Newcastle Look At Fans’ Forum To Improve Communications

10:26 am, Thursday, June 27th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 202 Comments

Newcastle United’s Head Of Media is Wendy Taylor and she seems to want to solve the almost complete lack of communication between the supporters and the club, and she had talked about some of her own ideas about how to do that.

wendy taylor

Wendy Taylor – looking at fans’ forum

This is what Wendy said folklowing the meeting on Monday night with fans:

“We are looking to introduce a fans’ forum, which will be a formal body with fans voted onto the forum, sitting for one year or two years so the club can listen to their views, and we can use them as a sounding board for some of the ideas that we have. They are the developments we would like to see over the next season.”

“I think the important thing is even in the tough times – and I think that everyone admits that at the moment things are a little tough – we need to communicate, and we do understand that. It is crucial that we keep listening, and that we take fans’ feedback back to the club, as without the supporters this club is not the magnificent club it is.”

“We will take that for granted at our peril.”

We wonder if she’s told Mike Ashley that we take fans for granted at our peril – since that’s exactly what the owner seems to do – and he also completely ignores the fans – and always has.

Not good.

It should be fairly easy for Newcastle to quickly find out what’s on fans’ minds by looking at the many forums and blogs on Newcastle, but it’s true they will need some group to work with to get fans’ views on future actions at the club.

Pity that wasn’t done for the Joe Kinnear appointment, and in our poll, with over 7500 readers having voted, a massive 87% don’t want Joe as Director of Football.

Do You Want Joe Kinnear As Newcastle's Director Of Football?

We would hope that something is put in place fairly quickly, and then  see how it goes, and at this point, almost anything is better than what we have at the moment – which isn’t much.

With Colo staying, I’m officially starting the Mbiwa for LB campaign!

His performance there against Arsenal was the best display from a fullback at our club, in aeons!

    lol

  • 8 Tommyy // Jun 27, 2013 at 10:44 AM

Jamsha just spontaneously combusted in excitement. That’s great but how trivial and patronising are the topics put forward going to be? That’s my worry, if it’s going to be there just to placate fans but with no real input on the actual issues at the club, the don’t bother.

  • 9 croftus5678 // Jun 27, 2013 at 10:46 AM

    @6

i would rather see him settled in cb as he’s a great player there and a great captain also when he earns the respect of other players.
and collo will not be with us forever and i dread saylor/williamson combo >.<

Does anyone know if we did have a clause attached to the future sale of Carroll, I am sure we were due a percentage.

Hoping we sign a couple of players soon.

  • 19 mikeashleyisamackem // Jun 27, 2013 at 11:20 AM

  • 20 Mag.no // Jun 27, 2013 at 11:21 AM

    Wilson Eduardo isn’t exactly a goalscorer…

    Loaned out from Sporting CP he managed;
    2012-2013 – 6 goals for Academica
    2011-2012 – 7 goals for Olhanense
    2010-2011 – 5 goals for Beira-Mar

  • 21 Darnik // Jun 27, 2013 at 11:21 AM

Have you seen the article in The Mag about the reaction of Marselles supporters to the news we have bid 14mil euros for Cignac, Comments like ‘ I’l give him a piggy back all the way to Newcastle’, and ‘Please let it be true’ and incredulity at the 14 mil bid. with almost all of them saying I’d take their hand off if Newcastle were daft enough to pay that.

Only comment I seen was telling us to leave him alone. To be honest though that means nothing as our supporters would say the same about Tiote who is a quality player. A lot would probably say it with Cisse.

I’ve already seen it been written about Cabaye and Ben-Arfa on Facebook.

well looks like its gonna be another silent day at st james nowt new there they have appointed that women she has told us sweet fa that we didnt already know we need to start comunicating better need a fans furum blah de blah ,how pet tell us something we dont already know like what the hell goes on ive never known a club make everything so difficult they should a released a statement ,pardew should be saying something am not going to st james this year till the club starts treating us wit a little respect they know we are all dying to know whats happening.

rotonda…sorry mate…just picked it up on the newsnow site so apologies for that

  • 42 rainrix // Jun 27, 2013 at 11:55 AM

In regards to that Portuguese lad, if he’s fast and talented then i say he’s exactly what we need. I’d think that cisse will still be expected to do most of the heavy lifting in terms of goals, and we all know cisse is quite capable of being prolific. The problem is cisse has been isolated a lot of last season, a player who can play alongside him with different attributes and can create his own chances would be great. Definitely a better option then bent.

Bony and PEA would still be 1st choice but by the looks of things we aren’t getting them.

  • 43 Belfast // Jun 27, 2013 at 12:03 PM

  • 47 toonluvva // Jun 27, 2013 at 12:21 PM

I see that the Man Utd Dutch coach is to leave soon, not being required by Moyes.

NUFC are in desperate need of a good coach, so why not make an approach?

If needs be, I would rather see him arrive than some average player. Coaches don’t get injured, and can improve the skills of those players already at the club.

  • 48 Rotonda heights // Jun 27, 2013 at 12:30 PM

    Toonluvva

Because according to them there’s nothing a continental coach could teach the chuckle brothers JFK and Pardew. Is it Mueselsteen or similar name?

Apparently Pardew was asked if he would like a foreign coach to come in and he said he already had a magnificent coaching staff. Go figure!

This could only happen to us. The best squad assembled in years by Carr, being overseen by Pardew and now JFK.

Carr has time and again got us quality only to be undermined by Pardew who wanted Obertan and now Bent and Tomkins and it seems as if Pardew is getting his way. Can’t see Carr staying tbh to have all his hard work undone by 2 non-entitites

  • 49 Belfast // Jun 27, 2013 at 12:39 PM

Fans forum? A good idea in theory but in practice it’ll all end in tears IMO.

Mr Ashley has adopted the style of royalty, “never complain, never explain”

It’s his club and he really doesn’t have to explain anything to anyone.

What I would like though is for him to listen and take advice from people who understand the game. Appointing a DoF was a good step, but he got the wrong man.

Mr Ashley, you have obviously surrounded yourself with a good management team at SportsDirect. Why not get a decent management team at Newcastle? It need not cost too much money, will provide better value for money and bring the stability that you have wanted at the club.

The majority of NUFC fans are aware that we cannot match the likes of Man City, Man Utd & Chelsea for spending power. They simply want to see a well organised, committed club turn out every week, home or away, seeking to deliver quality football.

Off topic – I have applied for a season ticket (new application) and have heard nothing as yet. I know they deal with renewals first but as deadline day was May 31st – I thought I might have heard something by now, anybody else heard anything? Maybe I should ask Wendy :)

What’s everyone’s obsession with bony? Is it just yo sign a player for the sake of it? We never sign many players that are linked in the papers but he is slow as shite anyway. The type of player who can score for fun against Dutch defences but wouldn’t get a sniff here.

In my opinion we need to work on the supply from behind cisse as he is already our 20 goal player.

  • 77 Tommyy // Jun 27, 2013 at 1:53 PM

If I were a player like Bony, Swansea would be a far greater attraction.

    1) Laudrup is internationally renowned and respected.

    2) Swansea are in Europe.

    3) Swansea play attractive football.

    4) Swansea don’t have the turmoil we do.

    5) Swansea have shown progression every year for a while now.

  • 87 jayphoto // Jun 27, 2013 at 2:01 PM

Regarding Tomkins and Bent – if they come in as squad players (bent alongside a big striker such as PEA) then im all for it! Tomkins is an
Upgrade on willo as is bent on shola! The worrying thing for me is, if PEA is carrs choice, as was MYM, what if they come in an Pardew uses them over Aubameyang and Yanga-mbiwa?? Hes played Jonas with zero form all last season ahead of marv who was our most creative player,He played Obertan ahead of HBA the season before in countless matches! Not sure id want pardew with these players at his disposal if they come in alongside continental big names! As a manager hes far far too cautious and for me will always take the ford fiesta with 90k on the clock thats never failed an MOT over the new bentley on a sunday afternoon

Jenkins has also refused to sign any player represented by said agent meaning they pulled out of laudrups top target Aspas which was 95% done letting the bindippers jump in and snatch him!Not sure id join a club where the manager who brought me could walk at any moment!

IMO not only will we have trouble attracting top players, Pardew will have trouble keeping our alleged stars

the manager is always a major consideration (after the money has been agreed) in attracting top players

To be fair Pardew has kept colo and HBA so far! And cabaye has recommended close friends of his (debuchy) to join the club with pardew as manager! I think managers do attract players to clubs but its not on reputation! Its on meeting them and talking about their plans! I think there is only a few managers in the world who could attract players on reputation, you can’t say managers like Moyes, Rodgers, Clarke, lambert Etc are attracting players because of the careers they have had! Id argue with F.A cup finals, manager of the year, Europa cup QF pardew has achieved more than any of those managers yet theyll still manage to sign top players and have signed top players in the past! Both fellaini and mirallis turned down big clubs to join moyes at everton with no europe on offer!
Pards is charasmatic and like it or not the players seem to like him! Trust me, you’d know if HBA was unhappy with him and hes fallen out with every manager hes ever had including the big names of deschamps and blanc! Dont rate pardew tactically but theres no way hed be a reason for a top player not to come! Money? Thats a reason! 400 miles from london? No champions league? These are the reasons not to join nufc, not the manager!

So any sign of Torq et al? They said it was a big week for us.

That Mehdy denies signing for the scum and belhanda has had no concrete offers.
Can’t find any details or videos on this Wilson Eduardo at all , apart from one goal a few years ago.

And yes it’s obvious that MA is trying to placate the fans with what he deems as eye candy.

Big news for us that blanc is at PSG! Means no chance theyll take HBA and that theyll probably try and top Monaco to sign Cabaye! PSG and ASM havent bid against each other for a player yet and cabaye, most likely the next french cpt and darling of french mefia would be the first! Both teams are really trying to top each other and a bidding war could see us sell cabaye for far more than market value! If it happens itll be not because if desire for cabaye but for the politics of outbidding the other party! Blanc to PSG is fantastic news for us as he has a history of not really fancying most of our french stars aside from YC, and PSG for me was the one shadow overllooking our team

I agree, Tommy Cassidy was a class act. It took him some time to settle down into his natural game, but he had a remarkable set of skills that went unappreciated by many fans. He maybe couldn’t make the ball talk quite like Jinky, or drift past 3 players before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 30 years like Tony Green, but on his day Cass could boss the middle of the park (on those occasions the team actually used it…) or prove a real handful out wide despite his deceptively lumbering style at times.

One of the few players from that ’70s era that would have fit in well with the modern game.

Also – with arsenal, chelsea, man city, liverpool, man utd and spurs ALL looking for a marquee striker signing that only swansea have bid for Bony!? Chelsea even have an agreement with Vitesse for first option on their players and their coaches have held guest sessions with vitesse, they will have seen him more than anyone yet are not interested…..yet they are trying to take van ginkel…Not a good sign!
Bony is nowhere near the player some on here make him out to be! You can always tell when people have actually watched a player snd when theyve just youtubed one! Wouldn’t top 10m for ANY striker in the eredivisie, kolbein Sighorsson and Victor Fischer are worth a punt at 6-8m but if youre going to pay more than 6m for a player from this league at the moment i would only go for one that has come from ajax academy, their record of success abroad is far greater than anywhere else! They prepare their players better for the global game

Lot of media outfits got us closing in on Belhanda!!? Take it from me as someone who watches ligue 1 live alot and is regularly workin in france, this would be our best signing since Coloccini! Awst from youtube, belhanda is like HBA and Marveaux rolled into 1! Bit fiery mind but his work rate and training rate is top class! If kinnear pulls this off then for me, i am happy with the appointment! Nicollin at montpellier is awful to deal with and belhanda is the jewell in montpelliers crown ahead of MYM and giroud! They want big money and i think there is no way llambias could get ashley to shell out €16m for one player (12m)

Problem is with PEA is that hes waiting for certain clubs to come in for him! He’d jump to move to Milan as he has stated many times! He also was really close to joining man city when mancini was there last Jan, rumour was that he was mancinis #1 summer target and hed still like to play there! Aubameyang is alot better than people think, hes good enough to make it into arsenal or citys 11, if we sign him itl be the same as when we signed MYM that his preferred choices just didnt come in and he HAS to leave ASSE this summer, hes hit a ceiling there

  • 185 AaranD // Jun 27, 2013 at 4:55 PM

Really hope we snap up Belhanda (or Siem De Jong), he would provide that link we lack between midfield and attack.

    Krul
    Deb – Colo – MYM – Santon
    Cabaye- Sissoko
HBA – Belhanda -PEA?? (Some tricky winger!!)
    Cisse/Bony

That would be the starting 11, which by all accounts is pretty decent!
The 18 man squad would be.
Elliot, Saylor, Haidara, Anita, Tiote, Marveaux, Gouffran.

With that team I feel Cisse would really shine as well, he would be easily a 20 goal a season striker as they would create so many chances. The transfers will really depend on the style Pardew wants to play. We are linked with PEA and Bony both are quality strikers but are very different. If we get both, doubt it, I think PEA would be one of the wide men and Bony would be competition for Cisse as they are similar players (Poachers).

All in all I feel a player like Belhanda is a must and will really make the difference for us, more so than a striker. As without that link on the pitch any one of our strikers will be on scraps!!

  • 186 WWYCD // Jun 27, 2013 at 4:56 PM

PEA and Zouma? Shut the front door man. Highly doubt there is anything in that at all

All this talk about transfers is sounding way too positive, some of you are at risk of being incredibly disappointed.

Also proud, it doesn’t count as an exclusive if you simply copy and paste a link from a website, you’re just getting lazy now.

Zouma and PEA? Not a snowball in hell’s chance, I’d be delighted to be proven wrong of course.

Realistically we are going to sign Bent aren’t we?

  • 192 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jun 27, 2013 at 5:03 PM

As far as signing strikers go, I do think we need a quick pacey hard working striker who can run off the shoulder of the last defender.

If we’re looking at Bent for between 5m-7m, why don’t we look into signing Shane Long? The guy would be absolutely perfect for us, we missed out big time when WBA snapped him up for 6m.

  • 193 colwell // Jun 27, 2013 at 5:04 PM

    Tudor

We’re led to believe that Pardew doesn’t have much say in signings. I’d find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t have been interested in Long, he’s a very good player but perhaps they thought 6m was too much for a Championship player.

How much do you think it would take to sign him from WBA now?

  • 199 Ketsbaia9 // Jun 27, 2013 at 5:17 PM

The only way Danny can go is downwards. He’s extremely lucky to get a move to the championship. He’s cost us a lot of money in the last few seasons, so I’m glad to see the back of him. The only goal he scored for us was a fluke against Forest where he meant to cross it and it went in.

I’m now waiting for Willo etc to leave.

  • 201 cyprus // Jun 27, 2013 at 5:23 PM

    @193,
We always lament what is gone, but I think he’s more instinctive than Ba. It was almost embarrassing the way he was scoring when he came. Ba, such a nice and cool dude, was losing his composure…

Cisse scored more goals than his tally shows, he’s the most naturally instinctive CF we’ve ever had. Ok, that’s the good part…

NOW, can he learn to play with someone else? Can he improve his game + vision?

  • 202 Ketsbaia9 // Jun 27, 2013 at 5:30 PM

I’d be satisfied with that, but we need more than one striker.
