News today in the Sunday People that Mike Ashley has persuaded Graham Carr to stay at Newcastle as the Chief Scout.
Graham Carr – Newcastle’s Chief Scout staying
The relationship between the owner and Chief Scout is very good, so it’s probably not surprising the 68 year top scout has decided to stay, and Graham has told friends this will be his last job in football, and of course he signed an eight year deal only last year.
So did Alan Pardew and his coaches John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman – but the introduction last week of new Director of Football Joe Kinnear has put a spanner in the world.
Managing Director Derek LLambias resigned within 24 hours of the announcement of Kinnear, but both Alan Pardew and Graham Carr have now decided to stay at the club.
Mike Ashley has apparently convinced Carr that he can continue doing his scouting duties as he’s been doing for the last three and half years at Newcastle, but both Alan and Graham now report into Joe Kinnear.
We’re not sure why Mike Ashley keeps bringing these shocks to the Newcastle fans and the club, but the negative reaction caused by Joe Kinnear’s arrival is not good, and has caused a number of top officials at the club to become unsettled.
But it’s happened now, so we are hoping that Joe can meld into the club, and work well with Alan Pardew and Graham Carr.
We’ll know soon enough if this new organization is going to work, but we still expect Derek LLambias to be replaced as the top executive running the day-to-day activities at Newcastle.
And there’s a meeting arranged by NUFC Fans United at 6:00 pm at Newcastle Labour Club in the city center where Newcastle officials will be present to answer questions from fans.
You can also email questions you would like put to the Newcastle officials at the meeting – the email ID is nufcfansutd@gmail.com.
It’s a good opportunity to try to get some answers about why Joe was appointed.

Comment #41@lilongwe I doubt that has any substance MA might be many things but he is a shrewd businessman and the 8 year contracts will no doubt have break clausses and set compensation if Pardew does not perform

Comment #42JFA – the press are milking the Kinnear situation for all its worth, thats a fact. This patronising ‘poor NUFC fans stuck with that idiot Ashley’ is just more of the same sh!t stirring.
You’ve even got fans line numba9 (should be dumba9) on this thread saying Ashley does things to deliberately p!ss fans off. Honestly, the stupidity of anyone thinking that puts Kinnear’s ramblings into Einstein territory.
Me, I understand why Ashley has brought in a DOF but like everyone else I’m not excited or confident about Kinnear. However, the so called ‘club in turmoil’ is currently in exactly the same position as before except that Llambias (who fans ridiculed and hated) has left and Kinnear (who fans ridicule) has arrived in his place.
Llambias knew fk all about football and Kinnear – for all of his buffoonery – does know somrthing about football.
Until the hack predicted ‘internal wars’ ‘Carlton Cole cheap signings’ ‘mass player exodus’ and ‘Shearer bar revolts’ actually happen I’ll keep sleeping soundly.

Yeah, every club has passionate fans. To say that one set is more passionate then another is disrespectful. Some have more (quantity) passionate fans, but that is generally because they have a bigger fanbase.

Comment #44@ Billson morning class post as per usual. I think I fall into the jurrasic park fan zone. I agree we talk about Ashley as if he is the only chairman to have made some strange decisions. I know you remember the days of Seymour, Westwood, McKeag etc

Comment #45Lilongwe Just read an article by Super Mac who is bumping his gums and sticking his oar in with his own conspiracy theory. That Ashley has done this deliberately to get rid of the bug wage earners. What a plum he is.

Maybe you are an ITK who keeps your counsel rather than pass on your wisdom for all to pan.

Yeah, all these ex players coming out and slagging off the regime is just getting a bit ridiculous. Surely they aren’t stupid enough to think that by giving these statements/interviews complaining about the club, calling it a joke etc, they are doing any good whatsoever. Any potential signings will give more credence to their statements, and could possibly avoid the club because of it.
If they haven’t got anything good to say, then they should just keep shtum.

Comment #57My wishlist is getting short now, Okore, Carroll and now Dries Mertens have all moved clubs.
That leaves me with Sinclair, Aubameyang, Ince. I’ll add Redmond and Maguire to boost it back up a bit.

Ditch the cash cow? The club owes him money, so how can he be making money from it? Even if he were to be taking out any profits, do you think he is too excited by the 1.4million profit when he has a billion pound sports wear empire? The fact is, if he were to sell the club tomorrow, the profit he would make from the sale wouldn’t even be higher than the Sports Direct annual profits.

Comment #62What I don’t get is Ashley never fux about…if he wants to do something he normally just goes out and does it….so why put on a show like the JFK show to ease Pardew out.
If we are going to change the manager we need to change him now so the new manager has a full pre-season rather than risk the stupid scenario of Pardew waiting til the day before the season starts to throw in the towel…
…it’s amateur hour stuff…surely if wants Pardew out he should just sack him and bring Poyet or whoever in so everyone knows where they stand

Comment #63One Tony Green – great link to the Mirror.
At last, a journo with common sense who tells it as it is.
Fans were screaming for Pardew and Llambias out yet the believe the club is in turmoil because Kinnear comes in and one has left and the other might.
Hilarious eh – and ASHLEY is the joker??
The two faced stupidity of some fans is almost beyond belief.

Comment #64In MA eyes NUFC is his club and he’ll do what the hell he likes with it. If we don’t like his decisions then Tuff. All we can do is support our great club because it will be still here when Casleys not.
