Newcastle Announce Six Pre-Season Friendlies

We are hoping that things at Newcastle will settle down, once the players return from their summer holidays a week on Thursday – July 4th – when pre-season training starts.

Newcastle play SC Braga on 10th August

Newcastle will start the pre-season at Motherwell on 16th July, and then play two games in Portugal, and then travel to Bloomfield Road for a game at Blackpool, and travel to a game at St. Mirren.

The final per-season game will be when we welcome SC Braga to St. James’ Park on Saturday August 10th, a week before the Premier League season opens for Newcastle, with a tough game at Manchester City.

Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, Papiss Cisse, Fabricio Coloccini and Gael Bigirimana, who have played International football this summer,  will be given an extra 11 days off, and will report back to training on Monday July 15th.

The next day is the game at Motherwell so those players will not be participating in that game, and will be hard pressed to make the two games in Portugal on 20th and 23rd of July against Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira respectively.

Here’s Newcastle’s schedule of games.

Tue - 16 July KO 7:00pmMotherwellFir ParkW 4-2
Sat - 20 July KO 6:00pmRio AveEstadio do Rio AveL 3-1
Tue - 23 July KO - 8:00pmPacos de FerreiraEstadio da Capital do MovelD 1-1
Sun - 28 July KO 3:00pmBlackpoolBloomfield RoadW 1-0
Tue - 30th July KO 7:30pmSt. MirrenLove StreetW 2-0
Tue - 6 August, 7:45pmRangersIbrox StadiumD 1-1
Sat - 10 August, KO 6:00pmSC BragaSt. James' ParkD 1-1

Rio Ave finished sixth in the Primeira Liga last term and Pacos de Ferreira finished third,  and earned a place in the Champions League qualifying rounds next season.

Newcastle are trying to arrange one more friendly game, probably around the weekend of August 3rd, and hopefully that will be another game at St. James’ Park.

Cardiff have apparently agreed a fee for Ince!

Would be a shame if we were to miss out on the lad as he’d be an excellent addition for our squad

Ah. So if cardif sign him, i imagine everyone wilk say “can’t beleive cardif beat us to ince. Blah. Disaster. Doom”

But in real life we were probably never in for him in the first place. Jack i do agree however he would be an excellent signing for us if we were in for him.

I hope Adam Campbell gets a few games – otherwise he will get 10 mins in PL all season

Ince would be wasted if he came to us.
Pardew would play Jonas instead of him & everybody knows it.

He’ll get to play every week at Cardiff.
It would be a good move for him in my opinion.

agree mate, he’d be better off with a side like Cardiff as he would get to play every week and would continue to improve as a player whereas he’d hit a wall with us and thats the same of NUFC at this point in time

I would love to sign him, but you just know he won’t get a game. Jonas will start ahead of him all the time.

In a way this meeting is good as it is proactive, but in the scheme of things it probably won’t maximise what could be achieved with it if the club takes on board the views of the fans. Which, in itself is varied as everyone’s views are different.

Only Ashley will know how he intends to run the club in the coming months, not the facade which the club’s reps will spin. It is just to prevent the natives getting more and more restless in my opinion.

Ince would be a great signing! Would say he’d be first choice for left wing, would add some much needed pace to our first team! Agree we need some English players, wouldn’t touch Bent though, someone like Rhodes or Austin would be better in the long run! Redmond from Birmingham is an exciting player, apparantly available for 3m, think he’d be a good understudy to HBA! Think Redmond, Ince, Austin added to Bigirimana and Campbell would see us develop a strong english spine over the course of the next 3 seasons!

We are still after nobody, we haven’t identified our targets yet. Same shit like last year. That stories that we are working very hard behind the scene…. that is a joke. We will see 1 striker maybe one more player and that’s it. everything smell like that.

the problem we have is that it seems that Pardew will only use the youngsters when he has no other choice, the reasons for that are up for debate, but you have to ask whether it would be a good choice for the youngsters you mentioned to actually come here?

With Kinnear saying that any poor results basically reflect on him and he could be sacked as a result, my guess is that he will be giving Pardew his blunt opinion and trying to force change once the performances and results are of a typical Pardew esq nature whenever they may arrive. 1st game or 15th game. Clash of egos will have begun.

The silver tongued one’s lack of words following the Joke’s appointment is making it loud and clear what he thinks of it. Although, they could of course actually get on, due to their flair for the direct and ariel fantastic. They’d be great at Stoke playing their 70’s and 80’s football.

Pardew could have his much loved half hour punts up to Shola for the full game there, not just for the last half hour of games. The stats on something like that would be mind boggling, to say we’re already top of the long ball charts with a relatively small side who can’t score from corners. Pardew you are as magnificent as you feel.

To be fair when kinnear was manager here we played better football on the floor than under pardew and Hughton! He gets tarred with the long ball brush because of wimbledon but if ppl old enough to remember look back, wimbledon played the long ball under beasant and gould, under Kinnear they played much more attractive football, think what people get confused with is that they were physical defensively! Thing is about JFKs teams is that they are always physical and athletic but that doesnt necessarily mean aerial! Might just be that we start to see players like Sissoko used properly now…

Roundabout this time last year everyone wanted us to sign Junior Hoilett from Blackburn.

When he went to QPR there was lots of gnashing of teeth and crys of we have no ambition.

So, how did the young winger Hoilett do in a newly promoted team? Well, he didn’t exactly light up the premiership, did he. So will young Ince do any better with another newly promoted team?

2 things that will guarantee us relegated

    1) no quality players bought in just rejects

    2) AP keeps to a 4-2-3-1 without natural wingers

Why all the negative crap, lets see what does unfold .
I for one cannot remember which rejects we have bought.
Sissoko ,Debuchy,Gouffran ,Cabaye are some of our recent signings and I for one are more than happy ,so if there is anymore rejects out there like that bring them on .
Im sure Mr Carr would differ with you.
The main problem we have is with Mr Pardew, who is destroying them with his tactics.

Players should suit the system you want to play. Bent and Cisse… just can’t see that working at all. Berbatov and one of them could work, but not Bent and Cisse I wouldn’t have thought. But Berba is too old to be considered. Siem De Jong, but who knows what masterplan is being being built up behind the scenes.

Hoilett struggled in a side that was in turmoil for almost the entire season but then again so did almost every other player at QPR, would it have been a better move for him to come to us? in hindsight yeah it would have.

For all we know Cardiff are the only Premier side that is actually in for Ince
