It looked like England were going to get off to a win against Iraq in their first game in Group E of the U20 World Cup taking place in Turkey on Sunday night.
Gael Bigirimana – came on after 89 minutes
And England were two goals up from Conor Coady in the 41st and then Luke Williams made it two after 52 minutes, before Iraq came back with two goals in the last 17 minutes, and their equalizer came three minutes into added time, to embarrass England.
This was another young England set-back after the debacle in Israel earlier this month wehn we were beaten 1-0, and that cost the England U21 manager Stuart Pearce his job.
Newcastle’s Gael Bigirimana just made it into the game on Sunday night, when he came on as a sub on 89 minutes.
In the other group E game, Chile beat Egypt 2-1 to go top of the group, and England’s next game is against Chile on Wednesday night – and England need a win.
Maybe Gael will start that game?
Teams:
England U20: Johnstone, Lascelles, Potts, Flanagan, Dier, Coady, Ward-Prowse, Lundstram (Reach 69), Barkley (Bigirimana 89), Kane, Williams (Long 69).
Subs not used: George Long, Cole, Stones, Thorpe, Pritchard, Garbutt, Ripley.
Iraq U20: Hameed, Dhurgham Ismail (Abdul-Hussein 69), Nadhim, Jabbar Arebat, Adnan, Natiq (Kamil 66), Fayez, Salman, Jawad Kadhim Shukor 84), Tareq, Abdulraheem.
Subs not used: Ajail, Jumaah, Jabbar Shwkan, Qasim, Ihab Kadhim, Hozan Ismael, Yaseen

Comment #161Strange. … Pardew is a sh!t manager who plays hoofball and yet. …
Our most talented on the deck player, HBA, likes it so much at NUFC that he wants to extend his contract…
All reports from the players say that the team spirit is still high and they are all looking forward to next season.
Not one player has asked for a transfer and solid rumours about any sales are zero.
Now, if Pardew was so sh!t and was telling the players ‘hoof it, hoof it, hoof it’ common sense tells you that there would be plenty of unrest among the players – and there isn’t.
I’m not saying Pardew is a brilliant manager – but I am saying that the opinions of the fans who don’t work every day with Pardew are clearly different to the players who do work every day with Pardew.
Like it or not, that’s a fact.

Comment #162The media has gone mad about NUFC, so many BS stories.
They said that we are being linked with Poyet because of advice from Ashley’s closest friend Dennis Wise and Dennis will become DOF if Poyet is in charge.
It’s insane, how the media could come up with these kind of stories and published it, it is irresponsible journalism.

Comment #163Santon03 – the media write these stories only because they nearly always get a hysterical reaction from a section of Toon fans.
50% of the blame for ‘crisis club Newcastle in comedy turmoil’ is down to the fans who believe and react to this type of drivel.
I said to a Mackem mate of mine yesterday that the difference between us and them is that De Canio makes fascist and racist comments backed up breaking into his former club’s offices + giving nonsensical interviews and is labelled ‘controversial’. Kinnear gets a couple of players names wrong and the unliked Llambias resigns and we are ‘a club in turmoil’.
Any fan with half a brain should be able to see that the media just love to wind us up – and the only reason why any of us keep winding someone up is because we keep fooling them into reacting.
Wake up Toon fans and smell the coffee.

Havent been on in a few days as it got real silly, real fast with people wishing a fatal heart attack on JK etc.
Its football – and believe it or not, some things ARE more important. Back to work this week after a fortnight off!! Thank god for coffee! 🙂

Back to work? Where? Surely most clubs that you work with are still on the summer break?
Do you ever have involvement with player medicals?

Comment #166Bills, it wasn’t so long since Ben Arfa was stating his admiration for clubs like Liverpool and Swansea and the way they play football. Football which is tactically alien to Pardew.
I think Ben Arfa appreciates that most fans love to see him play and take players on, he is playing in front of a big crowd and is well paid as well.
Niafron has said before along the lines of that he enjoys the challenge of having responsibility to help win a game. Well he’s at the right place cos that’s how Pardew hopes to nick points, through individual brilliance rather than a basis of pre-planned teamwork goals which is technically alien to him.
Coloccini had a big bust up with Pardew before as did Ba about tactics. At games, Ba was visibly getting more and more peeved with the ball being smashed up to him.
On top of the record breaking poor results which Pardew managed to brilliantly get, the team is generally disjointed offensively. Attacking wins games, defending will only get a draw or a loss.
Playing an overloaded defensive midfield against the poorest teams is again testament to Pardew’s negativity and his pre and post-match comments are nothing short of straight up lies to protect his porous credibilty.

Couldn’t really be put any clearer, but still you get people defending Pardew on the back of one good season when everything went our way and our dross was covered by moments of individual brilliance. Even Roeder got us Europe one year but he wasn’t good enough either.
In Pardew’s 3 years, first year could have finished 9th, but came 12th, 2nd year got 5th , but blew 4th and even this year could have got 10th but collapsed to 16th.
Hardly signs of a manager who is going to get top 6 every year and as he says he doesn’t want Europe and puts mickey mouse teams out in the cups, so what is his ambition? OH yeah I forgot mid-table mediocrity.

I think the 52 expletive laden interview 4 years ago gave the press all they would ever need for future vitriol. Not exactly SBR’s style is it?
Well let’s see. The MD leaves, Carr almost leaves. A man with vascular dementia arrives on the back of a disastrous previous spell. Ash is trying to get rid of Pardew but Llambias has stitched him up giving out 8 year deals like confetti with no clauses inserted and just for good measure ST sales are way down.
Yeah no turmoil just an average day at the comedy club.

I’m sure Benny is very happy with the way we let him go off to France every time he gets a twinge and comes back a stone overweight. A professional club would never pander to him like that.
You could hardly accuse Pardew of having the work ethic judging by our appalling fitness standards

Hear no evil, see no evil eh.
Kinnear’s previous 5 wins in 26 and the 8 year deals must be a figment of my imagination along with Kinnear on the record saying he had been brought in to stop a feud between Pardew and Carr.
Ignorance is a wonderful thing some of the time but not all of it.

I can’t found any official statement from GC that he was to resign or staying. All I can see is the media making up stories that GC is quitting and then staying when there was nothing happened in the first place.
And then news abou Cabaye was angry about “Kebab”, I thought he is still on holidays.
I don’t know about pardew’s contract, I haven’t seen the copy yet

Comment #176Lilo – I always seem to have a mountain of paperwork to work through, organising plans for individuals for the coming season, reviews and follow ups and – believe me, there is always plenty to do. 🙂
As for medicals, normally the individual medical teams are more than efficient at getting that sorted, should there be any issues or underlying problems which are cardiac related, then I may be contacted.

Comment #177Funk & Santon03 – two more fans who only believe hard facts and are not prejudiced by the hacky media or theor own biased opinions.
Rotunda says: I’m sure Benny is very happy with the way we let him go off to France every time he gets a twinge and comes back a stone overweight. A professional club would never pander to him like that.
So Rotunda – you are saying HBA has no ambition and is only in it for the money with a club who let him swan off to France to stuff his face whenever he has an inury.
What idiotic stupid biased nonsense.

Therefore, no proof of vascular dementia, no proof of MA getting rid of AP, no proof that DL gave out the contracts ( I am sure MA would have known), no proof that there are no clauses in contracts and also no proof (that i have seen) that there is a rift between Pardew and Carr.
N.B Proof does not come from a newspaper article, i would like to see actual quotes from the people invloved

You say all this but you never ever explain or give reasons for his consistent falls from grace everywhere he’s been. Co-incidence I don’t think so.
At west ham he was hardly starved of players. Tevez and Mascherano proved no problem for Curbishley,
You never ever talk about pardew’s 2 record losing streaks at 2 different clubs etc etc etc YAWN…………!!!!.
Can’t you get it, he is not a consistently good manager.

Comment #183I have a relative with vascular dementia. JFK has exactly the same symptoms.
But enough already, everything’s hunky dory, there are no problems, we’re very lucky we have a truly wonderful and magnificent management and coaching team in place . Things just couldn’t be any better. We are in safe hands.

Comment #184Another fun day in the mad house by the looks of things.
Rotonda doesn’t provide any hard facts, but nor does any one else really. The HBA contract news came from a ‘source close to the player’. Given that no one believes that other journo sources are correct then why is this one likely to be.
The only people who have come out and publicly stated that they want to stay are Tiote, Jonas and Taylor. Out of those three, only a back to form Tiote would get regular games at a club of our ilk elsewhere.
Of course the media love to stir things up, and of course fans rise to the bait. But in Kinnears case he made himself hugely unpopular with the media in his last stint here and the media were always going to go after him with all guns blazing. He added the fuel to the fire with further mistruths/mis pronunciations (which I don’t really have a problem with). Anything he does/says that is incorrect/bad will be highlighted by them.

Comment #187As for Ben Arfa going back to France, so did Cabaye, Colo went home. It was stated by a club official, possibly Pardew, that it was in there deals that they were able to return home to recover from injuries provided there are suitable facilities for there rehab there.

Comment #188Look I don’t like pardew, he’s not God’s greatest gift to this football club, I would love him to go and replaced by Italian manager but he is here to stay and this time he has to perform to be able to stay. Such pressure wasn’t there last season imo. A man under pressure will work twice harder and will open up to new things since his way got him in trouble.

I have the view that the burden of proof is on those who make a claim.
Anyway, why use hearsay, when you can just say i don’t like what is being done.
