There’s news in all the local papers this morning that Alan Pardew was key to getting Fab Coloccini to stay at the club.
Alan Pardew – very good man manager
But it was obvious from Alan’s words about Colo and the fact he chose the Argentine to be the new captain of the club after Kevin Nolan left for West Ham two years ago.
And fans could see the enormous impact Coloccini has on the team when he returned for the last three games of the season and we got 4 points and conceded only two goals in those games at West Ham, QPR and at home to Arsenal.
This is what Coloccini has said:
“Alan has always been a great support to me. Whenever I have needed some advice he has always been around to help me.”
The news is that Pardew kept in communication with Colo after the end of the season, and kept talking to him about how important it was for him to stay at Newcastle – and it seems to have worked because on June 14th Colo announced he was staying at Newcastle.
“I’m not going to move to San Lorenzo now because Newcastle don’t want me to go. I have to respect that decision.”
“I’m a grateful person and Newcastle have given me the opportunity of playing in the Premier League, which is the elite of football – so I will stay at Newcastle.”
It’s great news that Colo is staying, and we dare say that Alan Pardew’s star has risen a bit with the fans, since Joe Kinnear was appointed, since Alan has handled the situation admirably and with some dignity.
Joe Kinnear has not.
And the main thing in Alan’s favor is that he kept quiet about things – and that’s something Joe Kinnear could learn from Mr. Pardew.

Comment #1It’s funny but AP is often described as having dignity. The funny thing is, I don’t feel he is dignified at all. CH, on the other had, I felt kept his dignity very well, but it’s difficult to see how a man who always blames everything apart from himself can be described as dignified.

Comment #4Yes Joe, Pardew can teach you to:-
Play players out of position
Play your favourites no matter what
Make bizarre subs
Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
To b….t the fans. Oh wait…..
Play hoof ball. Oh wait………..
It’s funny how people say ” I wouldn’t want to buy the league”
But no one had a problem when we bought Shearer for a then world record. If that wasn’t trying to buy success (which only just failed) then what was? Hypocrisy is a terrible thing.
We have won nothing genuinely of note since 1955, so 58 years and counting!
If we got taken over and we had a modern day KK with today’s equivalent budget and actually started impacting on the Chelsea’s, United’s, City’s etc are you really going to turn your back on it?

Those reports were 2008 but had a June 26, 2013 date at the top, very confusing!!!

Comment #18@ 9 So 4 out of 5 of his buys were sold for a huge profit before you go throwing stones lets look at some of our expensive flops prior to the Ashley era where we were mugged over.
Boumsong, Luque, Viana, Givachy, Marcelino, Owen, Smith, to name a few.

Comment #21REPOST: Sorry its a book, but I didnt write all of the below for it to be buried in a previous page.
Choose to read it, or not. Up to you.
Sorry to those who have read it, its pretty much generated positive posts more than negatives with most agreeing to it or understanding it, but I am looking ideally for those that do not agree/understand, to simply tell me why?
______________________________
WHY do people want Mike Ashley to leave?
Other than the odd bad decision which normally comes around to make sense at some point he has done well for this club!
He has sold no BIG players other than Carroll, WHICH started uproar at the time and in the end was the deal of the century! I mean Liverpool have taken a 20m loss on the price they bought him for! And he arguably isnt worth 15m!
Name another player that we have lost since?!
He brought in Keegan for the fans, and although a legend he was a fossil in the modern era. Sorry but he was. The buys of Colo, Jonas are from Dennis Wise not Keegan, and although we got Xisco in that time we really forced Wise out the club.
He choose Kinnear for manager, but really WHO wanted to come to Newcastle which at the time was a mess.
Shearer was fans choice of manager, and still he didnt do anything, infact he will never be a good manager while I have a hole in my ……
Chris Hughton appointment was met with skeptical eyes, but he did marvelous, and well I cannot really see why we sacked him in the end but still he was doing it in the sense to improve the club. Not lower it, he has no benefit in doing that!
Then DL came in and we managed to find a negative in that, but he has negotiated excellent players, for excellent value. He comes across as a very logical business man and well people still moaned about it.
WHY?! Because he changed a Stadium name in the attempt to generate Revenue?! Its the times deal with it! Ok its sad to see the name change overall, BUT its a name the history and stadium still exist!
THEN Pardew ok, I never understood the appointment, but last season fans were singing his name. Then since he went down hill, YES but really he has not done that bad a job. He is just off 3rd for all time winning percentages, and his whole tenure was in the PL.
He has not done that bad of a job!
Overall the team is the strongest I have seen since Bobby and the days of Robert, Bellmay, Shearer, Speed, Solano etc.
We have a fantastic policy!
The appointment of Joe Kinnear may look skeptical. It is not, he is doing to improve the club, I personally understand the background of Kinnear coming in someone with football knowledge. BUT I feel Joe Kinnear was the wrong man for the job.
BUT who am I?! Ashley has done so far more positives for this club than negative.
Give the bloke more time, he may surprise you. Joe Kinnear is the only farce right now at this club, and thats because he does not come across well in the press.
Overall I think its all being blown out of proportion, and the last thing we need in crucial times is a owner that could end up making us like Portsmouth dropping through divisions.
With Ashley I feel PL will always be a factor, I also feel he will always want to finish in top 10.
Half the fans are like sheep, and dont form their own logical opinion, they just follow the crowd.
If you look at what MA has done overall, he has done more positives then negatives, he just doesn’t care about what people think.
A logical person will look at him and say he is a business man, he is not going to appoint someone for the sake of it. He is doing it to ultimately for what he believes will improve the club, in return making him more money!
Owning a PL club, that is self sustained, or not far off is a massive thing these days.
YES we owe him money, but atleast we are not paying interest in debts increasing them in the process.
If fans understood the financial impact MA has made then they would appreciate him more. YET they just want to spout drivel over meaningless things!
Ask yourself, Keegan, the fans choice! If he was so good WHY is he sitting on TV at ESPN, a second rate PL coverage channel?!
Shearer, great footballer, awful manager! Again what is he doing sitting on TV on MOTD!?
Seriously, wake up and realise a good thing while it is infront of you!
We have a decent team, and average manager. Last season we received ALOT of injuries, being negative in this way only attracts more bad press, ultimately making NUFC look like a clown club in the process. It also makes it less attractive to new players in talks with the club!
All this campaign is doing is shooting itself in the foot! Seriously get a grip and support the club rather than advertising it as a shambles!

Comment #26Seriously, I have hit that funny age where I am suddenly less interested in the missus, and more interested in things like ‘shoes that are easy to fasten as its difficult to bend’ and trousers that get advertised on the back of the Sunday supplement. Comment #29OTG Wonga practice overt usury in many people’s eyes and changed the name back to sweeten a highly distasteful arrangement. There was really little need or excuse for Ashley to associate NUFC with such a company but he went ahead and did it anyway, god only knows why.

Comment #33Kinnear clearly is not a guy that can respond to world media. We all make mistakes in names, I.e how many of you pronounced Mbiwa, or Bigirmana wrong this season?!
I agree at a professional level you would expect more from in and around the club, especially JK stature at the club.
But that’s besides the point, I have no idea why he needed to list of credentials (albeit most made up), you never hear Wenger spouting his managerial achievements when Arsenal fans are on his case.
Lets be honest, he comes across as a shambles, especially in interviews, he does not know how to handle modern era press.
BUT bottom line MA will not have appointed him if it did not improve the club. Do you really think MA would appoint someone with the thought …. “hmmm I know how to de-value, upset and de stabilize the club to make less money in the future!” Do you really?!
He is doing this to improve, or what envisions will improve the club to make money.
More money = Better squad = Better league positions / cup runs = Fine with me.
Someone mentioned he has made more money from sales, in comparison to his buys since his arrival. When we were relegated we lost 30m, to balance the books we incorporated the 35m sale of A Carroll to offset the loss.
You also need to take into account how much money the club has lost in early years over paying for the mercenaries and he funded that from his own pocket as that is a debt. I mean we could have been Portsmouth had it not been for MA.
That is the harsh reality of people moaning about him, this club may have not existed if it had not been for him!
I mean Freddie sold the club, and used advertising money not received for 2 years to pay for Micheal Owen?! It was a shambles!

Comment #35@33 That might have been a post too far! JK will improve the club? I agree that MA’s intention may have been to do so, however, I find it difficult to believe that the statement is accurate? I still hope there is some kind of grand plan and everything will drop in to place, however, I reserve my right to remain skeptical. Another good post by the way, I just don’t necessarily agree with all of it.

Comment #36@ Numba 9 Keegan put us back years in terms of youth development and bringing on our own lads.
Shearer was a legend goal scorer and will always be loved for that but he is no manager and that is why no club has given him the chance to manage.

Comment #37Whether they are or they aren’t is fairly moot, though I would argue they are, fact is, as far as I know, we had an arrangement with Virgin who are perceived essentially positively and swapped it for Wonga who are perceived appallingly for a few dollars more.
