We thought Joe Kinnear would keep quiet to let things settle down on Tyneside, but he hasn’t heeded that advice, and he’s been interviewed again in the Sunday Times today, and this time he slags off Alan Shearer.

This is what Joe has said today – more controversial comments – this time directed at the Newcastle legend:
“What Shearer says is diabolical.” “This is a guy who hasn’t got a clue about coaching.” “The last game of the 2008-2009 season he came up with the master idea of playing Damien Duff at left-back.”
“Damien is one of the best left-wingers in the business, but can’t tackle. And we went down with an own goal from Damien.” “Shearer keeps slagging me off. He is being disrespectful to me. I am entitled to fight back.”
This is what we just don’t like about Joe, he’s abrasive and he’s never liked Alan Shearer – maybe because Alan is popular with Newcastle fans, and Joe isn’t.
But this is one reason we think this guy is going to cause more trouble than enough at Newcastle – and we were hoping he would lie low and not give any more interviews.
Things have been relatively quiet since Joe stopped talking, but this is going to be the big headlines again in the press, and it doesn’t make Newcastle look good.
And Alan Shearer would be well advised not to get into a tit for tat with Joe – keep a diplomatic silence – it’s not good for Newcastle and it’s not professional.
But that’s Joe Kinnear all over – unfortunately – and he’s now an executive at the club?
Mike Ashley has to start controlling this guy – do you ever hear other Directors of Football in England criticizing like this in the press?
