Newcastle To Lodge Improved Bid For Top Striker Target

9:27 am, Monday, July 1st, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 32 Comments

Joe Kinnear wants to move quickly for Newcastle’s transfer targets, and it looks like Joe is trying to persuade owner Mike Ashley to put in an improved bid for St. Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Newcastle will increase their bid?

The Newcastle Journal is reporting that Kinnear is keen to get Newcastle’s transfer season going with a first signing this week, to coincide with the pre-season training starting on Thursday.

There are a number of clubs interested in the 24 year-old Aubameyang, but reports suggest the striker, who had a great season for St. Etienne last term, has been impressed by Newcastle’s resolve to sign him and the fact that owner Mike Ashley made a personal visit to France with Chief Scout Graham Carr, to watch him play last February.

And it will not have gone unnoticed that Newcastle have 10 Frenchmen currently at the Tyneside club, and the Gabon International could settle down very quickly if he arrived this summer.

Kinnear knows he has got off to a terrible start in his new job ay Newcastle, and that the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and it would benefit the new Director of Football and the owner, if they can deliver Newcastle’s number one transfer target this summer.

In fact it would be a coup and Newcastle’s biggest signing under owner Mike Ashley..

Newcastle were supposed to have bid £15M recently for the striker, but were outbid by rich Russian club Anzhi, although it’s not at all clear that Aubameyang wants to play his football in Russia.

St. Etienne will also be hoping that a bidding develops for the player, which is the last thing Newcastle want.

But it seems that Newcastle could well go in with an improved bid for the player who scored 19 goals last season in France.

We hope so, and we hope it’s this week.

  • 18 TorqToon // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:49 AM

    Morning Sean.

Nothing new my friend, but as I was saying to yo, I wouldn’t necessarily believe everything you read about NUFC and our interest in PEA. We insist on confidentiality whenever we discuss figures and offers.

We called Vainqueur week’s ago. But now he is officially a free agent, there is nothing stopping him signing for the toon. A good addition, albeit not the world beater we are all waiting for!

Good morning to you all. Duty calls.

pea has gone he is meeting with dortmund officials today champ league finalists will do this deal, newcastle trying to get him for pennies as usual had they bid 20 million straight away at least we would a been able to talk to him and maybe got an early lead on him but he is gone ,who do we turn to now who else is out there i for one think pea is the new thierry henry

  • 20 dantoon85 // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:50 AM

    Please let this be true

  • 21 TorqToon // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:53 AM

MAIAM – Was reported that he met with Dortmund on saturday. Not today.

No bid from them, and after expressing his desire to play in England, and the great feedback he gave re NUFC in February, maybe we should hold firm on this.

    Keep the faith mate! :-)

Morning everyone! So joke wants a signing before he fooks off does he? Well here’s a tip ” don’t got on a pre planned holiday the week the transfer window opens” what a whopper this guy is and if pardwho is going to have an input in the transfers why isn’t he back in Newcastle! No another one who goes on holiday at a critical time of year, just about sums the plebs up, and things were meant to be hotting up as soon as the window opened! My arse! the only thing hotting up is joke n pardwho’s body’s from the sun! I really hope they don’t forget to put some sun cream on and get roasted to a crisp! Hopefully they are both in Nevada ;)

Anyway torq what do you mean don’t believe everything you read about pea mate, are you saying its bs we are making a move or its true?

  • 23 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:55 AM

That’s that settled then. Cabaye is staying! :-) Good ol’ Colin, brightening up my morning!

Yeah, Colin said something one day (about 2 weeks ago), and then an hour later Indy claimed to have received an email from a ‘sauce’ which basically said what Colin’s tweet had said.

  • 24 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:57 AM

this deal would a been done already he obviously considering alot of offers i just cant see us been in the running as we will be pennie pinching smells like remy all over again

  • 25 Greebol1892 // Jul 1, 2013 at 9:57 AM

Pardew wants him, Carr wants him, I assume Kinnear wants him because of the initial bid.

Would love to see us beat-off the competition for such a player! All we can do is hope….

  • 26 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 1, 2013 at 10:02 AM

    arsenal now intrested

  • 27 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 1, 2013 at 10:04 AM

hopefully we are offering cool cash

  • 28 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 1, 2013 at 10:08 AM

here is my alternative to pea, nani ,he would be smashing signing and obv has quality, premier league experience and has said he wants out and with faith shown in him could be an excellent signing i just dont think we would pay the wages

  • 29 JARRAMAG // Jul 1, 2013 at 10:18 AM

    Improved bid really?
We have not bid for him and wont-do you think Ashley is going to pay over £15 mill for him when cheaper players are out there?

    Of course he isn’t

Ashley wants to recoup the £18 mill he spent in Jan so all we can expect is the sale of Cabaye £20-25 mill
and the difference spent on a striker-£5-7 mill and books balanced

No capital expenditure(the motto we use)

    God help us

  • 30 hadthetshirt // Jul 1, 2013 at 10:49 AM

“I would love it just love it” if we get him :)

  • 31 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jul 1, 2013 at 2:22 PM

Joe needs to use some of the Language from his TV intervieuws ! Especially in negotiating with Ashley ?

  • 32 widowmagandapoke // Jul 1, 2013 at 4:26 PM

How can we negotiate any deals if the principals are on their jollies?
I’d like to think he’s on his way but…but wait, maybe if I stir my porridge the wrong way in the morning and sit on the lavatory backwards blowing a dandelion clock, maybe that would work.
