Five More Players To Leave Newcastle This Summer

One of the tasks that new Director of Football Joe Kinnear was asked to do when he was first appointed about three weeks ago – it seems much longer than that – was to unload some of the fringe players at Newcastle.

shola ameobi hand on head

Shola Ameobi – likely to leave this summer?

And there at least two reasons for that, one is to help reduce the wage bill, and also to allow some of our top young players to get some games in the first team, like Adam Campbell and Gael Bigirimana as two good examples.

And Joe, who is  in Sardinia on a holiday that was arranged before he came back to Newcastle, has already moved out James Perch to Wigan, and Dan Gosling to Crystal Palace, and there will be others who will be sold this summer.

And we have to remember that Danny Simpson and Steve Harper have already left the club this summer, when their contracts ran out at the end of June, and Danny was picked up by QPR, so that’s four Englishmen who have been moved on already this summer.

The two other Englishmen who could leave this summer are Mike Williamson and Shola Ameobi, and both players found it difficult last season to get  games, especially after the five Frenchmen arrived in January, and Newcastle will want fees for both players.

And 20 year-old Mehdi Abeid has already been told to find a new club, and that’s a big disappointment to us, because just two years ago we had high hopes for the Algerian U23 player, who looked a very good young player when he first arrived on Tyneside.

And last summer’s French recruit Romain Amalfitano,  just couldn’t make a break-through last season and ended up playing for the Newcastle U21 (Reserve) side,  and Romain will probably seek a move back to France this summer.

And Gabby Obertan also didn’t get too many games last season when he was fit, and it’s likely Newcastle will allow the 24 year-old French U21 International to leave the club.

So there’s Shola Ameobi, Mike Williamson, Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano and Gabby Obertan, who are likely to join James Perch, Dan Gosling, Steve Harper and Danny Simpson in leaving the club this summer.

That sounds like a clear-out to us.

And after reading the interview I still don’t know what Joke Kinnear is suppose to be doing!

    …anyone figured it out?

If Shola Ameobi leaves, I’ll find the nearest hat shop and eat all their hats.

Have there been any confirmation from the club that Abeid has been told to find a new club? or is it media speculation?

morning jesper how are you sir.
if that’s what hes come out with already then hes starting in the same mindset as last season-full of bs.
last season he was constantly complaining about the squad size in that we had no depth after the starting 11. and to be truthful I fully agreed with percy on that matter..
getting rid of our fringe players is in all intense purposes a positive move so long as we bring in quality additions to the squad

Patoon…if I were a charity organisation I would be down right angry at a club like Newcastle!

…just imagine how much help the charity money we pay Ameobi every week could do for either education, famine, diseases and so on in a third world country!

If JK and Pards can clear all that waste out of the club and replace most of them with quality if the correct areas I for one will be happy man. But really cannot see it happing judging by what is happening so far.

Just read the article o Taylor a couple of threads back
    What a load of sh1te!!!
Why would he leave? Ummmmmm first team football! The lads is simply not good enough he’s never filled his potential and is has become a massive liability!
And then to say if want a CB they can have willo! Howay ED there’s no difference between them other than willo partners colo better than Taylor

Sorry Taylor but for me you’ve been living on your local tag for to long with out the graft ffs you can’t even keep your self in shape, last season you looked like a stunt double for razor ruddock!

Both him and willo need upgrading

This could be a very exciting window then – surely if we’re clearing so many players out then we’ll be buying a good number of replacements as our squad is already too thin.

However, if we clear all these player out and only sign 2 or 3, this window will be a disaster.

I can only hope that if this article is correct we have several targets lined up.

Lol, i read the blog every day now and hav got 2 the stage now wer i rarely post but i just wish that bloggers would hav patience, JFK has already said that we need 2 strengthin in certain areas of the pitch, we will sign players, ther’s no way we’re gonna sell fringe players and not replace them, we’l just hav 2 wait and c but ther’s new players every time i log on2 the blog, nobody knows who we’re after only JFK, Pardew, Carr, Ashley and maybe a few more high up in the club, think we can b a real force again next season provided Jeff hasn’t got a say in who we sign or wer we play certain players lol

And which quality additions do you think we will be signing then?

We were stretched last year and had to bring in 5 players in one week ! Plus , the 5 players came in when we were in danger of taking the drop with Wigan and QPR !

I am just absolutely dreading the start of the new season, i believe we have Man Shitty away first game?

    God help us !

Getting sick of looking at the news everyday to see that we still haven’t done anything in this window, I’m hoping and assuming that this is part of a plan….. Have a clear out at the beginning of the window and then look at the squad and say right we need to fill these positions…. But that could take a while and I don’t know where we’ll get our pre-season if that’s what we are doing.

Nobody has a clue what we are doing ? Not even i think the people who are supposed to be doing something !

We have Joke Kinnear op Sardinia sunning himself, and Pardew reading th riot act to the players blaming them for last seasons failures !

Compare that, if you will to the Swans who are on tour somewhere in Holland, playing their pre-season against Youth teams and playing friendlies against FC Den Haague and FC Utrecht! Boney trained with them last week-end !

Where was our pre-season? Hmmmmmm ! Good question? eh!

we are getting rid of the “right” players that give nothing to the team but weakness when we have better players in those positions (perch/bigi even though i loved perch imo bigi is better) the only hiccup i see in that list is prob the player i hate the most in williamson as for the 50% of the time he does turn up we really dont have a prem class backup atm (streete/good/tav not ready although maybe tav should be given chance at cb as cover for a few games to see how he does)

cambell has taken shola’s place allready imo so he’s no loss we just need a striker and wingers pls.
