hazzard or Matta, it may be down to his injury nightmare or it may be down to the fact that we are all so desperate to latch onto anything of worth at the club that he has been elevated to ‘World Beater’ status

I think things are looking a bit brighter today in terms of NUFC. HBA want’s to extend his contract, whih is awesome news. I can’t understand some of the negativity towards him. Some short memories imo. He has only scored 2 of the best goals we have seen at SJP against Bolton and Blackburn but hey, he’s just an expensive luxury…..OK haha. HBA is very important to this club. Also, Coloccini for another season is the best news we could hear this summer regardless of who we bring in. Colo is one of the best CB in Europe nevermind the EPL another very important player. Also, G.Carr has decided to stay at this club. We have a scouting system that is the envy of many an EPL club. Also, J.Kinnear realizes it seems that he has been a complete plank and he is lucky to still be in a job. Let’s hope he can learn from his mistakes and realize that all staff at NUFC need to get along at this club and pull in the same direction. The club is not about JK it is about the supporters that back this club through think n thin. HWTL!!!!

I do not believe for one minute that JK is taking a short holiday – well not in the sense of what we think of a holiday -summer getaway or similar.Holiday in this sense probably means a “holiday away from the press” on the orders of El Gourdo, so that the club did not suffer further ridicule. He clearly has been told to put a sock in it.
As for the possibility of getting Darren Bent – I’m not sure about this – in view of him hardly playing for Villa in their remaining games -are there some issues we do not know about.. Would prefer spending more and try to lure
Aubameyang here – would send a much better message to the football world as to our intentions.
DOF may be a good idea -but not JK – he clearly has not kept up to date with his football -but we are now lumbered with him.
