This Young Dutch Striker Could Be Interesting Newcastle

11:24 am, Sunday, July 7th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 151 Comments

It seems that Newcastle will be looking to bring in two new strikers this summer, and if we can get somebody like Loic Remy through the door, then maybe Newcastle can bring in a young striker with good potential.

Jorgen Locadia – 19 year-old budding PSV striker

And one young player who had a good season last term was PSV’s 19 year-old striker Jurgen Locadia, who scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for the Dutch side, and played alongside 24 year-old Tim Matavž, who we profiled last night.

Jurgen began his career in 2001 when he joined VV Bargeres at just seven years old, and he then he played at FC Emmen, RKSV Sarto and Willem II before joining PSV in 2010.

Locadia made his debut in September of 2011 for PSV, when he came on as a sub in a KNVB Cup match against VVSB, and just a short eight minutes after coming on he scored his first goal for the PSV club.

But in that season he made only two appearances with that one goal for PSV

Jurgen was born in Emmen in the Netherlands, and he’s played for all the Dutch Youth sides from U17 through U21, but only once so far for the U21 side, so he is still developing at just 19 years old.

He turns 20 until November, and it could be a good time for Newcastle to consider the 6’3″ striker, and at the moment he would come at a decent price.

We have been told that Graham Carr has been scouting players in the Eredivisie last season, so we wonder if this lad has caught Graham’s attention?

Comments welcome.

As nothing football to discuss how about making a film at the Toon, I will start with a few, one flew the cuckoo’s nest, Jurassic park 4 return of Joe, and a remake of the Disney film one of our dinosaurs is missing. DR Jekll & MR Kinnear.

Wolfshead – I mentioned that last week. He will never get sent-down – the female in question will simply obtain a nice white envelope with some crisp notes inside to make the case go away

  • 11 chuck // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:08 PM

Ed. enough with the scouting, thats why we have a guy like Carr!

Dan gosling gone, shame injury prevented him becoming a top player when he just got going

  • 14 DevonToon // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:23 PM

T.D it is a shame i was exited we signed him at the time, i seen him play a number of times for plymouth and he always looked like he had sumthin about him. Some regular footie will do him wonders

  • 15 Dannyo // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:25 PM

Adios Gosling. Again, never got a chance in my view.

  • 16 Ginger // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:25 PM

Who are we interested in at the minute mate? Any wingers?

I’m glad to see more legit ITK’s popping up these days.

  • 17 WWYCD // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:29 PM

Tbf had he been fully fit, at any point, he may of done but Christ the lad is ruined by injuries. Good luck to him and all that but he’s been little more than a wage drain for us

  • 18 Joe Blog // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:38 PM

    So, let’s take stock -

We’re a club that is breaking even financially.

We’re set to get at least an extra £25m from the bumper tv deal.

We’ve so far made £1.7m profit in trading this window and reduced the wage bill by an estimated £60k pw.

Hmm so that means there’s no money in the transfer kitty!!!

  • 20 santonthenewmaldini // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:44 PM

Goodbye Gosling shame it never worked out for you I hope the Toon have some sort of sell on fee included because it would just be our luck that he turns into a decent player who stays injury free!!!

As for this 19 year old striker SIGN HIM UP we have to sign players younger now to compete because we have waited to long for targets and then they become real players we could have signed PEA last year but did not and then it was too late

Just hope Pardew has looked over last season and realizes that he can no longer play defensive football if he gets us to play attacking football then thats about 60% of the problem cleared up and if he has no Shola, Perch and Gosling to call on by the start of the season thats the other 40% gone as he would need to actually give the youngsters a proper go in the team !

Last season when the youngsters got a chance we were playing shite longball football which does not suit them and the senior players let the youngsters down as well for example SHola getting sent off against Brighton thats setting an example !!!

  • 21 Ginger // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:48 PM

    Joe Blog

You forgot the approx. 10m from Wonga and 5m into the Youth Squad.

  • 22 Jail for Ashley // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:51 PM

My lasting memory of Dan Goosling will be that ridiculous handball against Everton which would have cost us the game and that needless sending off against Norwich which didn’t cost us the game but definitely ruled out the possibility of an unlikely point.

  • 23 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:54 PM

newcastle need a top top striker every team needs one you have to have a player in the team who instills confidence in the people who are playing behind them we missed that when ba left we always new when he played we stood a chance of at least a goal the same with shearer the same with carroll ,i think we should a signed abel hernandez he is a great player and pablo sabia another top young player ,both these are available ,abel hanandez s club just been relagated he is available at probs 4 million

  • 24 Jail for Ashley // Jul 7, 2013 at 12:56 PM

Shouldn’t you be in the airport or is it to warm for your anorak !

  • 25 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:01 PM

I hope we give Bigi an improved contract at some point.
The lad is clearly a hot prospect with the potential to be better then Tiote when he is actually playing football and not running around like a headless chicken.

  • 26 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:02 PM

Bigi is one of our few success stories of last season. What a find.

  • 27 blew // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:06 PM

Where would signing a 19 years old striker leave the talented 18 years old Campbell? Similar age, are we saying Campbell is not as good as made out to be?

  • 28 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:09 PM

em less of the cheek a was just keep spouting these two names coz there brilliant ttalented players who would be perfect for us and am just hoping they get looked at because it would be stupid not o ,they for me are best cheapest options for us probs pick both up for under 10 million ,they have had no one linked to them but sunderland ,i just hope we dont regret not getting these two in

  • 29 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:11 PM

pablo sabia is the new mendieta an awsome talent may take him time to adjust as is quite light weight but will one day be worth 40 million imo

  • 30 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:13 PM

I guess it wouldn’t hurt if we have the pair of them develop an understanding relationship by playing alongside each other from a young age.

In the long run that would be very beneficial, having two strikers that qualify under the homegrown rule who have a history of playing with each other. Would make the potential progression to first choice strikers that much easier.

  • 31 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:14 PM

    pablo sarabia sorry

  • 32 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:14 PM

Shouldn’t Campbell be out on loan next season anyway and if we sign a 19 year old Dutch forward you could leave him be in the Dutch league for one more season to develope?

Eventually we gonna need more than one forward and what if Campbell doesn’t make it (it is not like it haven’t happened before is it ;-) )

  • 33 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:15 PM

    Bonjour messieurs.

  • 34 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:16 PM

he is rotting on getafe bench

  • 35 bollance // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:17 PM

JK brought in to sell players and he is doing ok to date. He is the man with (self confessed) connections in the game. If he gets more youngsters out on loan next season then he justifies his employment for me.

We have done well to date attracting players with the former set up, that has not been the problem, we need to turn over players to improve the squad. Still some deadwood to shift.

Don’t expect players coming in for a while. We need to shift all players on 1 year left on contract, assess squad and wait for injuries to strike in pre-season. Plus PSG / Monaco threaten to going big for one or two of our players.

But, we desperately need a striker or two especially if we can offload Shola.

Big problems last season, ball retention, balls into box, off form / uninterested players and lack of goals.

Solution – sell inept wingers, we know who they are..
Buy workman wingers who can also whip a ball into the box. It is going to cost but will be worth every penny when we lock down defence and threat going forward.
Also play with 2 up front to give the winger a chance of finding a player.

We need more goals from midfield. Names for hardworking, goal scoring wingers?

De Jong would be a good example of attacking mid who would chip in with goals. Any others??

  • 36 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:17 PM

    milner would be perfect

  • 38 Rotonda heights // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:19 PM

I wonder if the sales of Perch and Gosling and hopefully a bit more of the dead wood is a deliberate tactic to force Pardew to have no option but to play the likes of Anita etc.

Pardew should take note of this too.

Winskill said: “Every coach has to be open minded. The game evolves and you have to go along with it. If you get stuck in your ways then you’ll be dead in the water.

“There were so many things that opened up my mind in terms of how to deal with people, new ways to work, new training regimes. You have to embrace them because the game is changing at a rate of knots.”

  • 39 mikeashleyisamackem // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:22 PM

we should go get milner jack rodwell jolean lescott and abel hanandez and pablo sarabia for me would cost a bomb say 40 million for all them but we wouldnt need to spend for a couple a years also grant hanley from blackburn

  • 40 Rotonda heights // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:22 PM

    Santon / Haidara

    Remy? / Marveaux

    Not too shabby

chairmen dont sell players so the manager cant pick them thats what they sack managers for when they lose faith, personally am happy enough with pardew the players seem to like him

  • 42 Stevenage Magpie // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:27 PM

TOONDANNO: when can we expect a signing do you think?

  • 43 bollance // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:33 PM

Milner sees himself as a central mid these days but he racks racks up the appearances for Man City so doubt he is thinking to leave.

I remember watching Milner become the youngest Prem goal scorer, a great moment! All game he worked his socks off. It is rare these days to see a younger with such hunger. Out of our youngers the only one who gives his all is Campbell, although the senior games he has played he looks a little shell shocked.

Once he gets used to it and builds his confidence we will see a different player.

There is talent in our youngsters but we might not be the club to bring them through.

Historically we don’t bring too many through looking at history of the Prem even though the county with most prem players since it began is Durham.

There is too much pressure for us to win games so we cant risk bringing players through. Pards wont take any chances at the start of next season but if we start off well then as the season progresses we will see one or two here and there. In my opinion non are knocking on the door so should get out to the Championship til xmas at the earliest!

  • 44 bollance // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:37 PM

Perch sold because his value would only decrease as his contract ran down.

It is a ruthless decision because he would have signed new contract. But he is never going to be a world beater which Bigi, Anita, Tiote or MYM(?) could be playing DM.

    Same tactic, same outcome.

Is there no one in the club whoc are about playing football?

is that why colo, benny and ba all publically stated they didn’t like pardew’s hoof ball tactics

  • 50 mattnufc // Jul 7, 2013 at 1:58 PM

A very good starting eleven but not a very good squad, as seen by last year’s season.

  • 51 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM

I just watched pics of the team resuming training.

Beny is still not fit. Well, at least, he do not seem to have gain weight during the break.

  • 52 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:06 PM

Well, a good squad yes (altough i agreewith mattnufc about the fact we lack of bench).

But to transfrom a good squad into a good team, you got to work about the play, and it seem obvious our play rely only on teh most basicals things.

So, yes, hoofball… And it’s not Kinnear who will change that.

This is why i was very interested by the rumour of an unrest in the dressing room, stange to say, but indeed, Colo and Beny confronting Pard about that are maybe our only hope.

  • 53 yo-yo // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:07 PM

NOBODY knows what was said by Pardew at the team get together and all I’m seeing on here is guys sharpening their prejudices.

  • 54 bills-son // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:11 PM

Rotunda – in reply to your post about my squad opinion…

I was of those on here during our 5th finish season who said we were fortunate to win games that we didn’t dominate. We created few chances in many games but the exceptional conversion rate of Ba and Cisse won us games we could gave drawn or lost. Those strike rates don’t last.

Our weaknesses then were the same as they are now. If we dont get full backs who can defend, a powerful tall CH and pace and power in midfield and attack we will continue to struggle to dominate games imo.

We don’t need to know what was said. We had two full season to watch the way the team play under Pard’s tenure.

    Bills son @ 54

Our weaknesses then were the same as they are now.

This hits ze nail on ze head, and weaknesses must include Pardew, who is only accumulating goodwill by the day because the threat of Mr 19% as manager is simply too dreadful to contemplate.

The same squad as is (no changes, no new blood) would easily finish in top 7 with Mourhino, AVB, Rodgers, Benitez or even Laudrup at the helm. All of which makes the current situation so galling, as it is so unnecessary.

  • 74 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:56 PM

18 km to go and still 40 seconds for Fugeslang and Martin (an irish guy born in Birmingham!).

They could do it, but will be close.

  • 75 bills-son // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:58 PM

Spotlight – all of those managers would also recognise the weaknesses in the squad. I bet Pardew has as well but reading between the lines Carr keeps scouting similar players to what we already have. Kinnear has been brought in to sort the imbalance out.

We dont want more players like Anita and Amaltifino.

  • 76 JackButler // Jul 7, 2013 at 2:58 PM

Heard on radio that 6. Crewe players are subjects of a sexual assault complaint made by a gal in Cornwall. The Crewe players are down there on a training camp and well, …….

What the hell are footballers playing at these days? Who do they think they are and where’s their common sense that should stop them getting themselves into such situations??

    Crazy, crazy crazy!

  • 88 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 7, 2013 at 3:43 PM

Living near London I can tell you now mate it’s easy to see how they get into these situations, Christ if a club knows it has footballers coming it finds the most attractive girls in the place then basically pays them to hang around the VIP area all night
Jesus even closer to where I live is Crawley and when they go out it genuinely seems like the only ambition half these lasses have is to get shagged by a footballer it’s painful to watch them arguing among themselves as to who was first in the VIP line!

  • 89 JackButler // Jul 7, 2013 at 3:46 PM

Top players today are multi millionaires before they reach 21, the have no understanding of the real world and are so detached from it that they think they can do whatever they want, but at the same time because of the money they are easy targets as how many players have ever been charged?

But they still keep putting themselves in a position where they can be accused

I don’t know how often accusations of rape occur but the only reason you think it occurs more often to footballers is because of all the publicity and media that surrounds it. Therefore it seems like it happens alot – you just remember it more readily

No doubt they will now mate, give it two or three years and PEA will be off for twice what they paid for the lad. The way they run that club is close to perfect imo, they do sell all their top players but always replace them with top quality

Tads if that is true its one in the eye for the Ashley bashers.

  • 102 bills-son // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:27 PM

    Come on Murray.

  • 103 lesh // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:28 PM

    toonarmydownsouth, Jack.

You’re both spot on with your posts – the wannabe gals used to make themselves seen at Julies on the Quay in the 70s.

And sure they’d see a footballer as a trophy but it’s the old story, when things get a bit out of hand and go beyond what they’d expected, the complaints arise.

However, and this is your point Jack, some of these guys just see themselves as untouchable gods who can and do get away with most of whatever takes there fancy.

It’d be good if somehow they could be protected from their relative wealth, until they were mature enough to handle it along with their status.

Their are some who can and some who can’t and that I guess, is life.

  • 104 toon kk // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:34 PM

I have a horrible feeling we are in for another hard season with a struggling small squad. I’ve come to the conclusion let the know it all board learn the hard way.

  • 105 lesh // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:39 PM

Who’s this Fugslang you’re on about?

Is he a Finn and are we signing him?

  • 106 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:40 PM

should we really be cheering for murrey?

maybe the press should ask him if he will show support to England next year knowing that lot’s of English will have supported him today.

  • 107 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 7, 2013 at 4:42 PM

  • 116 greg // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:11 PM

    We need Siem De jong
Good header ,long shot , goal from midfield, good partner for Cisse

One from sinclair / hoilett / taarabt / Ince (trained in england) for left wing

Plus one strong, good header defender, improve our goal from corner

  • 117 IITianToon // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:12 PM

well andy murrey has won Wimbledon.
weather we class him as Scottish or british in the end he was born in the united kingdom.

  • 121 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:30 PM

football is probably the only sport which has a total divide with our nations

  • 122 Rotonda heights // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:34 PM

    Bills son

you are always seem to want it both ways.

the players were fine when we finished 5th and pardew stumbled on a 433 when raylor got injured and benny was finally given a game.

last season was totally down to pardew not having a clue how to deal with ba wanting to play centrally. that cost us over half a season while we morphed into different formations sometimes 3 in one game!

Personally I think Ash and Carr have done us proud with the squad we have but we have massively failed in appointing a manager on Llambias’ say so who always gets found out after a good start and simply has no plan B.

  • 123 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:35 PM

Froome is the boss. Well, maybe could Quintana attack him in hte mountain, but anyway, Froome will tear him apart in the time trial.

  • 124 niafron // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:36 PM

    Rugby as well.

  • 125 Rotonda heights // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:37 PM

Carr hasn’t let us down pardew has with his tactics.

  • 131 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:54 PM

    @122 rotunda
that is because bill gives his opinions base on reality what he doesn’t do is base stuff from what happens on his computer games
on a computer game it all comes down to what the person playing it has done because he controls everything.

in the real world pardew’s main job is to pick the players formation and subs. once the game kicks off it is then up to the players what they do for instance ba was poor when cisse first arrived but then out of nowhere he became his former self.
why would any manager tell a player to be offside every match which is how cisse was.
HBA has had bust ups with lot’s of managers already just ask blanch.

  • 132 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:55 PM

did you not see the 3 lions?

  • 133 Indian Magpie // Jul 7, 2013 at 5:58 PM

    Toon king

are you serious, Pardew sets up players, strains all creativity out of them. He is the source of 90% of all problems

  • 134 John Tudor // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:04 PM

    same old same old crap

  • 135 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:05 PM

so are you telling me that pardew tells cisse to stay offside and also saying that he told the opposition to cause the injuries and so he would be happy for tiote to keep getting booked.
so are you saying that you don’t mind Ashley at all and accept how he is running the club.
well can you then now tell people like myself in one long post why it should all lie with pardew because I want proof not these two line posts.

  • 136 Munster Mag // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:05 PM

jaysus TADS you living in Crawley. Used to live in Croydon and went to a few parties down there . Bit rough and characterless. Whereas Croydon was just dull.

  • 137 Munster Mag // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:08 PM

Toonking , why the fluck should Murray support england at anything? I used to get that ALL the time when I lived in England. “Why wont u support us…we will cheer for Ireland” I used to tell people I wouldnt cheer ur lot at tiddlywinks.

  • 138 Indian Magpie // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:12 PM

All i am saying is Pardew is the most to blame along with Ashley

  • 139 GeordieTwo // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:13 PM

I like your thoughts greg @116 although Ince and Hoillett will probably be too expensive. Ince especially seems full of himself probably because of his father at least in part. Taraabt may be too selfish with the ball and too skilled for Pardew’s liking mate.

  • 140 gonufc (not Arf' bad) // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:16 PM

Here we go then, 1 first team signing and a few youngsters just like last year….

  • 141 scout // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:16 PM

People in London think Geordies are Scottish anyway, very similar in many ways I’ve never worked or met anyone from Scotland I didn’t get on with all very likeable people and always a good laugh

  • 142 Ginger // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:17 PM

4-3-3, thank god for that. Cheers for the update. If we’re going to play 4-3-3 though does that mean we wont be getting a striker as they’ll more then likely want to play through the middle and that’s Cisse’s position?

  • 143 scout // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:19 PM

Do you run a polish shop in Crawley, I’ve heard they’re a good earner. I’ve been in the town centre the boozer opposite the bookies, do you know it?

  • 144 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:22 PM

munster unless you are from northern irland you are missing my point.

what country is andy murrey from?
is he from the United Kingdom or is he from Scotland
I live in England or do I live in the UK
England were in the euros and England are of course a team that is part of the UK
celtic and rangers want to drop into the premier league but is that not English?

the difference is that the republic of iraland is not part of the UK
but Scotland is part of the UK

  • 145 TorqToon // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:23 PM

What makes you think we are close to signing remy

  • 147 welshgeordie9 // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:34 PM

Can someone tell me if we have got to wait for Kinnear to come back from his holidays for us to sign someone

  • 148 lesh // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:41 PM

Thanks for the update and you managed to keep your real identity quiet while maintaining your cover as a normal contributor to the blog.

JackButler must have a very ill-informed club source saying that you’re being transferred – your signing hasn’t been announced yet.

Anyway, as you’re one of our Director of Football’s first major signing, you’ll be as safe as him!

By the way, are you famous?

  • 149 toonking // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:41 PM

indian you can’t put masses of blame on them both it has to be aimed at one or the other.

    it works like this
if we aim the blame at pardew then we must have a very good team so then Ashley doesn’t need that many players all he has to do is avoid selling what we have he has did most of the time apart from carroll. with remy last January he probably thought himself it was certain remy was joining.

if you blame Ashley well any manager will not do that well because they will be too concerned on weather or not they should risk a player also ones like ba a manager would do what ever the player wants just so he stands less chance of loosing him.
the way it works is owners and scout give the manager the resources he needs to get a team.
football in general is now a buissess.

  • 150 toonicle // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:44 PM

What about Adam Campbell? Why bring another striker the same age when Adam should be getting all the opportunity to show what he can do this year?

  • 151 lesh // Jul 7, 2013 at 6:46 PM

TorqToon @129, Bet Terry gets his face into the picture though and holding the trophy.

By the way, are we in for Murray, what’s the word?
