Newcastle Target – Decision Is Imminent

Newcastle have been vaguely linked with Montpellier star Younes Belhanda this month, and he has said he has the chance to join an English club, and that he will make his decision imminently.

Younes Belhanda

Younes Belhanda – likely moving to Aston Villa

But the only time we have been linked with Younes is earlier this month, when Aston Villa were reported to have put in a solid  bid for him, when Newcastle were said to be interested.

Certainly Graham Carr will know all about the Moroccan play-maker,  after he tracked the Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for over a year, before Newcastle signed the French International in January.

This is what Belhanda said to Sky Sports today:

“My decision is imminent, I have still got the time to think a bit but I will stand by the decision I will take,” “I wanted to play in the Premier League, I have the opportunity so let’s see.”

Sky Sports is reporting that a second offer had come from Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira, and we would be a bit surprised if Newcastle were really in the hunt for this player – and most likely he is talking about joining Aston Villa.

This is what he had said in early June, when Newcastle were supposed to be linked with him:

“I am definitely aware that there are five clubs with serious interest in me,” “The president told me how much I will cost for any team that wants me.” “I have told everyone that England will be my first choice.”

“Aston Villa is a great club with a big history playing in the best league in the world, so let’s see what will happen.”

It seems that Joe Kinnear has already put in some offers for our targets, so Newcastle’s first signing could be imminent, and it could be a surprise signing too –  and while we doubt it will be the Moroccan International – you never know.

For the record,  Belhanda joined the Montpellier Youth Academy at the age of 13, and since making his debut in the team’s first league match of the 2009–2010 season against Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 19, he has made 142 appearances with 29 goals and 16 assists for the former French Champions.

Belhanda has also played 22 times for Morocco with a couple of goals.

    Evening chaps.

I hate to promote myself on someone else’s blog, but I wrote my own article for another site and wanted some feedback, either good or bad so let me know what you think.

i can see PEA, Zouma & Belhanda going to others clubs because simply we haven’t bidden for any 1 and those type of players will probably hate waiting for us

It’s really exciting to see Aubameyang speak fondly about us recently, I just hope I am not building my hopes up for nothing but disappointment again.

If we do get Auba we will be flying and I would even praise Kinnear for making it happen.

Jamiemac- It’s hard to say really as it could be that Ashley splashed the cash only to get the TV Money and not lose out on millions.

I live in hope though that he does have real ambition and is going to go for it this summer.

Well Torq was (very unfortunately) somewhat correct about the DOF. He now has 1 night and 2 days for this to be ‘a very good week for us’.

Hate to use Youtube as a guide but that De Jong scores some good goals, and will play very well with Anita I imagine. Benny, Cisse, Aubameyang/Gouffran up top with Anita, Sissoko and De jong pushing up would be great. Cabaye is obviously off.

Me too mate but I think Bent and lad from Hammers are just names to throw out there with no real interest. Bent is old, ex mackem, big wages and no resale value plus his all round play won’t add to the team. Hammers lad costs too much for what he would add, don’t see either happening

agreed Jackson, hes no winger, probs will be to replace cabaye, but wont be too sad to see him go, thats if we even are interested in him, would be a brilliant signing if we got him, just heard some french guy on talk sport talking about our potential pea/zouma deal, apparently we are genuinely interested but so are a lot of clubs… also apparently this 16 year old lad from metz we’ve apparently signed is sh!t hot and could be quality in afew years….

    http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/hawksbee-and-jacobs/130628/laurens-newcastle%E2%80%99s-pursuit-aubameyang-kemen-and-zouma-200593

tell u what though, if we by some amazing miracle actually signed pea, zouma & belhanda, i’d hapily forget everything kinnear has ever said ahaha…

i joke… but would definately go some way into afirming my personal belief that it will actually turn out to be quite a shrude appointment, albeit their being better options out there. if deals get wrapped up quicker, we buy more solid players, and he remembers their names but doesnt really talk alot, i’ll be a happy man.

Does no one else think that even with some top top signings we’d merely be papering over the cracks due to the inadequate manager we have at the helm?

It’s all well and good having a collection of good players with technical ability, but it’s another thing to actually get them playing football in an attacking manner with good intent.
