75% Of Fans Want Him But Newcastle Pass Up Chance To Sign Remy

The Evening Chronicle is reporting today that Newcastle will turn down an offer to sign QPR striker Loic Remy.

Loic Remy – Newcastle pass up chance to sign striker

Newcastle have missed out on number one striker target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Borussia Dortmund yesterday, and that’s the third transfer window running that we’ve missed out on our top striker target.

Not good.

Apparently Newcastle are looking at what is described as younger, hungrier players – but are they as good and as experienced as Remy?

In our poll a majority of Newcastle fan – three in four – want Remy at Newcastle for just £8M, and the Chronicle is reporting the  release clause in his QPR contract at just £6.8M.

Should Newcastle Try To Sign Loic Remy For £8M This Summer?

And it seems that Newcastle are also not keen on either Wigan’s 29 year-old Arouna Kone, or Lyon’s 27 year-old Bafetimbi Gomis, both of whom Newcastle were linked with yesterday.

Newcastle are said to be assessing their options, after Aubameyang signed for Borussia Dortmund, and while the St. Etienne striker was hungry enough he was too expensive for Newcastle, which seems to be the case with a lot of our targets these days.

Remy was accused of rape in mid-May,  and that’s another dampener on his record, as well as the Frenchman having turned Newcastle down in January.

But we would have still liked Newcastle to have signed him – but if the Chronicle report is true – that will not happen.

    good.

Don’t want to sign a player until we know if he will be charged or not. Too much of a gamble when we only spend on the odd player.

We need to sign some top quality, just to show our current squad we mean business, if we dont this year is going to be a struggle. Hopefully Pardew will be sacked by October.

    PARDEW OUT.

PEA was back up plan when we didn’t get Remy in Jan now we pass up Remy, for cheaper than we originally wanted him for and with PL experience, because we want a younger hungrier striker after only yesterday agreeing a fee for a 29 year old…

I agree we will struggle without signings.

We create very few chances for the forward therefore we need a player in the mold of suarez who can create his own as well as score the tap ins.

This team is not as good as people think, its very technical but that’s only one side…they cant often turn the technical stuff into good performances.

Well. We were supposed to be signing someone by the end of this week so we should be hearing the first set of excuses. This time they will be smokin’ jokes excuses as he was the one who said it.

I disappointed in the board urgency to bring PEA to the toon. He was clearly our #1 target and losing #1target for the third time speaks very badly of the board. We have a decent defense and midfield if no one else leaves but we desperately needed PEA upfront. Teams like Norwich, Swansea, Southampton are showing more desire to get their targets. Losing remy to QPR I believe was the difference between us struggling to fight relegation and top 10 finish. I believe losing PEA will hurt us more than Remy. All i’m asking is a left winger and a striker up front with cisse. Ince will be nice or wijnadulm. We really need to bounce back from last season.

Why don’t we just sign Roque Santa Cruz and be done with it?

    Transfer
I can see the team that started against ManCity the same as started against Arsenal on the final day of the season except for Harper.
    37 Harper
    02 Coloccini
    13 Yanga-M’Biwa (Campbell – 80′ )
    26 Debuchy
    27 S Taylor
    04 Cabaye (Anita – 57′ )
    10 Ben Arfa
    18 Gutierrez
    24 Tiote
    09 Cisse
    11 Gouffran (Marveaux – 64′ )

Not a bad team on paper – BUT ON THE FOOTBALL PITCH

So when Kinnear said he wants a signing by today surely he didn’t mean that 16 year old?

So we can look forward to Pardew starting with Jonas, Saylor and Tiote no matter what.

Then to be joined by Pardew’s exciting picks: Bent, Tomkins, Spearing , Matt Taylor !!

The ST’s will be doing a roaring trade NOT!!

We still have a good squad but are saddled with a manager who can’t get the best out of them and JFK, a truly shocking state of affairs for a club of our size.

I pray for Pardew to leave or a take over as this is getting beyond sad.

Jeff. The only one of those players who i would use as a prem class winger would be goofy. Santon is a defender not a winger. None of the others are good enough.

exactly….we can talk then up on paper all we like but in reality it’s very different, they haven’t performed consistently as a unit last year.

Even if it’s the managers fault he isn’t leaving so we need to change something.

    Jeff

We have no proper wingers at the club. Jonas can’t cross/score, ben arfa prefers to come inside, gouff is a striker, fergie isn’t good enough, santon is a full back.

We can use ben arfa right side but we desperately need a left sided winger/forward to play there.

We should really try and set up our own football club like the breakaways did from Man United. Get some high profile locals involved…fan controlled club!!

Calm down and stop worrying we will be starting a load of average players that we havent signed or have barely been linked with.

If they come then complain, but until then try to enjoy the summer…it will be awful come city away haha.

    But will we!!!!
Probably not – to many players at the TOON in the comfort zone – know they will get a game every week – thats why we were trawling around the bottom of the league – until oh Sh*t we could get relegated not look good on the CV
    AND
That’s why we need some new blood (good/excellent players in) to put pressure on the players we have got

Anyone saw Spain vs Italy or Uruguay vs Italy?

Desciglio and Maggio are WB or Abate before injured, but they played like wingers. We have Santon & Debuchy who also can play like them.
It really depends on how the team set up.

Why should we give up our club due to a guy owning it for 6 years?

If people feel that strongly against Ashley organise protests and fan groups to stand against him. It’s much easier now to do it with the internet and social media.

Personally I don’t like him but i don’t think he does any harm. We might never get to the top, or near the top with him, but he isn’t doing anything too bad like racking up stupid debts and risking he future of the club.

    santon

it does, we could have them more advanced as wing backs or even play santon as an out and out winger with haidara and debuchy full back…i’d like to see santon tried there.

Wenger said about walcott that after running 50 metres he is tired and does a lazy cross…surely after santon running 80 yeards he will struggle to be fully focused on a good cross.

I think signing Remy would be a massive risk personally. If he can score for fun with QPR in a relegation dogfight then his record speaks for itself. Unfortunately, his record for scoring with the ladies isn’t quite the reputation we want associated with us. From what I’ve read about the rape charge there’s a more than fair chance that he’s innocent, however, the press blackout over the case means there is an awful lot we do not know. The fact that there is an injunction on the information at all speaks volumes too.

Got to wonder how the Barca full backs run those distances and still find a cross or a killer pass, or even a goal. Supreme fitness

Morning Markaccus – actually double glutton for punishment one for me & one for Mrs martoon. It was actually the direct debit mandate that they sent – I had to ring them up and check the seats were together and in the area we wanted – typical Toon expect you to pay before you know what you are getting (a bit like our tranfer policy 🙂 )

This blue print for the club is fast becoming a joke. They no longer seem to have a clear idea of what they are doing and there are too many people in the decision making process. Why do we insist on making things worse for ourselves and transfers take sooo long. We have had months, some players we have been monitoring for years… what is the point ? wasted money on scouting and flights when we miss many of our ‘top’ targets.
We will never be as silly as Liverpool 2 years ago.. but stop stalling over 1 or 2 million, if your chief scout has been watching the player for this long and gives the green light and the manager is happy then just pay it and get them !! Rant over.
    Happy Friday everyone 🙂
