Big Day For Newcastle And Alan Pardew

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew went through a very tough season for Newcastle last term (didn’t we all), and although Newcastle did well in Europe and reached the last eight of the competition before being eliminated by losing finalists Benfica, we struggled in the league, and just managed to avoid relegation.

Alan Pardew – first training session today

That was the last thing fans expected from a Newcastle side who had looked so good the season before, and towards the end of  last season fans called for Alan Pardew to be sacked.

But some of that may have changed in mid-June, when a certain Joe Kinnear came back to Newcastle as the new Director of Football, and the PR disaster he created took all the news headlines, and it wasn’t good for Joe or – more importantly – it was certainly not good for Newcastle United.

Alan Pardew has held a diplomatic silence throughout the turmoil, and maintained his dignity through all the bad news that Kinnear has managed to generate over the last three weeks or so, and it could be that fans may be a little more forgiving of the manager, whose job it is to take Newcastle back up the league next season.

We hope to hear from Alan today, when he takes his first training session with the squad, and we expect Alan to be upbeat and side-step too many questions about Joe Kinnear and his new position.

Some fans think Pardew could even leave the club before the season starts,  but we hope not, that would be too much like what happen abck in 2008.

And Pardew has proved himself to be a good manager in his first full season on Tyneside,  and as Alan Shearer has said – he didn’t become a bad manager in just one season.

And Alan Pardew and Newcastle can do well again this coming season, when Newcastle must again challenge for a top six or top eight position.

And  Pardew and his coaching staff have already shown they have the ability to help Newcastle do just that.

We need a good start to the seoasn, and then we could be flying high again – we hope we will be flying high again.
