Newcastle are said to be the number one choice of 29 year-old striker Darren Bent – who returned from his honeymoon over the weekend, and now wants to get fixed up with a new club as quickly as possible.
Darren Bent – no bids yet
There have been no bids yet for the England striker, who is still hoping to make the England World Cup squad next year in Brazil – although England are by no means certain to qualify for that tournament.
But Darren has told friends he is only interested in Newcastle if Alan Pardew is the manager, and of course, Pardew and Bent had an excellent partnership when Alan was managing Charlton Athletic, and Darren scored 37 goals in 79 appearances for the club, who were still relegated in 2007.
There are a number of fans against signing Darren Bent, but we think he would be a decent signing at around £5M as the second striker brought in this summer, with Newcastle hopefully also bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
from St. Etienne.
Here’s the poll we had out on Darren bent this summer.
The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that former Managing Director Derek Llambias made contact with Aston Villa about a potential bid, before Derek resigned in protest at the shock appointment of Joe Kinnear, and showed that Newcastle are anything but a happy family at the moment.

Comment #82Really think with the new tv deal that he ‘ll spend more than before! Im expecting 15m plus 15/20m of the cabaye money (really think hes gone) to be put back in! My point wasnt really about transfer budgets anyway , it was about giving JFK the chance to prove himself or fail as DoF! Seems to me anyone whos ever worked with him has glowing reports, takes a lot for joey barton to not slag someone off whilst having a pop at our board

Comment #84Yeah, I guess Joe convincing Ash to spend 40 mill on duds is entirely plausible considering the laundry list of mishaps inflicted on us in recent years. Then again, I wouldn’t put it past him to shell out for exactly the right bodies either, probably out of sheer contrariness.

New vacancy just cropped up working at NUFC:
Job title – PA to Joe Kinnear
Salary – NMW
Hours – FT
Duties include –
Giving Joe a morning sponge bath.
Shaving his back.
Wiping his bum and in case of him soiling himself, changing his shreddies and washing the dirty ones, by hand, as Mike wont have a washer fitted as the leccy will cost too much.
Running errands to the nearest porn shop to buy him his daily smut rag and bringing him it in your mouth, on your hands and knees like a pooch.
Giving Joe booster English lessons – reading, writing and speaking.
Who wants it?

Comment #86Rotonda, ITK, I prefer it as a bit of sixth sense ha ha, after all there are many who say there wont be any signings arnt there, its their opinion, as for Bent n Tomkins, they have both worked under Pardew with quote a bit of success, not my ideal choice by a long way, but Tomkins in for an outgoing Williamson, well hes better than willy, and Bent would almost certainly score more goals than wor Shola, but lets all wait and see.
The wait is unpleasant of course, but I feel we have to get new players in as early as possible.
My preferred list would be
Wijnaldum, top drawer.
PEA,class act.
Cardozo, real quality.
vainquaer, (perch role but better)
another keeper, young alnwick not ready for understudy.
Siam de jong, immense signing.
belhanda, quality player, great football brain.
We probably have targets that we are not aware of as well, Cardozo is the interesting one as he looked like a player who could fit in almost any team from what I have seen, maybe wants champs league footie? but the newspapers are reckoning between 10/15 million would get him through the door, a proper strong skillful aware and mega talented centre forward.

Comment #87Joe Blog, that job would be a beauty for our very own John Tudor, it would get him out of the house in his retirement, he n JK could spend all day on the debating table, with John givin it to JK with his sharp one liners, while wiping his a.se of course ha ha!

Comment #88First time I hear about Nyland being linked to us. Belhanda had no choice. Only Kiev and Al Yazeera met price tag and Montepellier wanted him gone.

How is the list a joke? Because you perceive the players not be valued at those prices, which is of course subjective? Anyway, I was merely posting it to give everyone a source of info for who’s entering the final year of the contracts, can’t say I cast my eye over the valuation column, because I said, it’s an ambiguous factor.

Seeking out discarded or lost coins on the floor in public places, standing ‘casually’ on them until nobody’s looking, then bending down and picking them up, isn’t a business.

Wasn’t having a pop at you there mate. Chill lad. Lots of people on here use that website as a valuation tool though. I’ve even seen some people label it the most accurate site for transfer values.
Anyway, I reckon there are maybe 4/5 players on that list that might interest the club, but unlikely to be enough to persuade us to part with money for.
I did notice Albrighton on it, what happened to him? 2 years ago he was being touted as the next big thing when he broke into the Villa team.

Where did.Nyland link come from? Any other info? I doubt it would be smart move since it would take up a foreign spot for reserve keeper.

Comment #102pea / cisse and bent as 3rd choice with cambell covering ^^
would be a great signing imo and be everything shola should have been (experianced striker who can still score and is still not past it to teach cambell)
perfect for acon /cup cover also and a bully up front to give cisse the time and space he desperatly needs in tough games.

Comment #103The Bent story just will not go away, wonder if Ashley is hanging on till the last minute, to see how many supporters say enough is enough & finally walk away! before he decides to spend some cash on players , but please not Bent or Spearing. However having supportd the Toon for over 55 years I am never surprised at what happens, from the McKeag days to the present nothing has changed, no one knows whats going on behind the scene, perhaps Carr is about to come up with something special, to give us all a boost or will see a sports flash that tells us some of our best players are gone and our dreams blown for another season.
