Some of the headlines of articles over the last several weeks have been that Alan Pardew’s silence has been deafening to Newcastle fans, and that’s been very true.
Alan Pardew – we hope he’s smiling today
Ever since Joe Kinnear was shockingly appointed the Director of Football (what was Mike Ashley thinking?), then Alan has probably done the right thing, and held a (long) diplomatic silence.
And it’s what Joe Kinnear should have done, but Joe being Joe, has shot his mouth off again, so to speak, and caused all kinds of trouble.
And it’s been as bad as the 53 F words he used in his first press conference as Newcastle’s interim manager in September, 2008, when he let fly at the Daily Mirror’s Simon Bird for some things Simon had written about Joe.
But Alan Pardew is now back in Newcastle and taking his first training session at Benton today, and news is that he has already given an interview to nufcTV, and we’re hoping that interview will be published today.
Newcastle players in training today – Alan’s on the right
And like a lot of important interviews, and this one is important, we hope the club will release the video so all fans can see it, and not only those who have a nufcTV subscription.
But we don’t expect Alan Pardew to be anything like Joe Kinnear, and he’ll say all the right things – but that’s what he should be doing to try to calm things down on Tyneside, after Kinnear managed in a twinkling of an eye to upset almost every single Newcastle fan with that outrageous talkSPORT interview.
Nobody can ever accuse Joe of being a diplomat, which is uusally needed in the executive ranks, but rather he’s his very own fan club. 😀
And I’ve had a few notes from some readers saying in truth we’re not really too bad off this summer, and that’s right, and we have to remember we brought in five top Frenchmen in January, and we’ve yet to see the best of them.
But my concern now is with Joe Kinnear – and he’s a loose cannon if ever there was one – and that’s the concern many fans have about the coming season – what damage will Joe Kinnear do?
What do you think?

There’s no comparison between Laudrup and Pardew, I would say that 99.9% of fans would want Laudrup over Pardew

Hmmm I’m sorry did I mention the teams in the top 6 errrrrr no
Oh and arsenal have made a signing
And west ham have made 4 or 5 and have had a bid accepted on another CF today
Norwich are active the scum are Swansea are Cardiff are stoke are hull are
Do they have better squads? No but your missing the major point which looking at your posts you have done for a few weeks, it’s not solely about money it’s about showing some fcuking ambition man!
Top 10! Ffs man fat Ashley was harping on about bring regulars on the European scene!
Your obviously comfortable with his lack of ambition as you seem more than happy to go along with whatever’s he’s lowered the targets for the season to

Laudraup pretty much demanded the signings or he will leave!
Who is to say Bony will do well? Remember Alves at Boro he was knocking them in playing in the Dutch league. Where is he now?
We will see of course, like any signing.
But ask yourself if Bony is SOOO good or RVW why oh why did the bigger boys in Europe pursue them? Or why did they settle for Swansea and Norwich? ……
Remy only went to QPR because of injuries and money! PEA went to Dortmund CL finalists!
Why does RVW such an amazing player end up at NORWICH, I can maybe accept Swansea this season being in EL, Michael Laudrup legend he is.
Yet people are going insane. If we get Remy or De Jong or lord behold both we would have not only spent 20m in Jan, which could easily have been more for what grade players we bought and had time to adapt now, we would have arguably spent 15-18m on them! That’s 40m nearly in 8 month!! So chill out!

Making what up exactly?
It’s been confirmed by other clubs on numerous occasions we have bid well below the asking price, we’ve then signed them a window later for the sake of a couple of mil
It’s also confirmed by dekka we’d rather wait until there contracts expire unless needs must
So which bit was I making up?
How come every other team can conduct themselves and get business done and we end up looking chumps?

Comment #48Pawl250 – Arsenal have already signed Sanogo and are about to sign Higuain for around £25mill.
Everton are giving a medical to Kone at the moment.
I too agree with selling some dead weight but sell it all without any replacements is just too stupid for words.
The sale of Perch for example was totally unnecessary but don’t worry we are waiting for Vuckic to come back for his usual 6 week season. God help us.

My understanding is that Newcastle had agreed with Remy and his club but allowed him to go to London before going on to the North East. What the club didn’t expect was for QPR to step in holding and bribe him away.
I suspect the club has a list of players who they would like and like you was surprised that they didn’t initiate Plan B. We may never know.
I think the club were (over?) confident of getting Aubameyang but when the runners up in the Champions League Final came knocking we couldn’t compete. I doubt money had anything to do with it. It was a successful club verses a club without any success.

Comment #51TDS we cannot match and never will match
Man City
Man Utd
Chelsea
Liverpool
Tottenham
Arsenal
That’s top 6
They all have more money, European football!
Its called being realistic we will finish 7th – 10th this season, I believe it.
And that is as high as we can do unless the top 6 teams have a bad season like they did when we finished 5th …..
If you think we can be higher we will need to spend 50m plus …. And sorry but it would not help the club at all! It needs to happen progressively over years and years!
Not 3-4 seasons! We need to do an Arsenal but Cabs for 4m sell for 20m, buy 2 decent players sell, buy 3-4 players until you have a decent blend of not just good players but a self sustained club also!
Your way we will be in debt and not be allowed to play in Europe!

RVW and Boney are both players that would greatly improve our squad, but why did they end up at Norwich and Swansea???
Simply because both those clubs have and show ambition.
Why would we sign Remy when he has to report back in September on allegations of rape? He could have all charges dropped or he could be charged and sentenced so why would we talk to a player who could end up in jail???
If you are happy with mid table football then fine, I have no issue with you for accepting that, but I want more from my club and the billionaire owner we have, if he has no ambition for us other than to simply survive then I cannot and will not stand behind him and the pathetic way he is running our club.
Pardew’s 8 year contract and the appointment of Kinnear are not what I want from the club

Comment #60Can’t recall Swansea paying 28m last season.
Anita 6m
Bigi 2m
Haidara 2m
Sissoko 3m
Mbiwa 7m
Gouffran 2m
Debuchy 6m
We sold
Ba 3.5m (3.5 went to Ba)
Foster 2m
Best 4m
So net spend of roughly 18m!
Then we have sold Perch 17m!
Name a team that has spent 17m below the top 6 last season?
We have no ambition though …..
Andy Carroll 15m is the only major signing, and West Ham probably won’t spend much more, unless selling.
Norwich 7m RVW, and Redmond was it 4-5m they won’t be doing much more business unless selling.
Swansea EL, they sold Graham for 5m, buying bony for 12m is merely a replacement if it comes off! 5m on Shelvey is a massive buy! He probably won’t even play.

Yes they were as they were targeted for the summer and not January, the club panicked at our position, that they created insistently, and pushed them through early, hence they panicked at us being relegated. I’m not saying that the players were not scouted or even planned signings the timing of the signing was a panic reaction from the club.
So no ‘doom mongering is all your doing’ as you put it

The ONLY reason we finished 5th was because Chelsea and Liverpool had an off season!
Its rare, only need to look at the past end tables but if Chelsea played to the standard they have and are then we would have 6th, possibly 7th if Liverpool werent playing under King Kenny.
That’s as good as we can do when other teams play normal. Its the truth accept it we are not a “big” club we are a PL club, we a big following but in respect to the fans we are a bigger club than most PL teams. We just cannot cope with the bigger PL teams in the top 6!
Difference between 16th and 8th last seasons was 6-7? Points if I remember correctly!
Yet we are way behind! ….. Considering our injuries, that’s not too bad!

Comment #72We have a good squad, I think 3-4 points would have had us in top 10 last season! To think solving the injuries issues we could not get 3-4 more points this season compared to last seasons total is not unrealistic or deluded.
I said 12th last season, that was less than 3 points from being achieved I was laughed at from our ‘deluded’ fans saying CL!
Saying top 10, or more accurate 7th to 10th is acheivable!

Comment #73Anyone who would take Pardew over Laudrup seriously need their bumps felt.
Pardew’s one fluke season in god knows how many can’t overshadow an otherwise extremely mediocre and average overall record where Pardew has very rarely hit the heights.
Laudrup is on the up, plays great football and is a genuinely good guy and was talked in terms of Real Madrid one day. Can’t see Pardew getting a call from the Bernabeu any time soon.

Comment #74Laudrup has only had one season in the premiership and has already done something Pardew hasn’t in 15 years actually win a proper cup.
Yes Laudrup may get found out next season like Pardew was again this season finishing in 16th place. One thing is for sure this squad under Laudrup would be a hell of a better watch than under a man who spends 4 days out of 5 solely on defense training and still conceded 68 goals.

Comment #76I would take Laudrup over Pardew!
But its important to remember the play style of Swansea is NOT Laudrups doing!
It is Martinez, followed by Rogers who both made Swansea play the way they do. He merely inherited it, added Michu, excellent buy and managed to score more goals.
As soon as people were aware of Michu Swansea lost and drew more games, note the second half of the season! They were poor in comparison.
I personally feel they won’t last long in EL, we will see and it will as always effect them in the PL.
Accept it, unless you have a massive squad I.e Manchester/Chelsea like, you will not be able to compete without performance dropping in one or the other!
We will see! But I hope we sign a striker and a creative midfielder, then replace any future leavers with better players.

Comment #77For what it’s worth tads mate I totally agree with you in your argument with pawl. We are showing the same lack of ambition we showed last summer. And what did that get us? It got us 16th place as I recall. I think it is total chaos at Newcastle right now. Kinnear doesn’t have a clue as to what to do. He doesn’t know the European players well enough yet he wants to show Carr who the real boss is. Let’s see how that works out.

Comment #80I understand some of paw1250’s arguments tads. They are appearing on many blogs. They seem like the last desperate arguments of those who don’t realize what a disaster Kinnear’s hiring is and will continue to be. We are a laughingstock again now around the league for a good reason. The man is either going senile or his ego is even bigger than Ashley’s (hard to believe I know).
