It seems that the Daily Mirror are backing off their story yesterday of saying that Steven Taylor will be offered in part exchange for Loic Remy plus £6M also being paid out by Newcastle.
Steven Taylor – staying at Newcastle
That was always a rather unbelievable proposition from Newcastle, and would never happen, and the Mirror follow-up story today is that Steven Taylor will refuse to join QPR and wants to stay on Tyneside.
Well that’s a big surprise.
The Mirror is reporting “Taylor, 26, wants to extend his contract which has three years to run.”
Taylor is 27 and turns 28 in January, and he is a local lad who made his Newcastle debut at right-back in 2004, when he was 18 and Bobby Robson was managing the Tyneside club.
When this story came out yesterday we just couldn’t believe it, although Alan Pardew did verify yesterday that Loic Remy is indeed a Newcastle target this summer.

Comment #1Story was so ridiculous, they must decide who they link to who buy some sort of bingo ball system.
a) Tayls is clearly prem standard
b) Tayls is worth at least 5 million (plus the rest)
c) remy has a 6-8 mill release clause (so 6 mill + taylor = ??)
d) Pardew has always said he rates Taylor
e) Pardew said only the other day he wants premiership experience in his squad

Comment #2Hope we get rid of Elliot, Williamson and Shola.
We need hungry players like Zoet who will push the first team and not be happy or content sitting on the bench and earning the easy dollars.
Ship out Obertan and Guti too as they are both shite and offer nothing in terms of attacking intent and again sign some hungry young players who want to show their worth.
As for Steven Taylor, well I’d sell him if the right offer comes in because once Mapou is settles Steven Taylor will not come close to the first team.

Comment #6Breaking news coming out of france:
The two clubs have confirmed Newcastle United have successfully negotiated terms with Piere Diddly and Gabrielle Squat!
This should come as great relief to the fans, whom so far had worried about the current transfer market, with a few exceptions who always had faith that the club could bring in Diddly, Squat of the coming weeks.
Keep your chin up lads it might never happen!

For the 2014 WC, so many people are talking Germany, Brazil and Spain as the only contenders… I tell you what though Argentina have the strongest squad I have seen from them in a long time, look at their last starting lineup
GK= Sergio Romero, Sampdoria
LB=Clemente Rodriguez, Sao Paulo
CB=Javier Mascherano, Barcelona
CB=Ezeqiuel Garay, Benfica
RB=Pablo Zabaleta, Man City
CM=Ever Banega, Valencia
CM=Lucas Biglia, Anderlect
RW=Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid
CF=Lionel Messi, Barcalona
LW=Ezequiel Lavezzi, PSG
ST=Kun Aguero, Man City
Plus add in the likes of Coloccini, Montillo, Sosa, Higuain, Palacio & Lamela and you have a really strong side!!
Obviously the three nations will definitely there, but you cannot discount Argentina and Italy as the biggest dark horses.
Any thoughts?

Comment #8@Sydney
Ive never considerd argintina to have a strong team, ive always looked at them as a one man team with messi, But that is an extremely strong side. Depends how the coaches can influence the players, south american can be entertaining but its not always effective.
I think belgium will give everyone a shock, Perhaps making semi’s / quarters. There team could be along the lines of..(Apologies now if i havnt managed to spell a single name right…)
GK – COURTOIS
DL – VERTOHOGEN
DC – KOMPANY
DC – VERMAELEN
DR – VAN BUTYEN
MC – FELLAINI
MC – DEMEBELE
MC – WITSIL
RW – HAZARD
LW – MIRRALAS
ST – BENTEKE
then theres Lukaku, Mertens, kevin de bruyne, Alderweireld ect. Unbelievable technical ability within the squad.

I definitely think Belgium will give a few teams a shake, but I still think they are one tournament away from taking a major trophy, I think Belgium and Germany will be the definite favourites for Euro 2016. They have a great lineup, but @gonufc is correct, Van Buyten has actually struggled to start and Alderweireld has been starting at RB.
Back to Argentina, they apparently have the right coach now and are playing fantastic, the biggest issue previously has been how they can get the very best out of all their attacking players, including Messi, for a team effort.
Brazil impressed me in patches but their defeat of Spain must surely be taken with a pinch of salt. They played the high energy, high pressing tactic from Germany, but the difference was that Brazil were clinical in taking their chances.
At the end of the day, much depends on the group draws, then we will see the best stand out! Hoping for another group of death, Imagine having Brazil, Belgium, Holland & Ivory Coast in one group!

Comment #12Italy also have strong squad, even if they are not always smooth but they always managed to get to finals.
Buffon, Bonucci, Bazzagli, Chiellini, DeRosi, Pirlo, Montolivo, DeSciglio, Maggio, Abate, Santon, Giaccherini, Giovinco, El-Shaarawy, Balotelli, Candreva, Pazzini, Destro.

Comment #15Lets see how many first team signings we will make! I still don’t think it will be that many, but it could be a good time to rectify a few wrongs 🙂

Comment #18Gotta be Brazil for me, at home, 10 blokes playing well together, neymar doing what he feels like, but most importantly back to the good old fluid passing and moving, they’re close to the former selves for me.
Spain dont have a chance imo, Italy played them off the pitch, Brazil played them off the pitch. They look a little disjointed, id even expect us to give them a decent game.
Holland is a tricky one, one of the best attacking teams but defensively they struggle
Germany have struggled last couple of games but id expect them to galvanise for the cup, can never write them off but cant see them getting past quarters.
Belgium are great on paper but id take all other teams above to finish higher, id say around Portugal is my bet.

Comment #25From a previous post,Torq & Yo Yo regarding Siem De Jong I am in total agreement with your posts.150 games,50 goals + 33 assists,23 with right foot,7 left foot & 8 headed goals. If we sign only 1 player this should be the one,a no brainer for me.

Comment #28Shame it would have been good to get rid of Saylor and Willo and indulge my dream of N’Kolou or Sakho coming in.
Saylor to me is just a smirking goon who thinks he’s way better than the actuality. Colo and MYM are streets ahead of him in ability and speed.
The last month of the season Saylor just made mistake after mistake, but like Pardew I guess his contract must be too good to walk away from.

Anyway, went away and missed your comment the other day, about watching me (er…) and me being full of conceit etc… you dont seem to remember that I stuck up for you and suggested everyone back off because you were 12 1/2 years old, do you? Kids today. So ungrateful.

Comment #39While Pardew has admitted he’d have liked to have kept Perch, he felt letting him go was the right call.
“We have a squad that is quite thick, actually,” Pardew told the Gazette. “It was right for (Perch) to move on. I don’t think he could have played a bit part for us next year.
“With our best team, I didn’t think he was going to start regularly. Therefore he moves on.
“I think there might be one or two others in that boat.”
So the rumours that Pardew wanted to keep him are seemingly untrue

Comment #40thai-mag.@30…….. Could Joe have made a mistake when he’s arranged his holiday with Ashley? That’s probably the case as he’s never told a porkie in his life. Prone to hyperbole at odd times he may be but pirkies, never.
Honesty’s one of his key qualities and we love him for it, don’t we.
