Breakthrough Season For These Two Newcastle Teenagers?

There’s no doubt that two of Newcastle top youngsters at the moment are 19 year-old Gael Bigirimana and 18 year-old local lad Adam Campbell.

gael bigirimana I did it Wigan

Gael Bigirimana – after scoring great goal against Wigan

Gael was signed from Coventry a year ago for £1M, and he made an impressive 25 appearances for Newcastle last season with one terrific goal against Wigan.

And Adam Campbell became the youngest player to ever play in Europe for Newcastle, when he came on as a sub at Atromitos last August, and Alan Pardew had him on the bench for the last few games of  the season, and he made 5 appearances for the side in total last season.

One reason James Perch was sold earlier this week to Wigan was because Gael can play very well in defensive midfield, and the England U20 International will be pushing for a starting place next season, as he continues to learn the ropes quickly on Tyneside.

Adam Campbell – small in stature but could become big player

And Adam Campbell was impressive in training last season, and certainly manager Alan Pardew has high hopes for the North Shields born teenager, and Adam should get a lot more first team appearances next season.

With his quickness, skill and eye for goal, Campbell will give Newcastle another option up front next season, and that’s what we need, as we found it difficult to score goals last season, after Demba Ba had left in January.

Here’s Bigi’s great goal against Wigan at St. James’ Park last season, just to remind us of how good this lad can become.

If Newcastle are to do well next season, then we’ll need to see both teenagers coming though big time on Tyneside.

What do you think?

Despite the train wreck which is JFK and the incompetence and stubborness of Pardew, Carr has assembled quite an amazing team really.

We actually don’t need that many players to come in other than a striker.

    Krul

    Debs
    Colo
    M’Biwa
    Santon / Haidara

    Sissoko
    Anita / Tiote / Bigi

    Cabs

    Benny / Marveaux
    Cisse / Campbell
    Remy??? / Goofy

Tooarmydownsouth – Good job your opinion doesn’t matter then! He played for Hull, was very young and not ready for premier league football. He’s actually pretty quick and has improved immensely since then. I’d take him, he’s quick enough, powerful, direct and causes a hefty nuisance to defenders and can finish.

Rotunda – Carr has assembled quite an amazing team. I take you mean Carr and nobody else?

So, Ashley who forked out the money and set the policy of buying young players near the end of their contracts for buttons, Llambias who negotiated the contracts and Pardew who sold the club to the players had nowt to do with the signings?

If you believe it is all down to Carr and Carr alone it just shows how biased your opinion is against Ashley and Pardew. They get blamed for everything and get credit for nothing.

I think Bigi has what it takes to go on and have a very good career at the top level. Campbell hopefully to but like most I’ve not seen much of him.

For me the big season rule applies to most of the squad, but in terms of the younger players its Vuckic I feel needs to stay injury free and turn that word potential into the real deal. I’d personally get him watching videos of Lampard as I think he’s got similar attributes (no pressure then).

Rotunda – as for the great squad assembled by Carr. … Apart from Tiote not one of them has a physical presence and not one of them is a leader on the pitch. Good players, but imo the squad is distinvtly unbalanced for the rigours of the Prem.

Imo that is one of the reasons Kinnear has been brought in. Pardew wants some backbone in the squad but Carr apparently continues to recommend players who may be skilful but just add to the powderpuff part of the squad. Anita and Amaltifino are classic examples.

If Kinnear sorts this out he will have earned his money and proven his worth.

    The wait continues…

If we were instructed with top coaching methods we could really see who fits where and what is needed, as I don’t think we’re anywhere near the ability collectively as those players should be playing.

It is simple footballing principles interlinking between players and involving lots of calculated movement. Movement which is of a positive nature.

We don’t see it. Game upon game I see the same things. Stationary players reacting to what has already happened, not anticipating their teammates’ actions.

That should be drilled into those players every day. If they’re not doing it, you continue showing them until they’re performing it confidently and effectively.

How can we work on ball retention when Pardew is practicing the panic defending which we see week in week out? If you’re not developing this during the week, you have no hope on game day.

The same disjointedness was there when we finished fifth, so this isn’t something which has just happened last year. It was more of the same, just without the points.

Whatever is happening in training, matchday is showing something is massively wrong with our coaching.

    5 players. Hmmm.

IMO we need in priority order:

    1. Striker
    2. Winger
    3. Goalscoring ACM (backup striker)
    4. RB cover
    5. Gk cover

    Anyone agree or disagree?

It seems they are going to let the kids have a chance, imo a good thing. As if the ydont they might as well just get rid.Perch was a squad player so shouldnt bigi do some of what he used to do or others step in?
As for the club saying nothing especially AP i think its the right thing to do.We might not like it but we need the media to leave us alone imo.

As for JK i hope he keeps sprouting the drivel he usually spouts. It means the attention isnt on the team, maybe for the first time in decades we can have a pre season where they can actually focus on getting the team sorted.Even if that means with who we have.

i think it’s looking quite obvious that MA & co don’t wan’t to bring in players, we’ve heard nothing from no body except from JFK and we all know how much BS comes out of his mouth, look at it this way and lets few the squad……

    GK – Krull, Elliot, Alnwick
    RB – R.Taylor ( injured ) Debuchy
    LB – Santon, Haidara
CB – Colo, S.Taylor, Willo, MYM
CM – Cabaye, Tiote, Anita, Bigi, Gosling, Sissoko
Wings – HBA, Marv, Obertan, Jonas, Sammy, Fergy
AMC – Cabaye, Sissoko, HBA, Marv, Vuckic
STK – Cisse, Shola, Campbell, Goofy

MA will see this team and think he will only need a RB considering Raylor is out all this season.
