Directors of Football are responsible for all the transfers into and out of a club, and are not very often interviewed, and the manager is the face of the club to the public and to the fans.
Joe Kinnear – can he be diplomatic?
And that’s how we’d like it to be at Newcastle, with Joe Kinnear in his new role of Director of Football, and Joe will be at his new desk at the Benton Training grounds this morning.
So it will be interesting to see what happens this week, as Joe tries to bring in some players to Newcastle and break our duck as being the only Premier League club who haven’t yet signed a senior player this summer.
We suppose it would be OK if Joe gives an interview to say nufcTV, if only to try to recover from the disastrous interview he gave to talkSPORT before he was even officially appointed into the position.
But that didn’t stop Joe from spilling the beans, or saying that Derek LLambias would be resigning, which turned out to be true.
But we cannot have Joe hogging the limelight at Newcastle, because that will cause too many problems – and it’s not as if Joe is a skilled person at giving interviews.
So if we don’t hear a peep out of Joe all week – we should probably take that as good news, and hope it continues.
We cannot stand too many more of his outlandish and inaccurate statements which bring bad publicity to both him and Newcastle United, the club he now represents.
Here’s hoping Joe can show some restraint and some diplomacy – amd keep quiet.
