There’s no doubt that two of Newcastle top youngsters at the moment are 19 year-old Gael Bigirimana and 18 year-old local lad Adam Campbell.
Gael Bigirimana – after scoring great goal against Wigan
Gael was signed from Coventry a year ago for £1M, and he made an impressive 25 appearances for Newcastle last season with one terrific goal against Wigan.
And Adam Campbell became the youngest player to ever play in Europe for Newcastle, when he came on as a sub at Atromitos last August, and Alan Pardew had him on the bench for the last few games of the season, and he made 5 appearances for the side in total last season.
One reason James Perch was sold earlier this week to Wigan was because Gael can play very well in defensive midfield, and the England U20 International will be pushing for a starting place next season, as he continues to learn the ropes quickly on Tyneside.
Adam Campbell – small in stature but could become big player
And Adam Campbell was impressive in training last season, and certainly manager Alan Pardew has high hopes for the North Shields born teenager, and Adam should get a lot more first team appearances next season.
With his quickness, skill and eye for goal, Campbell will give Newcastle another option up front next season, and that’s what we need, as we found it difficult to score goals last season, after Demba Ba had left in January.
Here’s Bigi’s great goal against Wigan at St. James’ Park last season, just to remind us of how good this lad can become.
If Newcastle are to do well next season, then we’ll need to see both teenagers coming though big time on Tyneside.

Comment #122Don’t worry, I’ve contacted Ed about Jayk, simply because it’s a breach of Ed’s blog rules, isn’t the forum for such bile, is distracting posters and detracting from the blog.

Have you finished? Could you be anymore condescending? Insulting? Haha.
3 players out of a squad that’s already small in stature. 3 reliable players. Not world beaters, but decent.
Apparantly, we have a list of targets and only one bid has been submitted that we are aware of, only for it to be pulled out again.
I believe we will sign players, but every passing day is a lost day on the training ground and if that dosn’t concern you then it should.
Every passing day at the moment suggests that we really have no plan at all and Carr’s list is gathering dust.
Love your optimism though.

JFK is in Tenerife on Holiday, it’s not press “garbage” – There’s a lad on twitter who’s in same hotel as him.

the three players that have left may not have been world beaters but they need replacing, our squad as very little depth as it is. I have no problem with people leaving as long as they are replaced but Ashley has a habit of waiting six months before they are replaced

Of course I don’t think Carr purchased the players, but players were bought on his recommendation.

Comment #128This is all becoming pointless. Regardless of who we sign we’ll be midtable at best. Poor manager, poor owner, poor coaching, poor academy. So the way I see it, if we reconcile ourselves to this, anything we achieve will be a pleasant surprise.
I don’t expect any decent signings so I won’t be disappointed if we don’t make any.
I don’t expect good football so I won’t be disappointed when we don’t play good football.
A truly apathetic approach is the name of the game until Ashley sells up.
Anything better than mediocrity should be seen as a bonus.

And one other thing. Just because something is printed in a newspaper, does not mean it’s rubbish.
The trick is to read betweeen the lines and be able to work out what is real and what isn’t.
In this case, and to be fair, Joe is lying pool-side sipping on a cocktail trying to suss how to work an I-phone 5. He has alot of contacts to enter 😉

I think we spend to survive and retain our place in the cash cow that is the Premier League, that is our ambition. Dreams of one day challenging for a place in the Champions League should be put to bed and forgotten about. If we could offer Ashley mid table this coming season and every season after that he’d snap our hands off.
Our ambition is to survive and success is seen in the form of cashing in on the TV revenue deal

Comment #131Hopefully, once MA can prove the ‘business’ is stable and profitable for a couple of seasons running, it’ll attract more prospective buyers, maybe that’s what he has in mind – a case of just sit tight and roll with the punches, because nothing drastic is going to happen in terms of fan upheaval. : |

Pardew will tow the party line as always knowing that he could have easily been sacked in May, the guy knows that this is the biggest job he’s ever had and ever likely to have and he’s not gonna rock the boat

Can’t help but think..
Wouldn’t it be mint if he could say what he really thinks and feels, instead of the soap opera which we are spoon fed.
Look forward to hearing it. Im intrigued to see if he welcomes Joe to the club and will enjoy working along side him.

Comment #141Again I am sorry but not every team has bought all their players for the new season. Some wait until deadline day!
Yes pre season is important but we bought 5 players in January and we have lost 4 since then! According to my mathematics we are +1 compared to last season, have a better squad for (minus Ba as he needs replaced which before window I believe he will) AND we have had more than just 1 pre season to gel these 5 players into the team, plus a pre season ….. That means we are better off than last year with +1 first team player, more experience for a younger fringe players I.e Campbell, Bigi, Vuckic, Sammy and we aren’t in EL!
Ok am the one that is being stupid though!
Perch Simpson Ba and Harper!
Ba is the only starter, Simpson is replaced with Debuchy/Haidara (as stated Santon swapping sides) and Perch is replaced with Sissoko, Mbiwa.
Ba is really the only non replaced member.
Goalkeepers as far as my understanding goes is the coach stated the young Alnwick is good enough now and will be a suitable back up behind Elliot and Krul.
So am I still crazy to think we are better off this year and than last with still a whole pre season and transfer window to go?
Oh and JK twitter reports LOL please if that’s evidence get the guy to post pictures or an interview! I know I would have photos to prove it all, and I would be selling them to the sun not posting on twitter!
Oh wait no he’s in Africa that’s right, so bottom line is no one knows for sure just reading or believing the tripe you are told! Typical!
Would love for him to Monday to Tuesday come out and talk to the public lol ….. What would be the excuse the holiday is 2 days long, or he came back early!
Do you really think he is on holiday at This time
Or perhaps consider if he is the job he is doing can be delegated or MA step in as the plans are in place? This is a football club not a second hand shoe shop! Some people like stirring the pot, but all you are doing is upsetting yourself in process.
Likelyhood is we will sign 2-3 players before the window ends and its standard! Means we have more players than last year (we already do unless we sell more), a more competitive squad (better players now compared to last year and youngsters have more experience), and less matches no travelling to Greece early doors, allows us to take it easy!
Time will tell but am confident on top 10. No evidence to think otherwise.
Anyone talking to me about bad position last year well look at the year before that and the year following on any given season that can happen what’s to say we won’t finish 7th this year and 15th the following year!
Injuries played a part last year, that much is apparent! You didn’t see other teams have the entire starting 11 out at somepoint during December, in 1 month alone all 11 players missed 1 game! That is a problem! Sorry but that plays a big part to why we finished were we did, our team and bench were full of youngsters with no PL experience. We even called Dummett back from loan it was that bad!
People relax take it easy! Its less than 8 days into the window and everyone is having breakdowns! Lol

Comment #143ok i wouldnt exactly say people where panicking ,the point is the club has known since january that we needed to replace ba and they knew about ba s contract and it was inevitable someone was gonna evoke his contract clause ,they stated in january we missed out on remy due to playing hard ball and a wee bit ott in trying to save money ,to me it looks like they have not learned from andy carroll again we sold him for 35 million and again we waited nearly 6 months for his replacement a free transfer ba ,we have since made 7 million on top of that and we still havent bought a striker for any decent money, granted we signed cisse but even when carroll was at the club we stated we where looking for a partner for carroll so what goes on .
