Newcastle are starting to make bids for players in the transfer market, and there are reports that Newcastle are not only interested in St. Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but also in their top 18 year-old center-back Kurt Zouma, and if the news is to be believed in France Football, Newcastle will launch a £25M bid for the two of them.
Joe Kinnear – we can work together
Joe Kinnear has talked today to the local press, and he says that Alan Pardew, Graham Carr and him can all work together for the good of the club, and work to improve Newcastle’s squad.
We certainly hope that is true, and it could be that Joe is too busy traveling to scout players, for him to interfere too much with what Alan Pardew is doing with the squad in preparing for matches.
This is what Joe said today:
“I’ve known Graham since he started off managing in non-league football,” “I’d known Graham for 10 years when he was at Spurs. “We’re both on the same street.”
“As long as it’s truthful talk, it’s something positive.” “We’re going to sit down and ask Alan Pardew ‘what do you think about the team? “What do you think we need?’”
“I’m going to say what I say. Alan’s going to say what he says.” “We’ll sit down and discuss things. We’re not kids. We want the best for Newcastle.”
“Three of us can sit down and iron out what we think is the best for Newcastle. ” “Our role is to get the best players and the best team that Newcastle have. That’s what I intend to do.”
I’m not saying ‘hey – let’s go and get Ronaldo and Messi.’ They’re out of our range,” “Each night I’ll be going to matches.” “Maybe I’ll be going out of the country with Graham. We’ll travel around.“We’ll go elsewhere to try and open the doors on new signings.”
When Dennis Wise had the Director of Football job he stayed in London and operated from there, and Graham Carr is stationed in Northampton, a club that he was once both played for and managed.
But from what we can tell Joe plans to reside in Newcastle, but that could change, and while he will attend some first team matches , his first priority is to scout players and check on possible transfer targets, so he will not be at all the games, and will be travelling a lot.
So maybe this thing can work well – we’ll still have to wait and see – but the latest news that we are about the bid £25M for two top St. Etienne players is good news.
But the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so we have to wait and see how well we do in the transfer market, and after last season’s disappointment , we need some good players brought in this summer.
