Newcastle Could Lose Eight Englishmen In A Short Two Years

Shola Ameobi is still thinking over his options about whether he wants to leave his home town club to get more playing time at some other club next season.

Shola Ameobi – could leave this summer

But if Shola moves he will be the fifth English player we will have lost in the last two years after Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Danny Simpson and Steve Harper have moved on.

Danny signed for QPR on a three year deal this week, and Steve Harper has not yet been fixed up with a new club – but maybe this is why Alan Pardew is saying  we need more home based players in the squad and with Premier League experience.

If Shola moves he’s the fifth one to leave and we are bringing in French players to replace them – because they are the best bargains on the continent – in other words they are the cheapest option.

But three more English players could also leave Newcastle this summer.

James Perch could be moved out this summer, since he has only one year left on his contract, and Newcastle will need to either extend his contract or sell him this summer, if they don’t want to lose him next summer, when he becomes a free agent.

And two others  are Mike Williamson and Dan Gosling, and if they do leave along with Perch and Ameobi,  that will be eight English players we will have lost in a short two years – so that’s obviously Alan Pardew’s concern.

Come September we could have lost Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Danny Simpson, Steve Harper, Shola Ameobi, James Perch, Dan Gosling and Mike Williamson since July of 2011.

There seems something wrong with that.

We really do have a hard on for french players! Rules state there must be english players also so we must speculate to accumulate in uk. So there must be some signings coming, maybe..

We need a clear out, there’s alot of dead wood has to go. There’s better player’s at reasonable prices out there to replace them.

The main problem with the lack of quality in our current squad is the standard of our current English players! Elliot, Williamson, Perch, R Taylor, Gosling, Ameobi and the now departed Simpson are quite clearly not good enough. We will never pay inflated prices on Englishmen, when we can pick up the likes of Sissoko ect ect for less. We need to produce our own, but when do we ever improve a young player? We should continue buying cheap foreign talent and spend more attention to our coaching staff. Maybe then we could bring our own English players through.

    Bearsize:

Bent, Tomkins, Pilkington are Pardew’s English choices and are never ever going to get the pulses racing like Carr’s choices: PEA. Zouma, Kemen and possibly Belhanda.

Pardew’s only idea on not scoring from set pieces corners is to get taller players!!!! Tells you everything you need to know. If there is an opposite expression to cutting edge Pardew is it.

    Spot on

the problem is not buying foreign players, it’s the appalling coaching and fitness training that’s going on or lack of it.

bang on the money mate. English players are way over priced (Andy carrol).we were being apparently being quoted 10 mill for hughes from derby and juve sign tevez for the same,no brainer
Swansea have gone down the same foreign path as ourselves but Spanish rather than French
the biggest loser in the grand scheme of things is the national side because we have nobody coming through, and if there is there bought up by the likes of city and chelski to sit and rot behind big money signings coming in every season

British players may well be overpriced but PL rules state we need 8 in the squad. We have Krul (classed as homegrown) Elliot Perch Saylor . Raylor is injured and everyone seems to want shot of Gosling Ameobi and Willo.
That leaves Tav Fergie inman Neton and Dummet who all need to go on loan. Like it or not we have to buy some British players.
There is only room in the squad for 17 foreign players and we already have 16. The balance of our squad is all wrong.

I reckon we need a st like fred from brazil he would b class with pea up front but either way we need a st who can but 20 goals in for us every season

I also agree with jazzyp some kid from derby is rated the same as tevez just shows how overatted young english players are

Perch has come into his own last two seasons and I dont think too many would grumble if we gave him another 2 year.

Ameobi although loyal, and a pain in every mackams arse, isnt good enough for our club, I think hull would do well with him and id wish him the best.

Williamson is a championship quality player or a 4th to 5th choice cover option, he has had two decent games from what I recall.

Redmond and ince would really bump the numbers and are already ready for a few appearances imo. Think hughes might cost too much and unless bent is 3.5 or cheaper I wouldn’t touch.

The down side of all the French at our club they aren’t used to the physical side of the premier league, having said that they have better skills than most of the dead wood English we have.
