Reports Dortmund Have Still To Agree Fee For Aubameyang

8:59 pm, Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 73 Comments

There were reports earlier today  on the web-site Gazzetta dello Sport, that suggested Borussia Dortmund had agreed a fee of £13M (about €15M) with Saint Etienne for Newcastle target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 987

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - on his way to Bundesliga?

And that seemed to be justified,  because why would a Dortmund official travel to France to discuss the transfer, if a fee hadn’t already been agreed – it could happen, but it’s a little unlikely.

However, there is a report on the French site maidenfoot today which says the following:

Despite the assertion of the Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday morning, no agreement has yet been reached between Saint-Etienne and Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Although ASSE has already given its consent, the Greens have yet to agree with the final details to complete the deal.

And a source close to Aubameyang had this to say:

“The offer of Dortmund has not yet reached the €15M expected by Saint-Etienne”

We’d like to think there will be a hitch in the deal, but it seems to us that Dortmund are way out in the lead on this, and are now definite favorites to sign Newcastle’s number one transfer target.

However we’ve been wrong before – so there’s always hope. :D

But if the German club does that, it will be the third transfer window running that Newcastle have failed to get their number one transfer target through the door.

Sadly – it doesn’t look good.

Comments welcome.

rvw norwich ^^ again wth !!!
so apart from ideye i can not think of anyone now seeing as we will not bid for prem strikers !
bent and yes fair enough i would take him (as a 3rd striker)
so pls someone give me some top quality strikers who we may go for ?

Has anyone else seen the reports that chelsea are considering loaning BA to west brom? haha bet he wish he never left!

  • 3 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:05 PM

It’s a done deal. So don’t get your hopes up.

  • 4 lesh // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:06 PM

    Bring back Llambias!

At lest we half knew where we were with him but with Kinnear, wherethefkarewe? That’s a bird that’s git no legs and tries to live in long grass. Hence, the Wheretgefkarewe Bird!

forgive the typos. There’s no block caps yet though. Yet

  • 7 toon kk // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:09 PM

We might as well forget about him. We’ll end up with Bent.

Austin, Rhodes, Ben Yedder, Volland,S.De Jong, Doumbia

  • 10 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:13 PM

Gamerio or Menez if Blanc don’t want them.

  • 11 croftus5678 // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:13 PM

this is so depressing i may watch highlight from our games last season to pretend we have the makings of an ambitious top 6 team >.<

  • 12 jazzyp // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:14 PM

third transfer window we’ve failed to bring in our number 1 target, just about sums up nufc’s transfer policy-f@ckin sh@t

  • 13 lesh // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:16 PM

How does one spell frustration? Kinnear!!!

As an afterthought and given Kinnear’s press drivelling, how long before Wendy Taylor’s decided she’s in a no win situation? Next for the departure lounge?

Wendy pet, you’re on a binding to nowt and nobody’d blame you if you said enough is enough! Bless you girl.

  • 14 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:17 PM

If get two assist machines Gouffran, Cisse and Campbell might be enough. Cisse used to be top scorer in Germany after all and half a season for us as well.

  • 16 Belfast // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:22 PM

    Very good point jazzyp.

    Same shit different window basically

  • 17 croftus5678 // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:22 PM

    @9&10

i’ll be honest and say gamerio is the only name that stands out there the rest are good but not the same quality i think we desp need i.e. bony/pea

menez is a winger i think and siem is atk mid.
yedder i think is young lad if i remember right and other 2 are good but champ’s players atm so would be 3rd choice striker material imo.
dunno about volland and dumbia though.

what annoys me most is teams around or below us are getting players that could well move them above us but suppose there is plenty of time yet just hate seeing all the best players getting tied up while we do nothing.

  • 18 lesh // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:22 PM

That’s the one jazzyp. She’s got no chance as long as kinnear’s allowed to run amok.

Any social workers or doctors on here who can get him sectioned, out of harms way. The man’s ill.

  • 19 Belfast // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:23 PM

It was De Jong last summer.

  • 20 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:24 PM

Dortmund for all I know didn’t have Aubameyang as their top target. So missing out on shouldn’t be the end of the world as long as you have your alternatives ready.

  • 21 toon kk // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:26 PM

What alot of people including MA don’t realise the transfer policy is w.nk, Yes a few well scouted players are great but to move forward you have to PAY for proven quality. These budget chancers keep your team average.

  • 22 popscott // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:26 PM

Maybe lame-arse going was because he was sick of being a yes man, he was trying to get Douglas in, maybe his wages were too much for MA and hence move along, now who can I get cheap to replace him who I know will be another puppet like pardew, I know, step forward the yes man I had before, the self professed genius that is Kinnear, just a thought, I’m bored.

  • 23 GatesheadMag // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:27 PM

I was just about to mention gamiero sazzer. Its all gone very quiet on him, this could be our signing out the blue which i was on about earlier

  • 24 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:28 PM

    croftus5678
If we play 4-3-3 then theres only room for one striker anyway.

  • 25 paul24 // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:29 PM

toon kk’s got it right, forget PEA and Bony. We’ll get Bent, he’s the cheapest.

  • 26 low fell mag // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:29 PM

Looks like we will have to take Rooney now .Gutted!

  • 27 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:29 PM

Dortmund was after Gamerio, but then turned their attention to Aubameyang.

  • 28 jazzyp // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:31 PM

take ba out of the equation 13 goals-take cisse out with 8 pl goals and we scored a mind blowing, wait for it, no wait 22 GOALS between the whole team for the whole 2012-13 season
I think this more than emphasises we seriously need an out and out goal scorer to mask what is glaringly obvious a big big issue for nufc

  • 29 lesh // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:33 PM

popscott. You’re bored? Ashley must be on a different planet if he can’t see the damage that’s being done to is investment.

I wonder, if MA, as a potential buyer looked at NUFC, would he seriously risk £267m on buying it?

    Not a chance

  • 30 Joe Blog // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:33 PM

    Dzeko – mark my words.

  • 31 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Juventus have to many up front and will most likely have clear out. Not sure if we can get Negredo or not.

Berbatov turned out well for Fulham.

  • 32 Belfast // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:34 PM

I think we’ll bid peanuts for Bent, villa will reject it, and we’ll end up with Carlton Cole.

I wouldn’t mind Darren Bent to be honest. As long as we sign another striker to go along with him.

  • 33 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Dzeko was also linked with Dortmund.

  • 34 Ian Toon // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:35 PM

sparky- Glad to hear you come in peace. I am a firm believer in the art of the possible and a pre season can make things a whole lot better. Remember the January signings need time to blend as a unit. Debuchy is likely to be more used to the physicality of the PL going forward. Santon needs to time his runs better and is a young talent that can only get better. The key is Tiote being disciplined in not trying to be overly ambitious. For me the biggest concern is in fact Saylor who at times is too gung ho. Yanga will be a PL star he has everything except experience of PL – his anticipation reading of a game and recovery is first class. I only see the need for 2-3 offensive players to get behind opposing defences and help out Cisse. The backbone of the side is already in place and will be first class. It will be good to have Tim back – hopefully having worked on his kicking. The rest of the players I have previously covered. I am not influenced by the unfounded rampant negativity, particularly as none of us really nows what Ashley is likely to do in the transfer market because he’s so unpredictable. I can’t believe though that he would bring Kinnear in unless it was to improve the transfer dealings given the situation in January.
I simply don’t buy the Kinnear to replace Pardew scenario. Time will tell but it’s far more satisfying to take a positive view in the absence of any concrete news at this juncture. The no news is good news applies for me. Personally I look forward to competing at the right end of the league.
Time will tell- take it easy.

Big strong very fast and direct .

  • 36 pizzicatochan // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:39 PM

If 12m for Dzeko, it could be a super buy. Given that Tevez left for only 10m… Keep dreaming! +5m for Guidetti too… and get Rodwell, Sinclair and Lescott for another 15m…

However, I still want Adam le Fondre.

  • 37 low fell mag // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:41 PM

Well said Ian Toon,,great to read something positive.,and constructive.

  • 38 popscott // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:42 PM

  • 39 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:42 PM

Rodrigo from Benfica if he want PL move.

  • 40 baztoon // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:44 PM

  • 41 jazzyp // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:45 PM

    I am a Geordie
we were linked back in may for this player for around 9mill
a cracking player who has already stated his desire to come to the prem league. and the toon were his preferred destination

  • 42 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:45 PM

Yeah Le Fondre, Shane Long are among some people favorites. Will they get us into CL league? Probably not. But at least we would avoid relegation.

  • 43 Newcastle Brown Alien // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:45 PM

I really feel we’re waiting for this remy verdict, As we wanted him, good player, no one wants him because of what he has (allegedly) done, relegated team = cheap, and bad reputation = cheap.

  • 44 toon kk // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:48 PM

Fingers crossed MA will put his hand in his pocket this week and make us all smile. We need something to cheer us up.

  • 45 popscott // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:49 PM

NB Alien, with current neg reporting do we really need another Titus/ Joey Barton scenario to add to our woes? Good player, not sure about the publicity mate!

  • 46 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Helder Postiga got relegated and scored 14 goals in La Liga.

  • 47 King Arfa // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Lads give it a rest man heard this heard that no one has a clue whats going on behind the scenes and to be honest not sure i want to know MA has got to be the most uninterested owner in the prem he only spent in January coz he realised how much money hed miss out on if we where to be relegated!

  • 48 beautifulmind // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:51 PM

I agree that we were probably never in for the player. MA is only buying players which will have high sell on values so he can pocket the profit to make up the difference bewteen the actual value of the club and what he wants for it so he can sell it on at the first opportunity without loss. this is why he employs people like jk as hes not thinking long term. He really doesnt care about the views of any of the fans. The pr team is there to simply keep fans buying tickets and merchandise! Rant over:-)

  • 49 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:54 PM

    Morata, Jese, Immobile, Gabbiadini, Hlolt

  • 50 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 9:58 PM

Dario Cvitanich(same amount of goals as PEA), Anthony Modeste

Facundo Ferreyra used to be linked with him.

  • 51 King Arfa // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:00 PM

Dzeko lol and why would he wanna sign for the
Bag of shite that is NUFC at this
    Moment in time

  • 52 pizzicatochan // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:01 PM

Sazzer, I would take Adam le Fondre as Shola’s upgrade. Didn’t really see that we are going to sign anyone with the calibre of Dzeko. I am not as positive as I used to be, but why bother before we actually hear anything? If we don’t take Douglas and Vaniquier and we have either sold or released Simpson, Perch, Amalfitano, Abeid, Gosling, etc, we HAVE TO get people, either squad players or star players.

  • 53 EastEndMagpie // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:01 PM

well said Ian Toon mate, completely agree,

If we can keep our players, we only need about 2-3 first team players, a striker, a winger and a centre back, and there are so many good players out there its ridiculous, so theres no rush, we havent lost any big players yet and no new news of bids so thats positive,

Im sure we will get some good players in, will be dissapointing to lose out on PEA, but remember when we wanted de jong, missed out on him, and then ended up with cisse who went on to bang in 13 in 12 while de jong got injured and lost all his form and his place in a poorer team…

Its not all doom and gloom, until you see concrete evidence of signings i wouldnt believe everything you read either.

fairly positive interview on the club site from cabs today aswell, thats a plus, also if we ended up with ideye or bony they would also be cracking signings, but theres so many great young players around….

if we got bent, he would score goals for fun so i dont know what all the slating of him is about (other than his filthy past times…) he clearly wouldnt be our no1 as we still have papiss, would be a great player to bring on if u need a goal???? defo wouldnt want him as our main striker but come on… that clearly wouldnt happen

  • 54 SupaToonKid // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:04 PM

Are people being serious when they suggest Le Fondre? LOL, why do people claim they want us to improve but want us to sign a Championship level centre forward?

  • 55 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    Jack McInerney

  • 56 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:12 PM

    pizzicatochan
He’s not my favorite. I rather buy midfielders with vision and passing foot than him.

Victor Fisher another one we have been linked with.

  • 57 pizzicatochan // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:14 PM

STK, le Fondre scored against us a few times I remember? We need bench warmers too.

Sazzer, Vickor Fischer is good in games and I haven’t watched him playing. He could be a good buy I reckon.

  • 58 Sazzer // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:15 PM

    Leon Best ;-p

  • 59 martoon // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:17 PM

I seriously doubt that JFK is capable of negotiating a deal at the top level – would you take him seriously? The only person capable now is Lee Charnley (I think that is his name) and he’s probably on holiday!!
I am really worried we won’t buy anybody because we don’t have the infra-structure or capable personel.

  • 60 Marty-Toon // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:19 PM

Maybe we need to play the lottery in the states and buy out Ashley and actually have fun with our precious club and see it in good hands with people around it that love it and want to see it go forward….here’s dreaming.
Really slow and boring or agonizing summer transfer market, for us anyhow.
For 3 years we’ve needed a striker of top quality,MA made huge profit on Wor Andy with cash up front thus making great interest on it.
Now get your hand in your pocket and get us a decent striker, not a has- been.
It’s one of the main things the team has been missing,do it now before we lose our top players because of lack of ambition from our owner.

It’s better to pay a little over the odds to get the player in than doing like we did last year and in January trying to save a few bob and losing out…..

    RANT OVER

No need for rants just yet lads…only day 2 of 60 odd so plenty time for JFK to prove us all wrong.

he’s lulling us into a false sense of despair and will come up trumps shortly…all part of the drama!

2 good centre forwards, one very good centre mid to replace Cabs, a good winger and a centre back…all in good time

I would like us to bring some Premier League experience in. I feel the balance is somewhat off in and around our current squad.

At the club at the moment we are very short in this department I feel.

Squad members in and around the first team pool with little to no PL experience:

    Debuchy
    Haidara
    M’Biwa
    Sissoko
    Gouffran
    Bigiramana
    Campbell
Ferguson – Likely to be loaned
Sammy Ameobi – Likely to be loaned

    Experienced settled players available:

    S Taylor
    Williamson – May move on.
    Coloccini
    Cabaye
    Ben Arfa
    Jonas
    Santon
    Cisse
Shola – Likely to move on
Anita (1 year, bit part player.)

I’d love to see 2-3 more experienced players from this league brought in that speak English. Just to balance it out a bit and give us that experience in depth if and when injuries occur.

  • 71 PMartel // Jul 2, 2013 at 10:37 PM
