We all know that Newcastle’s French players have been told to learn English over the summer, and it will be interesting to see how far some of our five new players have progressed with their English lessons when pre-season training starts on Thursday.
Massadio Haidara – went to USA for his holidays
It;s been a very quiet summer for Newcastle fans so far – well apart from that Joe Kinnear nonsense, but we all could all have done without that, because he embarrassed the club, as well as himself..
20 year-old Massadio Haidara went on vacation to the US this summer, in an attempt to learn English, and the news is that if the players have not learned enough English when they return, manager Alan Pardew will send them out on a crash course – of three English lessons a week.
Newcastle now have ten Frenchmen in the squad, and Pardew wanted to bring some British players into the squad this summer, but transfers have been delayed – probably because of the appointment of Joe Kinnear as the new transfer king at Newcastle – the new Director of Football.
But we’re into July tomorrow and it’s been six weeks since the season ended with that 1-0 defeat against Arsenal – and the only good news we’ve had is that Fabricio Coloccini has agreed to stay at the club – but that was huge since he’s a top player for us.
But if Alan Pardew leaves the club, it’s a good question if Colo would still want to stay, because he’s a big fan of Alan Pardew.
As far as our French-speaking players are concerned and their English – Alan Pardew should send them out to be interviewed in English this summer, there’s nothing quite like being thrown in at the deep end – to make rapid progress.
And it’s not just the five new Frenchman, but all our French speaking players like Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote, have to continue to improve their English.
We hope the news surrounding Newcastle picks up this week, as Alan Pardew and the players arrive back for pre-season training.

Comment #1We should be trying to sign some players instead of placing extra pressure on young French players, theyll come good if the environment is right.

IMO we’re waiting for Cisse’s future to be sorted before we make our move for Bent. We’re defo going after a big name centre forward and that would give us two good centre forwards with Shola and Campbell in reserve.
If however Cisse does want to leave, then we’ll be in for Bent to bridge the gap.
That’s how I see it playing out…I think Cisse wants to go back to Germany.

Comment #5Transfer window opens Monday. Players reporting back for pre-season and it’s good to see we’ve got our new faces in to enable their integration into the squad.
We’ve known for long enough that Ashley was keen on a root and branch review of the club and surely that could and should have been under way and complete soon after the end of last season. As is, it appears not and any player movements have been delayed and pre-season preparations up in the air, again.
Ah well, with the benefit of hindsight…….

Comment #6A big part of the problem at the toon is Carr has found us some excellent talent, the club have gone after them and secured them, and then Pardew is setting up the team in such a way the obvious talent at his disposal is not being used to it’s full potential.
As someone else has said previously stated, it’s like buying a ferarri and running it on chip fat.
Pardew just comes out and says some of the players Carr has recruited are just not good enough and he wants bigger stronger english players with premiership experience and that just about sums him up really…he wants to play they way he’s always played which is now tactically so far out of date it’s a clear indication of the negative mindset he has.
If we are to make any progress whatsoever this year, we need to get rid of Pardew and bring in someone who can extract the full potential of the wonderful squad we’ve built up and hopefully use the bags of money we’ll get from selling players this year to extend the squad in such a way we just don’t have a good first 11 but a good first 14 which will make all the difference going forward.
I see three purples going and six replacements coming in and in my book that’s a massive step in the right direction because what we’re doing right now ain’t working and we can achieve the above without Ashley having to spend much more than about 5 million.

Comment #11Top players are induced to a club by top managers, who they want to play for. We are linked with Bent and Tomkins – I rest my case.

Comment #14How about this – wouldn’t it be good if the shopping is done and were just waiting for the window.
So called target meetings are actually meetings to check all signings are still ok and reinforcing the need for secrecy until July 1st.
I can dream……
