Seven of Newcastle’s games through the end of November will be screened live in the UK.

Fabricio Coloccini – will lead Newcastle next season

Sky Sports (SkyS) have chosen five of Newcastle’s games, and BT Sports (BTS) have selected two matches to be shown live in the UK, over the first eleven weeks of the season.

In the US we have been promised that every single Premier League game will be available live on either Fox Sports (Subsidiary of Sky Sports) or NBC Sports, who have taken over from ESPN, and now share the duties for the very first time, of broadcasting Premier League games.

And Newcastle’s very first game has been put back to Monday night – so at least we’ll know what we have to do to be top of the league after the game. :D

Here are the Newcastle games that will be televised live in the UK,with the new kick-off times – courtesy of the Newcastle United web-site:

Mon 19th Aug, 2013 – Man City v Newcastle (8:00 pm KO), SkyS
Mon 30th Sep, 2013 – Everton v Newcastle  (8:00 pm KO ), SkyS
Sat 19th Oct, 2013 – Newcastlev Liverpool (12.45 pm KO), BTS
Sun 27th Oct, 2013 – Sunderland v Newcastle  (4:00 pm KO), SkyS
Sat 2nd Nov, 2013 – Newcastle v Chelsea (12.45 pm KO), BTS
Sun 10th Nov, 2013 – Tottenham v Newcastle  (12:00 pm KO, Sky S

Where did I say we wouldnt spend money, and simply happy with our team?! Recent trend says £20-25m, with 5-7m out …. We will spend money, but I think its not a necessity this season, arguably another striker or 2 is but that is it.

You simply asked why are other clubs buying, and we are not. Because we simply do not want the players they are buying, and ensure value for money.

As seen we will buy players worth twice the amount we pay for them. Sissoko we could sell for £10m+ now we paid £2-3million, this is not only good business but they are decent players. Cabaye is another example paid £4m can sell now for £20m+ and hes a good player. But some people rather buy Henderson for £16m or Rodwell for £16m and our club end if debt in the process…. aswell as having lesser players!

    Ruddy

Probably because you are one…… you wish we did things like good ol’Freddy did them, buying has beens for 15m then seeing our club in 100m+ in debt! Woot score!

Ok mate, you simply have not got the brain cells to understand debt.

Debt is something you do not want to accumulate and soon needs to be gone for the FFP rules. Hence the introduction of money the next 3 years.

Nevermind though you being chairman we would be the next Pompey! No worries!

WE made a profit last year btw, Arsenal do, Swansea probably have this year, Man Utd could as they have 10x the revenue than any other club being worldwide.

Lol again contradiction is the right word in this case!

not wishing to be funny or ignorant but how can you have profit if you are in debt

I would say you’ve missed the point but I don’t even think you were aiming for the point, that’s how far out in the stratosphere you are.

As for Man United making a profit? You’re having a laugh man! They are lumbered with debt!

  • 9 John Tudor // Jul 11, 2013 at 3:43 PM

you can make a profit and still be in debt out of the profit the debt should be decreasing surely

  • 10 pawl250 // Jul 11, 2013 at 3:43 PM

Each year is a separate year John.

We are 100m in debt, or were, we arent now because MA loaned the club money to clear it to stop interest.

But debt is an accumulated figure, a profit figure for each year is a different thing. The profit of this years accounts, will reduce debt or more commonly known as losses from previous years.

Profits are based on each year.

The “debt” or even loan is on the balance sheet.

    Pawl,
The blogs verdict is unanimous that you are the most boring long winded poster ever and if you are going to spout pro Mashley facts get them right, James Milner was sold in August under KKs nose for financial and not footballing reasons, one of the major decisions that led to our demise that year.

  • 17 John Tudor // Jul 11, 2013 at 3:53 PM

Pawl …….like I say give MA a ring, he’s bound to give you a job and you could work for free to save him money. In the meantime we can struggle with a small sqad.

  • 19 Mister Tuff // Jul 11, 2013 at 3:55 PM

Back to actual players – I see that idiot at Swansea, whats his name, Laudrup, has signed Wilfried Bony for 12 million quid -what a waste of money. Must be deluded if he thinks that Bony and Michu will form a partnership to cause havoc amongst the PL teams this season. But what if Laudrup has got it spot on -crap.

Look mate we clearly have different priorities as football fans I’d rather the person who owns a big PL team realises what that means or sells up and allows someone else to come in and exploit what’s on offer here. U seem to prefer Ashley making a solid investment and our club ticking over

Imo the squad of last season were very disappointed with just Anita coming in especially as their huge wages that we struggle to cope with are largely offset by bonuses based on finishing position

They’ll have to bring the mackem match start time forward or there will be a lot of bother.

I wonder if the sports channels are expecting a few more goals from the opposition as per the mackem (3) and Liverpool (6) games at the end of the season.

Hopefully JoKe will NOT conduct any pre or post match interviews, but I’ll bet that the TV stations will try their best to get him showing up himself and our club live on camera.

    1. colo wants to stay cos its his best chance to get in argentinas WC squad.. if he went to a better club he might not play..if he went to san lorenzo now..well..some managers dont rate argentinian league..

    2. as for our summer transfer activity:
id be happy if we just sell gosling, willo & jonas.. considering pardew likes to attack with defenders, santon should take jonass place as a winger.. but that means we should buy a defender who can play as CB & LB (sakho, vermaelen..or sth similar) & another striker like remy..

& then…if theres money still avalible we should sign big striker like bent or sth similar & replace obertan with sinclair or ince..

    GK: krul, elliot
    LB: new LB/CB, haidara
    RB: debuchy, taylor
    CB: colo, mbiwa, taylor, newLB/CB
    RW: hatem (sinclar, ince)
    LW: santon, goufrann (remy)
    CM: cabaye, anita, tiote, moussa
ST: cisse, (remy, bent?) goufrann campbel

    so new signings:
    new LB/CB: (sakho, vermaelen or..)
    RW: sinclar, ince, or??
ST: remy? & big ST to replace shola (bent?)

if we pulled this off we have a squad to compete for top 4 finish…

The only team in our league that makes a big amout of profit would be arsenal and that’s because they have wenger.

  • 37 WWYCD // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:13 PM

Newcastle go on for months about needing attacking option…spend the summer buying a back up GK

  • 38 kevymartins // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:14 PM

Just think of what sort of money arsen wenger has brought to arsenal, champions league consistently, There untouchable season, and think how much he got to spend of it.

And is you ask me arsenal are a pritty good team, so you don’t necessarily need to spend big.

  • 39 John Tudor // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:15 PM

It doesn’t matter about there expectations even though there failing there pritty much still winning they get champions league every season rake in money and there fans aren’t ashamed because there team is fighting a relegation battle.

  • 49 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:27 PM

    Yes massively
Ask any arsenal fan, it’s been 8 years since they won a trophy, rarely go anywhere in the CL and have scraped CL qualification for the last 3 years are in huge danger of being overtaken by there most fierce rivals
You ask an arsenal fan if there happy
Even Wenger knows he needs to spend big this summer, he’s admitted that and is actively pursuing some massive targets

Didn’t say fail I said falling, they have fallen from what they once were because football moved on around Wenger and they haven’t adjusted to it

To be in CL for us is a huge achievement for them it’s minimum they expect

  • 52 Tommyy // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:29 PM

  • 53 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:30 PM

We were fighting a relegation battle because Ashley penny pinched last summer instead of maximising a huge opportunity to really kick on, our position is entirely down to the tw@ who runs the club

@Tads wenger is entitled to spend money I wouldn’t even likee to know how much he has brought to arsenal. Look at the players he has made henry, van persie, wilsher, reyes, pires, gilberto silva, kolo toure, sol campbell. I think he can spend if he want’s but what exactly has pardrew brought to this club? Loving the hate mate, keep it coming.

Think some of you are getting me wrong though.

I UNDERSTAND what MA is doing, and why he doing it. I like most, if not all supporters wish we could get big players, play amazing football.

BUT life is not like that, we have a good team, its getting better, look at it before relegation to now, and if thats mere buttons and 3 years, what will we have in 3 more years?!

Its improving, albeit one step at a time but it is.

As for people talking about finances saying they done give a flyer, well I would love to see you go to work on a day your company says …. “look we have no money to pay you with” see what you would do?

Fact is its because of MA we have a team to watch and support, and that is probably closer to fact than opinion as the way we were going ….. I don’t like to think about it.

As for most boring ever, half the comments on here I bypass as its all crap, so if am boring you sorry but bypass it, no one is asking you to read it.

Its not exactly rocket science bloody hell!? I don’t respond to half the tripe on here, just ignore it. BUT if you wish to write an epic in return so be it, I will respond constructively and engage in conversation.

Not the meer brainless “MA out” or “we are crap” or “why have we not signed anyone” …… its basic and boring, this is a blog not Facebook or Twitter!

  • 59 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:37 PM

    What has pardew bought?
    Cabs
    Cisse
    Ba
    MYM
    Debuchy
    Haidara
    Santon
    Marveux
    Anita
    Gouffran
    Ben arfa
    Sissoko

    What’s your point?
The fact that Wenger has money to spend and hasn’t is why the club are falling from grace, his arrogance is his biggest flaw
He’s never replaced even half the players you have listed and the team look gutless and disjointed and spurs are rapidly gaining on them

  • 60 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:38 PM

    5th to 16th is improving?

Is the improvement you’re referring to financial or football?

Because it certainly isn’t on the field lad.

  • 61 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:40 PM

Also quit referring to Mike Ashley as the saviour of this football club. It’s Stockholm Syndrome at its most embarrassing and is very unbecoming of someone who claims to be a Newcastle United fan.

  • 62 kevymartins // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:41 PM

@Tads my point is wenger has made money to spend, he get’s around 30 million for just being in the champions league every season. What money has pardrew made? we sold AC and bought players with the money, where finishing low and bearly making a profit. There is nothing there to spend. So you would rather just keep spending and never get the clubs debt paid off?

  • 65 Spotlight Kid // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:44 PM

    Pawl1250@1,10…,58 etc.

You are attempting to conflate value and profitability, which are two different entities. A company (say Google) can have zero profitability and a massive value; the opposite is also possible.

In NUFC’s case, it is only returning profit as it is being bankrolled by Ashley, it is being bankrolled by Ashley because (supposedly) he did not do due diligence. In other words he overpaid for the club to the tune of the 100m black hole..

Fat FS walked off with a wad, when it was he and his mates that should have taken that £100m hit – not the club. The club should have been sold at its real market value ie: the 2007 price (believed to be around £134m, but reports vary) minus the £100m black hole = £34m.

Obviously this is very low, so it would then been up to Ashley to work out how much extra ‘opportunity cost’ he was willing to fork out to acquire the club PLUS this £100m incumbent debt – or simply walk away.

Alas, the problem is not quite that simple as he was already a significant shareholder and the disclosure of the £100m hole would have sent his shares tumbling. So did MA already know about the debt and chose to play the game? It must remain a possibility, and if so he would then have crunched the figures to work out which way to treat the debt worked best for him.

Either way, the club should have been sold at its real value as the artificial value inflation by non-disclosure has led to the £100m burden being placed on the club, when it should have been placed on the the wallets of owners, past or present.

Whichever way the wind blows, the 2007 sale always smells funny – and the long term fallout is holding the club back to this day.

  • 66 WWYCD // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:44 PM

Ashley’s the reason we have a club to support? Dear me

Tbf had he not priced out those who bought Man City we would be supporting Silva, Aguero and Yaya Toure by now swings and round abouts I suppose

    Ruddy the squad

Look at the squad, and last year was different, I honestly think if we had less injuries (serious concern btw) we would have moved up the table comfortably.

Look am not asking you to believe me, or change your mind but the meer fact you have no considered how many injuries we actually had bemuses me!

It was a special case, and I do not care who you are outside the top 6, hell Everton even if they had most of their starting team out, then most of the back up players at the same time and having kids appear, then they would have been in the same situation.

This season, providing its more like the 5th season in terms of injuries (we will get some but not to that extent) you will see a top 10 finish, then look to improve on that with the goal to break top 6, then top 4 etc.

You cannot do it overnight! Look at QPR and the money they spent! Did them wonders didn’t it?! Redknapp, a decent manager and still coudln’t do it!

They spent a stupid amount of money!!! Why would you want to do that, they could have bought our team 2-3 times over? Money does not always solve the problem in terms of buying Shepard proved that with the tripe he bought!

Keegan and Bobby are the only ones that bought sensible infact look how much Bobby spent it was mere buttons!!

Just in reference to a previous article about Perdu’s record.

I hate comparisons like that to previous or other managers. It can only be fair if both managers have exactly the same conditions.

Course king kev had a better success rate, his team were far better than now and we were spending money like no ones business.

Not defending AP, just saying what a pointless waste of time those comparisons are.

You can’t get to champions league without spending man!
Pardew got us qualified for Europe, said on numerous occasions that we needed to strengthen, Ashley ignored pardew as always was left with egg on his face we had a season ravaged with injuries which led to a disjointed line up every week
You can contort or twist the situation and compare pardew to who ever the fact is we’re in the position were in because of one man only Mike Ashley, a man who was found to be a proven liar in court, which no doubt added to the debt which magically increases under Ashley every season by having to pay of keegan
6 years of the fat fcuk and pardew is the only one who has bought us a decent season
Don’t forget he didn’t get us relegated, but Mike Ashley did, think about that before you start praising MA

  • 73 swisstone // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:48 PM

In terms of where we are now i do think its forgotten we were the biggest recruiters in jan.

Pardew himself said we forced to make a couple of those signing earlier than we otherwise would have.

Yes we need to strengthen but hardly doom and gloom

I haven’t considered the injuries? I have, and I still believe Pardew didn’t cut the mustard.

I’ve never once asked the club to spend stupid money so once more you’re assuming things that no one has said.

If you think we will break the top 4 or even top 6 consistently with Ashley and Pardew then I am afraid you are deluding yourself.

Jazzy look back mate, Sunderland had 17 first team players as window opened, they need players!

Thats what 14m now?! on what 7-9 players?!

We spent 18m on 5 players in January!!

Looked to buy PEA for 15m alone! Does not show ambition buying a load of players, in fact its worrying!

  • 83 savio // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:53 PM

i think we as fans should not be that much concerned of our finances right now….If we can get a cabaye or a sissoko sort of signing,i will be more than happy with it…the important thing is that we need to sign some quality players…that doesnt mean we should spend like manchester city or something…we do have a strong base to buld on…maybe a couple of quality signings would do for this season…i would be happy with sinclair/remy,bent and a yound cb…the most important thing is to take care of our injury problems….there is something really wrong with our fitness team…that should be sorted out…if we could start the following team for atleast 30 games,we could have a really great season.

    Krul

    Debuchy MYM Colo Santon

Sissoko Anita/Tiote(Depending on the opposition and form)

    Cabaye

    Ben Arfa Remy/Sinclair

    Cisse

    Sub:Eliott,Saylor,Haidara,Goufran,Bent,Marveux,Campbell

Signing players is worrying? Huddlestone would be an excellent signing for them, he has a great range of passing.

If we’re talking about buying British, buying cheap, I wouldn’t have been adverse to signing Huddlestone for 5m and moving Tiote on.

  • 89 pawl250 // Jul 11, 2013 at 4:56 PM

    Ruddy

I NEVER thought we would get in the EL again, but we did.

We have a strong team, average manager I agree, but he did take us to 5th so give him time, see what happens.

Also most people are moaning about no buys, or simply why we do not have ambition by not buying players now. INCLUDING YOU.

Its the 11th of July not even August and you are desperate for signings …..

“I don’t want the financial security of my club to suffer, but to suggest that we don’t have the capacity to invest in the way that other clubs around us are is ludicrous in my opinion.”

We will invest, give them a chance. The number 1 target clearly was PEA, we didn’t get him and Pardew himself said they are looking to bring 2 strikers in, 4 or 5 targets. I admit its not guaranteed, but he too knows the issue of our squad, and what is needed to improve it.

I understand that you want success, we all do. But if we tell you that the club just doesn’t have the money to spend the amounts you want, why don’t you listen?

There are only two possible ways that we can have the kind of success that is the only way to make fans like you happy:
1 – gradual progression over several years, buying players with resale value, selling them when a huge bid comes in, not paying huge wages even after a player becomes useless to us, developing our youth team. Even if we do it right, this will take several years before we can be a fixture in the top 8, let alone 6 or 4.

2 – we could get an owner like Man City, Chelski, PSG or QPR. There are only a certain number of owners like that in the world, FFP will make it more difficult anyway, and personally I don’t like this Championship Manager attitude to football. I’ve found myself wanting Man Utd to win the league simply because I don’t want City or Chelski to win it.

Likewise, I’ve seen plenty of muppets on here stating that we’re going to get relegated next season too.

Where’s the balance? When we finished 5th, that was overachievement based on key players staying fit and excelling. Really, our squad was only good enough for about 9th or 10th. Last season we underachieved due to key players being injured or off form for a lot of the season, though we should have finished around 8th or 9th.

Next season, assuming we get at least a striker in, we should be finishing 7th or 8th.

Last season we underachieved due to key players being injured or off form for a lot of the season, though we should have finished around 8th or 9th.

Next season, assuming we get at least a striker in, we should be finishing 7th or 8th.

    How do you figure that
Can you predict the injuries we will have next season?
And we have all ready lost 3 players 2 of which played large parts last season with the possibility of more to still go out

We all do. But come on…tell me what you realistically want? Exactly what you want the club to do. I’d quite like us to sign Messi, Ronaldo and Iniesta on frees because they buy themselves out of their contracts and desperately want to play for us…but that ain’t gonna happen.

So tell me what you realistically want, I’ll probably tell you why it’s not realistic after all, and then we’re all happy with some realistic expectations.

It’s not simply new signings that we require – we need new tactics, a new approach and a new f’ing formation.

No more square pegs in round holes, no more hoooof ball, no more defending with 30mins to play, no more cameo roles for Shola. If we continue to train the same and keep to the same Pardew’esq tactics then it honestly doesn’t matter who we bring in.

The current set up needs addressed first before throwing new ‘flair players in to the mix.

Anyway, next season Marveux will be like a new signing, again ;-)

As stated the reason he argues is because he thinks his opinion is 100% categorically correct, and cannot fathom anyone thinking otherwise.

Therefore steps on them if they do so, resulting in what you see 9 times out of 10.

I understand his concerns for the club, inside me I have them doubts myself. BUT you cannot expect us to challenge top 4, as the reality of the situation is we are simply not good enough yet.

But we are improving using a financially stable forumla, which allows mistakes like Obertan to happen rather than an Afonso Alves for 18m or whatever it is and he be a complete flop.

No one can guarantee Bony will be amazing, and if he is not that is 12m down the drain for a not so big club!

Time will only tell, this will allow us to develop over time and improve. We have done so in my opinion, and last year was a blip in the improvement due to injuries. I am strong believer of that.

I have only ever made 1 excuse for Pardew, I felt for him last season. People said he was saying it over and over but injuries were a major factor in my opinion.

No other club had the impact like we did. Injuries pretty much wrecked any hope we had for a decent season.

I can fault Pardew on numerous occasions, but his squad selection was limited the majority of the season, still that does not excuse him putting Cisse on the wing and Shola down the middle admittedly, and he needs to improve his tactics.

But I am willing to give him time as he did well season before.

    1. an owner with football ambition
    2. a DoF with some connection to the modern game
    3. a manager who wants European football and isn’t just an excuse maker
    4. a desire to return the club to being something we are all proud of instead of a continual laughing stock. With hirings like Kinnear, Wise, Jimenez we are a joke thanks to our owner. Save the club financially but destroy its heart and soul. A despicable man with no clue as far as decent behavior is concerned.

Our squad value, our wage bill, our revenue all put us as the 7th/8th biggest club in the PL. So that should be where we finish. But you’re right, football is unpredictable and that’s what makes it fun. So it’s possible that we’ll have injuries and a bad season and finish lower and it’s possible that we’ll have a cracking season and finish 5th or 6th.

And we will sell about 3 more aswell as loan more out.

    Geordie Two

We are a joke because before all this we demanded the head of the majority of our managers in almost a conveyor belt fashion with months apart from each other.

We are a joke because we have fans punching horses and rioting after a football match, then coming out stating he was attempting to stroke it or whatever his excuse was.

We are a joke admittedly for the failure of PR during the appointment of JK and his following interviews.

We are not a joke for football, or Pardew, or MA. My opinion of course.

Pardew is lacking sometimes in the tactical department, but criticising your plays does not improve squad morale. I feel Di Canio will suffer from his poor ability to defend his team, to save face for himself. Pardew also has been restricted at times by MA like last summer. He was also restricted by injuries.

He finished 5th, not an easy feat in the current PL, but he did. I feel deserves another shot before the boot. BUT being negative towards him, the team and club will not improve matters. It only makes them worse!

He’s still waiting for the price of both Bent and Remy to come down further and even then we will try a lowball bid for both of them and fail. I would be surprised if we spend beyond 10-12M pounds which means 1 or at most 2 incoming. And only if we get it in gear.

But that’s unbelievable speculation! You’re reading negativity into a situation when you don’t need to. There are always bound to be conflicts in the workplace, and especially in emotive places like football clubs, that’s not a problem as long as they can work together.

There is no question whatsoever that JFK stuck his big fat foot in it with a couple of interviews early on where he appeared to have a case of verbal diarrhea. No doubt about that. But as long as he finds a way to work with Pardew behind the scenes and doesn’t continue to do such stupid interviews, then I’ll be able to overlook that.

I want Carr to be telling Pardew and JFK about this amazing young player, I want Pardew to be telling Carr that the player doesn’t fit in with the way he wants to play, I want JFK to tell Pardew that he can’t have this other amazing player because the club doesn’t want to sell him, and I want MA to tell JFK that he can’t sign a particular player because the budget isn’t there. Well…I’d rather he said that the budget was there, but someone has to look after the business side of the club, That’s the way it should work.

    Surreytoon -

Pardew is on a mountain, he is currently at the bottom and on what I would regard as thin ice.

I can already see come Man City game in the inevitable and expected defeat all the haters and doom and gloomers.

Like we expect to compete with Man City these days? 2 Players cost the entire of our squad!

But to the point, I agree Pardew and his tactics are sometimes questionable, but at times he has it bang on. I feel the Benfica games were not his fault, the team was to blame. The 2nd leg he nailed it for tactics and I cannot fault the players work rate too.

BUT he was restricted. Remember he sees players every day in training, and like all supporters we question why is Jonas on the pitch or SAF got Carrick or AW got why is Oxe not starting and so on.

He, and them see the players everyday. He knows the fitness levels, mental attitude, and playing ability. Do you really think any manager selects a team to lose?

I feel his team set ups at times can be questionable in terms of Shola central and Cisse wing, but he must have reasons for doing it. His long ball tactics are frustrating when we have good ball players at the club. His set pieces set up is appalling, I mean long ball to Willo or Taylor has NEVER worked for 2 years, really cannot see it working next week, or week after.

BUT he has managed to get us 5th, against extraordinary odds. Last season alot of things did not go our way, and you may call it excuses but I believe they had a massive effect. AND he is right 1 win would have had us 10th, and position we may have dreamed for towards the end.

I mean Wigan 2 handballs, no red card and a obvious penalty not given they managed to scrape it…..

Cisse goals disallowed, 4 I can count that were obvious…..

It all adds up, and injuries, the whole new guy syndrome, language barrier.

I feel this season is the time to judge, and hopefully the fitness problem will be resolved!!

  • 207 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 11, 2013 at 6:43 PM

Southampton signed Wanyama for £12.5M??? Wow…that’s a crazy amount of money for a 21 year old who has only player in small leagues. Saying that, he did do well in the CL for Celtic.

You see, a player like this could end up being the next Fellaini, but then I’d expect bigger clubs that Southampton to have been in for him.

This is the kind of player we used to sign and pay £60kpw. Then when he turned out to be rubbish, we kept paying his damn wages because nobody else would…

We have spent 20 million+ in the past 2 seasons

    http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/newcastle-united-transfers.html

Ok we have sold, but other than Ba would you have not sold those players?

Ba was a forced hand….. feel we could really do with 2 strikers and both JK and Pardew have acknowledged the fact we need them.

I foresee 20m expenditure, possibly a few million more. It really depends who we look for and what to strengthen.

Remy and De Jong should cost 15m, Bent 5m would almsot see our attacking options the best we have had since Shearer, Ferdy and Asprilla.

I think we wont sign all 3. But I do think 20m will be spent, we also have more TV money this year than normal so cannot see why he wont?

Just looking for the right players, and of course the right value. Why over pay, we have paid relatively small amounts for the standard of players we have in our squad. Its almost unthinkable that we could sell some players for 3-4x the value we paid!

  • 215 GeordieTwo // Jul 11, 2013 at 6:51 PM

Some good debate going on today despite the antagonism. It’s amazing to see the different views of the same club. I still look at it and say we are a club who finished 16th last season and still have done nothing to improve the club. Why dither and make lowball offers if you are committed and know what you are doing and who you are after? Especially if there is 17-25M available in the transfer kitty? :)

  • 216 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 11, 2013 at 6:52 PM

    TorqToon

I was very surprised when Everton signed Fellaini to be honest, but that didn’t work out too badly!

I don’t think it’s a problem when the release fee is massive like they often are in Spain, but I imagine if the transfer fee was £12.5M, then the release fee will actually be around £18-£20M. Still reasonable for the top clubs and if they do want him then Saints get a little profit and will have had at least a couple of seasons from a top class player.

But no…I don’t want us to sign players where it’s actually written into their contract that we are a stepping stone!

The way I read Pardew’s comments is that he’s been trying to defuse the antagonism directed at the club by the fans. He’s been seeking to clarify the fact that he’s still in charge of the squad.

He’s made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the Kebab comments too, and so he should have.

I wouldn’t have hired JFK and if I had then I’d have sacked him right after that interview…but he’s there not so MA, JFK, Carr and Pardew will find a way to work together for the benefit of the club. I’ve frequently had to work with colleagues that I thought were complete t*ss*rs and maybe we had a frosty relationship sometimes, but when it came to work we focussed on what we had to do.

Geordie 2 – This blog is at its best when it’. Good debate mixed with both conflict, humour and wishful thinking.

All the talk of finances etc doesn’t interest me! MA can do what he wants with his money, but throwing a few quid our way would be nice!

All I know is its very very quiet on all our targets. None of them being linked with other clubs, and nothing from agents trying to tout them.

    I still believe…

  • 226 toon kk // Jul 11, 2013 at 6:58 PM

It would be surprising everyone on here would feel so much happier if a quality striker was signed up. Apart from …..pawl and TDS……They would be worried we went bankrupt.

Yep. That was what I understood too. The only player I’ve been slightly disappointed on not getting so far has been PEA.

Your blathering means absolutely nothing unless you can answer the question that I asked (and re-asked) some time ago…

    REPOST

Good evening toon fans, all in good spirits I see!

The idea of reasoned debate is a little bit lost at the minute given the rollercoaster of a season we’ve just had, loads of reasonable but perhaps incorrect doubt and of course the normal drama and panic of silly season.

Let’s try and not let it get us down though guys. We don’t need to be turning on each other…we’ve got a long season of football coming up when we get to do that :)

Have you been taking lessons from TADS and Ruddy?

Where have I said I never wanted to sign a player, infact to contrary I have always and Torq can back me up wanted De Jong and Remy!!

PEA for me was never my main target, I rather have 2 new boys than 1! For roughly the same price!!

I think they over much more versatility too

    —————- Sissoko – Cabaye ————–
Ben Arfa ——— De Jong ———— Remy

Would be amazing to watch moving forward!

TDS – Me too! Would’ve loved him at this club. Would also have loved RVW bit Norwich nabbed him a long time ago!

    Cracking bit of business, like!

Bony, Carroll, Douglas et al, not bothered.

    TorqToon

Do they actually need foreign coaches though? Or do they just need coaches who have experience working with more of a passing style requiring technique? One problem is that whatever the coaches are doing, Pardew has to have a firm grasp of the style of play so that he can implement it on match day.

  • 236 Ibizatoon // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:05 PM

Does no one else think that this financial debate is getting a little silly? It’s lost any middle ground it may have had.

I don’t think anyone is saying we shouldn’t spend anything so that we can have a nice profit at the end of the season and that’s all they care about, nor do I think many (there will always be some) want the club to spend stupid money either, they just want the club to strengthen and address the areas which need so…like they started doing 2 summers ago.

I will as always bide my time, whilst I’d have liked our transfers to have been done early, it isn’t always possible. I know where the doubt comes from, but in the past the club have also surprised me so I have no reason to believe either scenario more than the other.

Come September though, if we haven’t done enough, I may likely take a trip off my fence…we’ll see.

  • 237 pawl250 // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:05 PM

    Rotanda

They said the same about Mbiwa but he cost 7m, I feel N’Koulou is not even the same standard of player so 5-6m is as high as I would go.

  • 238 GeordieTwo // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Yes we’ll see TorqToon mate @225. I’m still hoping for some decent incoming as well. I would never have brought in Kinnear. Ashley already knew that would drive everyone crazy. His ranting is ridiculous for a supposed adult, and he has barely begun again with us. A decent DoF might have been McLaren. Jol wouldn’t touch us with a 10 foot pole now either as manager or DoF. There can’t be many sensible football men who would. We have to hope Pardew has a good start to the season for the sake of the club so that Kinnear doesn’t step in. It’s hard to see a good result coming out of this.

  • 239 TorqToon // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:06 PM

  • 240 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:07 PM

    TorqToon

I wasn’t sure about RvW. I’d have liked us to have got him when he went to Sporting, but I think Norwich have paid quite a bit for a player that could go either way. He’s 24 now and this will be his first season in one of the 4 major European leagues. Good player, but I think we can do better. PEA going to BvB kinda proves that he’s better…

  • 241 pawl250 // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:07 PM

    No Torq

De Jong not Bent, for me its a whole new league when comparing the two.

Bent is too much in both buying and wages to simply replace Shola as a back up. Hes also too similar too Cisse “fox in the box” kind of style striker.

Ibiza, the only truly sensible and level-headed poster. Yes, I do put myself in with the rest of you, before someone starts.

I’ll begin getting concerned about lack of activity, if we haven’t signed anyone by next Friday. Why? Because JFK is on is jollies and doesn’t return ’til Monday, so why anyone is expecting a signing before next week is beyond me, because JFKs solitary role is to give signings the green light and get Mash to fork out for them, ipso-facto, no signings before next week.

  • 245 HullMag6 // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:10 PM

A little bit of needle within a group gets the job done, if all is cosy and rosy complacency will drift in like last summer everyone management and players got too cosy and complacent and it showed.

Competition for places, young hungry players nipping at the heels of the established squad thats how to keep it fresh and performances high in quality. I hope we sign at least 3 possible 1st teamers and a few back up/development players to prove on the existing body of men

  • 246 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:11 PM

    Ibiza

Very sensible post and I do agree. I think what frustrates people like pawl and I is the irrational anger towards the club and demand for, frankly, irrational signings.

    I’m completely bored of reading:
    – MA is tight
    – Pardew has lost the dressing room
    – We’re going to get relegated because of the above
    – Yet, we “should” be in the top 6 at least

All of the above is complete rubbish.

You’re probably right, expecting anything this week is likely bordering on madness given our new and improved negotiator is away. I will be frustrated if the deals drag out, but it can happen. What I really don’t want to hear come September is “we tried”. I’m not expecting miracles this summer, but some intent. It’s still early doors, but other clubs are looking like they’re active, we can’t leave ourselves short….again.

TDS….I do think it’s very easy to group people together on here. Understandable given the amount of different discussions going on etc, but it just escalates and gets a little heated at times. Basically, we’re all a big bunch of girls (no offense to any women reading).

Big summer ahead for Mike and likewise a big season ahead for Pardew. They really made things hard for themselves after last summer, things were starting to get all a bit too easy.

  • 258 Toon1978 // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:21 PM

Evening lads….still no signings lol but i do believe we will eventually bring in 3 or 3 players of good quality. Sein De Jong, S.Sinclair, Remy and Bent would be awesome aswell as keeping our best players. It would really set us up for the coming season. A little sad to see Gosling leaving and Perch. I try not to group people on here at all, but I find it amazing that when someone decides to contradict the typical “we NEED to sign…” or “we’ve got loads of money to spend” or “MA is taking loads of money out of our club” rubbish, then suddenly a group of players decide to gang up on that person and insinuate that he’s not a proper fan because he points out the truth of the situation.

We all want success for our club, but I don’t want to go back to the Shepherd boom/bust days. I don’t want us to be saddled with debt that sees us relegated again, I want us to build our squad, improve our youth academy and push forward so we can be in the CL again in my lifetime!

  • 271 sparky55 // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:34 PM

    May I attempt to summarise

Rich bloke (MA) buys a vehicle (nufc) to help promote recently AIM listed company (SD) whose shares have just gone down the toilet post listing and he is in the middle of buying a load of shares back on the cheap and wants to add value to SD shares by promoting business via nufc.

Although a very clever man he has no idea how to run a football club and unfortunately listens to his footballing friends (DW and Co) and unfortunately gets talked into letting said friends manage the club on his behalf after all existing management jump ship knowing what a financial mess it’s in.

It all very quickly goes Pete Tong…the fans turn on Allardyce and he also finds out he needs to inject another 100 million into the club to cover unforeseen and unaccounted expenses.

In an effort to keep fans on side he appoints special k but all goes pete tong again due to fall out with DW and then replaces with JFK. The fans revolt, JFK has a heart attack and again in an effort to appease fans brings in Shearer to save the day which as predicted by most ends in disaster and we go down.

At this point the fans have turned on MA to such an extent he can’t even come to home games to watch the club he owns for fear of his own safety. He’s undecided what to do…his pride doesn’t want him to cut and run but finds the situation intolerable…he flips a coin and it comes up tails so the club is for sale…but no-ones interested or can raise the money.

Houghton brings the club back into the premiership at the first attempt, he buys well but having taken advice from someone behind the scenes he sacks Houghton and replaces him with Pardew…Probably his biggest mistake thus far.

Having sunk quite a bit of his personal fortune into the club by now and having supported houghton in the previous summer then sacking him three months later, all hell breaks loose after selling Andy Carroll for a small fortune in the January window and the following summer we buy big from France and put together a very good squad which the following year we finish 5th and Pardew is all of a sudden a saint and the purple player strategy devised by Lambias is all of sudden looked upon by the footballing world as the way forward.

Having gotten to the lofty heights of 5th MA takes some more bad advice from someone he trusts and decides not to spend any money to strengthen the squad…we have no idea how or why he came upon this suicidal decision but someone with an alleged footballing knowledge or perhaps an accountant steers him down the path to perdition.

With relegation staring him in the face and the possibility of losing out on the single biggest SKY football deal ever he spends big in january and buys five more french players and thank god he did otherwise we’d be down for sure.

We finish 5th bottom, he hires JFK as a DOF, Lambias resigns and although we have a great squad the fans only two weeks into the transfer window are baying for blood with no apparent deals on the offing.

the moral of the story being…

Never buy a football club without an established management team unless you’re going to manage it yourself.

Never hire friends and family to run your football club

Never go against the business principles that have made you rich when running a football club.

Never listen to friends or the fans or you’ll be broke before you know it.

    Questions…

Has he put his hands in his pocket YES

Does he get any thanks NO

Does the club make any money…WHO CARES

Will he spend in the summer…OF COURSE HE WILL

Does he want success…OF COURSE HE DOES

Are we a bunch of self righteous knobs for slagging off everyone and everything about our great club…OF COURSE WE ARE!

My message to you all…LET THEM GET ON WITH IT…THEY JUST MIGHT SURPRISE YOU AND WE’RE LUCKIER THAN MOST IN THE PREMIERSHIP.

    PS…Should we sack pardew…HELL YES

    TDS
That’s you mate, I’m sure your professional man management skills are top notch :)

But so far there has been no signs of cohesion between what MA wants, JFK wants and what pardew wants and certainly nothing to suggest that the frankly bizarre decision of appointing a DOF so late and even more bizzare appointment of making that DOF JFK!

I mean why should pardew be defusing the situation? There should be no situation to defuse, that rests on MA
And to not have a managing director lined up? There’s always business to be done, new sponsor deals to be looking for etc.

I think it’s a given that every fan has there own idea on the direction the club should be heading, for me, trying to be realistic as requested, this is what I want to see in say the next 2 seasons, lets start with this window!

A recognised CF, not a Darren bent, would be more than happy to see someone bought in from abroad within the clubs current blue print
Like remy, Mathias Suarez, gameiro, Ben yedder, volland even reckon we could get a deal on someone like Hernandez given the players manure are looking to bring in!

A creative force in midfield, only De Jong for me!

    A young CB

Wingers!!!! We need width! Sinclair, Romain Alessandrini, moses

For general progression lets say by the end of next season as not to rush mr Ashley ;)

    The academy
It’s been stated time and time again we will look to rely on/produce our own talent
So he released the majority, but didn’t replace them this needs addressing massively IMHO
Also it needs to be sorted to a CAT A academy, were not in London where youngsters are spoilt for academy’s, the north it’s basically us the scum and the smoggies, atm both have a better academy than us which makes them a more attractive option than us for up and coming players, defo not on!!!!

    The coaching approach
This needs addressing massively! Our players, not just last season, seem to be out of shape, injury prone and are tactics are non existent!!
The rehab of our lads coming back from injury seems to be a joke tbh

A stable and consistent direction, not seemingly making up targets as the season goes along!!

    A DOF who isn’t a complete c***

    Don’t think that’s to unreasonable?

  • 274 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:36 PM

    John Tudor

Yet again a poor understanding of the accounts. Sure, there’s more debt in the club that there was when MA bought it. That’s because we got relegated and we had a bunch of hasbeens and never-will-bes on huge wages that we had to keep paying.

Shepherd had signed players based on future TV revenue that we hadn’t even received yet. This was done as a gamble to get into the CL…which failed.

Stop worrying about the debt though, that will be taken care of one way or another.

Things that would be worrying if they were true (but they aren’t):
    – MA paying himself millions a year (like Shepherd did)
    – Pardew losing the dressing room (believe me, he would be gone if that ever happened)

Other than that, I just hope we sign at least 2 attacking players this summer and continue to focus on the youth too.

Excellent (if a little long) post!

I’m with you in everything apart from the Pardew issue. This is just a matter of opinion though so I appreciate some people are different. I don’t think he’s the best manager in the world but I think his 5th place finish and the support he seems to have from the players gives him another shot this season.

He’s gone if we’re looking like bottom half as we get into December though. But if we’re sitting pretty in the top half, surely nobody will be calling for him to be sacked.

I think it’s too early to be clear of a lack of cohesion. Yeah, JFK was a bizarre appointment, but it’s been made now and every since the initial rants, the signs have been good enough.

I’m sure MA is well aware that another role needs to be filled, but we do have an FD, MA (or other employees of his) can always step in if required and JFK is running the football side of the club.

So you’d want us to sign a striker, an attacking midfielder, a young centre back and 2 wingers? Assuming 4 of these players are starters, who do you expect to sell or drop? In my view we need a striker and an attacking midfielder/winger, plus young players to push the fringe players. I’d be happy with a young CB as 4th choice if Willo leaves for example.

Totally agree on the academy too. From what I understand, we do have CAT A but that’s just because the downgrade has been deferred until the next assessment. If we fail next time, then we get downgraded and that will be a bit embarrassment for the club.

I agree on injuries too. This has been a problem at our club for as long as I can remember and I’m really not sure what the problem is. I can tell you that Big Sam would have had that sorted if he’d had a bit more time. I don’t agree on the tactics so much though. I think we had a really hard time last season with several key players being injured and that led to us not being able to play the way we wanted, and when we tried quite often the players we needed were either off-form or just not good enough.

We have a DoF who is a complete c***, can’t change that. Let’s just hope he’s a c*** who can do his job…

Wanyama maybe, but not at 12 mil

  • 292 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 11, 2013 at 7:51 PM

I just don’t see what Mike Ashley wants out of NUFC anymore. He clearly isn’t a die hard NUFC or football fan for that matter. I originally thought he wanted to buy us plaster our stadium with Sports Direct signs (even naming the stadium Sports Direct Arena) and in that case even bad publicity was good publicity because people were talking about it.

Every man and their dog knows about Sports Direct in the UK now, a lot of it from our misfortune at times. That led me to believe Ashley’s next move was to get us into Europe so he could get his brand on TV stations in a bigger European market than just the odd PL game against one of the big teams.

After achieving that the next logical step would be the Champions League where exposure is at its highest.

In conclusion I think his 5 or 6 year plan was to flaunt Sports Direct as much as he could through us with Champions League being the best we could ever achieve, then when exposure had reached the highest it ever would he would sell up. Thoughts ?

Yep. They made a big mistake. But it is only football as you say. It’s bloody hard to make the right decisions all the time too. Ask fans of the 20 clubs if they were happy last season. I bet you that only Utd, Swansea, West Brom, Southampton and Norwich fans were happy with where they finished, and I bet even some of those fans are whinging that they could have done more!

It’s irrelevant what you think is a big spending spree though. The club should only spend money that the club have. It’s alright for huge clubs like Liverpool and the rest to spend huge amounts of money because they have loads more money than us.

We simply don’t have £50M to spend on transfers and an additional £200kpw to add to the wage bill. Even with the additional TV revenue, we still couldn’t stretch to that…yet…

I agree we can’t compete with the big boys anymore but we need to start spending in transfer windows, now more than ever. The likes of Norwich and Southampton are attracting some pretty big names and its not because they are a necessarily big European draw like us but because the money is in the PL.

If you could pick up Yohan Cabaye’s or Michu’s window after window wouldn’t everybody be doing it ? . You need to find a balance and buy sensibly. The majority of the time you get what you pay for and a top quality striker will cost 10 million plus now a days.

I wouldn’t object to Tiote being replaced, but I’d love him to get back to the form he showed in the previous season. We definitely need a striker to compete with Cisse and preferably also one who can play alongside him. We’ve got Ben Arfa, Goofy and Marveaux to play the attacking roles too, but yeah I’d like to see another player here.

We have Cabs, Tiote, Anita and Sissoko to play in central midfield but I just don’t quite see where Jonas fits in. He’s also a pretty big earner too I think.

I’d love to see Bigi or Vuckic have a good season for us, maybe even Sammy, Fergie or Tav will go on loan for a bit and come back in January to get into the first team, who knows?!

I know we need at least one striker/attacking midfielder and that’s got to be the bare minimum. But it would be nice if we could upgrade players like Jonas, Obertan, Willo too.

    We’ll see…

Anyway, off to get some grub. Fight the good fight!

I think there are dozens of other clubs trying to do exactly the same thing. Some will be offering more money, some will be offering European football, some will be offering first team football when we’re not.

We don’t need a massive overhaul, we need gradual improvement each transfer window. The club has made it clear that they want to take their time and do the proper analysis of each player to maximise the chances that they will come good. It’s been a long time since we had a truly rubbish transfer and long may that continue.

So we’re trying to do exactly what you say, and a £15-20M net spend is pretty reasonable in my opinion. Maybe that even leaves a little for another signing in January if we can get the right player available…who knows!

Very interesting post sparky55 @271. A very good summary of what has happened, although your conclusions don’t really match up well with the story you tell. Does Ashley want Newcastle to succeed? Yes but only because of the profit motive. Does he have any clue about how to bring consistent success? No, as you have described very well. Will he succeed if we leave him alone and let him get on with it? No, not as far as football is concerned. He doesn’t have a clue, hence we have Kinnear and Pardew in charge. But a very good read mate.

The sad thing is we already have Krul,Debuchy,M’biwa,Collocini,Cabaye,Sissoko,HBA & Cisse. And with a few additions, the right playing mentality that fits the players style and our fan base it could be great.

GEORDIETWO@323…I don’t think for one second Pardew will be the manager at the start of the season and as far as I’m concerned JFK is only in there as a short term stop gap til it’s sold at which time the new owner will pay up his contract and he’ll walk away a happy man.

IMO this is an interim management situation and MA will continue to invest this summer but I think he’ll simply be re-investing the money he gets for Cabs plus whatever small sum he’s made available as a transfer budget.

Although it all looks rubbish at the minute and the JFK thing looks like pure madness, I strongly believe there is method in the madness now and we’ll all be smiling (except JT of course) and the world will be a better place…Just my opinion of course!

Tom – funny you should say that…

This story JUST broke on SSN!!!

You sir, are CLEARLY ITK!!! Ha

  • 365 Belfast // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:01 PM

I think if we do very little in this window, next season will play out in the same way as last season.

We’ll probably be fine until we get a few injuries.
    Then we’ll be shite.

Think the only reason we stayed up last season, was because Qpr and Reading we’re terrible to be honest.

Don’t think we could get away with it next year again.

  • 366 GeordieTwo // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:04 PM

Thanks for your reply sparky55 @351. I hope you’re right mate. We could definitely use a change of manager. If Joe could calm down and focus on the job instead of abusing the press we might get somewhere. Just lock yourself in your office Joe and don’t answer any calls from the press. Take a few deep breaths and start making calls to other clubs about players Carr has recommended. Keep it simple Joe old lad.

  • 367 John Tudor // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:07 PM

torq your just upset coz i called you a child and you cant convert some peoples thought processes. as i said earlier i can accept your philosophy if ashley holds up his hands and explains his plans but it ain’t not gonna happen and if its bullying i’m accused of let him who is without sin cast the first stone

  • 368 Toon_Tom // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:08 PM

Hahaha cheers Torq – does this new vital piece of ‘intel on my part allow me access to your secret ITK society?

I have always been ITD (in the dark) ;)

In other news – Sparky, you honestly think Pards won’t be here for the ManCity game? I called for his head at the end of last season, and rightly so, but the players seem to like him, even if its just as a person, and in all honesty, which manager is available, and willing, to throw himself in to the poison chalice that is NUFC?

We can’t attract too players currently never mind top bosses!

Even tho, admittedly, I called for Pards’ head, I now strongly believe that simply due to the fact we were soooo close to CL football the previous season, pulled of some cracking results/performances – and then ‘twinned with last years shambles – I do believe he deserves a second chance.

However – I do think my feelings towards Pards changed dramatically upon the arrival of JFK. The enemy of our enemy is our allie!

i thank you for your time a patient’s thank you and goodnight

  • 370 FatmanJoe // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:11 PM

    Tom

I agree whole heartedly. I believe that Pardew’s position has been strengthened since Joe arrived and the conspiracy theorist inside me says that’s why Joe was brought in. Purely deflect from Pardew. And Joe has been brilliant at doing that.

  • 371 TorqToon // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:11 PM

    Ok John.

Its fairly clear you just want to argue and fight. With me, with low fell, with anybody who will engage with you.

Im not going to engage with you. I won’t read or respond to your posts, and if you do the same, we should manage to avoid eachother fairly successfully.

  • 372 SeanNufc87 // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:11 PM

    Torq

Are you saying theres something wrong with Sunderlands methods of jamming boddies into the cracks who all speak different languages, never play together and alienating your current players by fining them as often as possible?… Shame on you

I think we can all agree on one thing, regardless of what side of the fence you sit, at least we aint Sunderland.

  • 373 TorqToon // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:13 PM

Tom – You will have to speak to Ibiza mate!

He is the gatekeeper and CEO of the ITK ministry !

  • 374 GeordieTwo // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:13 PM

So Wolfsburg are interested in Bent now. A little more competition for us then? Hurry home Joe if you really want this lad. Does Joe have a smart phone or a tin can and a string?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2359768/Newcastle-face-competition-Darren-Bent-Wolfsburg.html

  • 375 Toon_Tom // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:13 PM

Mr Tudor – you speak openly and honestly even tho some see it as a pessimistic view > I call it a realist.

So, honestly, on that old sheet of paper, our starting 11 – you must admit that not only is it the best team since the 90′s era of Ginola, Lee, Beardo, Clark, Shearer, Big Les, Pav etc etc etc – it is probably/potentially one of the strongest line ups in the PL?

I know tactics/depth/set up/manager/dof/owner etc etc etc must be taken in to consideration – but forget about that and please answer my initial question! :-)

  • 376 foggonridiculous // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:14 PM

    Torq

If I came across as having a go at you then that was not my intention at all and I apologise.

If I’m honest I’ve got an image in my bonce of JT as a cross between a dyed-in-the-wool hairy-arsed Geordie
    AND
    ..Father Jack (from Father Ted)…

but he could just as easily be Gazza’s doppleganger…who knows…?

He was having hilarious banter with OneTony Green a while back about someone lobbing a pie at a stripper in a Geordie club (a bit OFF-topic perhaps)

This blog is almost as erratic as the toon have been ever since I started following them in 1969 (yes it WAS AD)

last point in my previous @344 I put:

    “…unnecessary abuse….”
….got me thinking just when IS abuse necessary?
I’ve made my own head hurt now!

  • 377 Mister Tuff // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:15 PM

I reckon when Looney Joe gets back from his holidays – his office will have been well and truly “fixed up” by Percy.
The changes to the office will include;-
Whoopee cushion on Looney Joes’ seat.
Binoculars left out for Looney Joe to watch the training from his office – but Percy will have put black boot polish on the eyepieces.
Door handle that pulls off from the inside.

  • 378 FatmanJoe // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:15 PM

G2 – a story put out by Villa possibly to get Bent off their books as soon as poss. There’s no quotes or anything tho so probably just the dailyfail.co.uk spouting more BS.

  • 379 Joe Blog // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:16 PM

Woohoo, John Tudor’s gone (probably hasn’t). For someone who “doesn’t care what people think about him.”, he sure does bleat on like a sensitive little petal.

  • 380 sparky55 // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:16 PM

    toon_tom@368

I’m not so sure all the players do like him and that I think will be bourne out by those that leave. Cabs will be first and I think a couple more surprises to follow…but the thought of that doesn’t worry or upset me because we have a good squad and I strongly believe the owner will reinvest and replace / strengthen the squad.

Pardew in my opinion is so out of his depth it’s embarrassing and his removal will be the catalyst to much better things including improving our ability to attract the type of players we want at the club and who want to play for proper footballing team

  • 381 John Tudor // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:18 PM

no torq i do not wish to fight as i have said i respect others constructive comments as is my right but to be slaughtered instantly for no reason i draw a line and to to be chided in such away is downright despicable underhand and low i will of course still read your ravings on how right you are and how wrong similar people to me view it but neither will win .i have said all along if you don’t like it comment but do not belittle the blogger

  • 382 TorqToon // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:20 PM

Foggon – Not at all mate! I took no offense to that. And I tried to talk to John frankly, but to no avail.

John hasn’t offended me, in the slightest. I just think sometimes people on here (they know who they are) would be quite glad to see us fail, in order to have their point proven.

No matter how much I despise people associated with the club, I would never take pleasure in seeing us struggle and drop down.

I’ve lived and been brought up in Newcastle. A one club town…it’s in the blood.

Even though working abroad makes my affiliation less real (apparently!) :-)

  • 383 Toon_Tom // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:20 PM

Thank you kindly Torq – when Ibiza gets out of the San Antonio clubs in a few hours, out of his mind on powder and euphoric capsules, I shall ask if I can enter your mysterious world ;-)

I am glad people have stopped making sly remarks. It is in human nature to disagree, cause controversy and debate – however personal jibes and insults should not be handed out. We are all part of the Nufc community and all wish for the same thing (entertaining football, not MA out) ;) so let’s sometimes simply agree to disagree without getting all personal.

    You bunch of f’ing dikHe@ds ;-)

  • 384 TorqToon // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:22 PM

    Much appreciated, Tudor

  • 385 GeordieTwo // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:22 PM

You’re probably right FatmanJoe @378. Have we really bid for Bent? I can’t really find any evidence despite Pardew saying he is on our list of strikers. Is this just wishful thinking by Pardew or is he attempting to disguise our real targets (if Joe actually has any)?

  • 386 croftus5678 // Jul 11, 2013 at 9:51 PM

with the risk of bringing this blog back onto football ^^

the players we are linked with in sinclair/remy/bent if we singed all 3 i think would be a huge boost and plug the weak links.

this keeper could prove ambitious also instead of the “thats it krull’s going” as if we in the same respect as a quality keeper getting used to the prem before he has to take over for injury ect.

  • 387 jimmysmith // Jul 11, 2013 at 11:25 PM

Might have to accept that Ashley will very likely continue to make howlers alongside his desire to gradually build a top 6 side. Seems as if he’s angry enough to fall out with Llambias, then the only thing saving Pards is his 8 year contract and that Kinnears appointment was an emotional impulsive one to some degree.

One step forward, one step back, two steps forward, one back and so it goes on.
