Joe Kinnear – We’ll Get The Best Players For Newcastle

Newcastle are starting to make bids for players in the transfer market, and there are reports that Newcastle are not only interested in St. Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but also in their top 18 year-old center-back Kurt Zouma, and if the news is to be believed in France Football, Newcastle will launch a £25M bid for the two of them.

Joe Kinnear – we can work together

Joe Kinnear has talked today to the local press, and he says that Alan Pardew, Graham Carr and him can all work together for the good of the club, and work to improve Newcastle’s squad.

We certainly hope that is true, and it could be that Joe is too busy traveling to scout players, for him to interfere too much with what Alan Pardew is doing with the squad in preparing for matches.

This is what Joe said today:

“I’ve known Graham since he started off managing in non-league football,” “I’d known Graham for 10 years when he was at Spurs. “We’re both on the same street.”

“As long as it’s truthful talk, it’s something positive.” “We’re going to sit down and ask Alan Pardew ‘what do you think about the team? “What do you think we need?’”

“I’m going to say what I say. Alan’s going to say what he says.” “We’ll sit down and discuss things. We’re not kids. We want the best for Newcastle.”

“Three of us can sit down and iron out what we think is the best for Newcastle. ” “Our role is to get the best players and the best team that Newcastle have. That’s what I intend to do.”

I’m not saying ‘hey – let’s go and get Ronaldo and Messi.’ They’re out of our range,” “Each night I’ll be going to matches.” “Maybe I’ll be going out of the country with Graham. We’ll travel around.“We’ll go elsewhere to try and open the doors on new signings.”

When Dennis Wise had the Director of Football job he stayed in London and operated from there, and Graham Carr is stationed in Northampton, a club that he was once  both played for and managed.

But from what we can tell Joe plans to reside in Newcastle, but that could change, and while he will attend some first team matches , his first priority is to scout players and check on possible transfer targets, so he will not be at all the games, and will be travelling  a lot.

So maybe this thing can work well – we’ll still have to wait and see – but the latest news that we are about the bid £25M for two top St. Etienne players is good news.

But the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so we have to wait and see how well we do in the transfer market, and after last season’s disappointment , we need some good players brought in this summer.

Agree, would be great for a loan..possible option to buy add on too. He is certainly good enough to make our bench and as well lack a good wide man he is an option we should look into.

I’m not a fan of kinnear…think when dealing with big ego professionals in any walk of life you need to know everything about them, including names otherwise a lot of them dont give you the time of day.

But saying that if he is willing to work with pardew and carr, compile the best players and most needed into a list and do what nobody else has done and get ashley to part with some cash for a few big deals (15+mil for PEA) then fair play to him.

If ashley hired him he must respect him, as kinnear certainly isn’t a yes man…so hopefully he can prize open his wallet enough to get a few extra mil to drop out.

Apparently the split between the two players is supposed to be £13.7m for PEA and £11.3m for Zouma, I would be surprised if we spend over £13m on one player, and if we sign an 18 year old centre half for £11.3m then I will apologise profusely to JFK and then go to Rome, have a word with the Pope and get JFK to be Saint JFK, because if he can persuade Mike Ashley to spend money like that then we would have to say that JFK has performed a bloody miracle ?

Hope you are right about that Sage. Lets all hope these rumours of movement in the transfer market are true. Still dont think we will land Aboomarang but you never know….

Agreed, Marveaux got 6 assists last season, and made 46 appearances in league, cups and Europe. Plus only 1 goal. Not to mention 6 assists is the most he has ever managed in a season. A 20 minute player off the bench, and if someone wants to part with north of £5million then I would be fine for the club to sell him.

    Two points:

I’m not sure whether MA’s been the problem, not spending money. The problem appears to have been with Llambias who was so focused on the managing the budget he lost sight of the realities of a small squad.

The second and I may seem penantic but ” Our role is to get the best players and the best team that Newcastle have. That’s what I intend to do.”

Get the best players Newcastle have? Need, surely?

But weren’t those 6 assists more than anyone else at the club?

we are going to all sit down and I’ll ask Alan what do you think we need, what do you want? You have been here two weeks joke and you haven’t done this already! or could this quote be from last week maybe? I really hope so because if they have not sat down yet to discuss transfers what chance have we got, it also makes the pea and zouma story non existent! blah blah we got plenty of time to sign players, not really guys when other clubs are signing our supposed targets up and we get found wanting! pissing in the wind springs to mind…..AGAIN!

    @ expat magpie

That must of hurt mate! but as stated in the thread where we had our little get together I had already mentioned the deal was far from done ( which was not said by me but by his club Vitesse on their website) so how was your last post for my benefit mate?

I had already told you or whoever was reading the post ( probably no one) this information ( not mine) (or my opinion) (posh paper who would of thought such a thing was possible) Good morning by the way

On the one hand JFK wants top players for the Toon; on the other hand Pardew asks for Best and Tomkins!
England are a very poor international side and those 2 cant even make the squad. If you read this Joe – take no notice of AP, his judgement is impaired.

Like I said, were not in with the big spenders. St. Etienne is a non starter. Were looking in other areas, home and abroad. we dont have that much but we will be generous.

Journos can link us with all the french clubs they like, just making it up to inflate fees. Graham Care and i went to the same primary school so we 100% understand each other.

Saying Marv got “only 6 assists” isn’t exactly being fair to him. Cisse missed some absolute gimme goals this year, more than a couple being potential Marv assists. He is a lot better than his stats show over the last year
