Newcastle Expect First Signing By The Weekend

With the excellent display last night from some of you youngsters and fringe players at Motherwell, the spirits have been lifted a little on Tyneside, and they will be lifted even further if Joe Kinnear can bring in our first signing by the weekend.

Joe Kinnear – moving in for Darren bent?

Things must be going on behind the scenes on the transfer front, because Alan Pardew says he’s expecting a signing while the team is in Portugal for the next week, at a training camp at the Braga SC facilities.

This is what Alan told the press last night:

“I would expect to be down the road with a transfer when we are in Portugal. I am hoping that Joe and Lee Charnley, the club Secretary get something over the line.”

And it’s been good that Joe Kinnear has been quiet since he’s been on Tyneside since Monday.

There should be very little said in the press by a Director of Football, so fingers crossed that things have gone well for two days (wow), since Joe has been doing his job in Newcastle – we hope it stays that way and Joe keeps on the quiet side.

And Kinnear stayed in Newcastle last night in a bid to finalize a deal with Aston Villa for striker Darren Bent, but we wonder if the fee and his wages will be within the range that Newcastle are willing to offer?

We think Darren would be a good acquisition, because he’s a natural goal-scorer, but we also need a younger striker brought in this summer, and if that’s Loic Remy so be it, even though he turned us down in January.

It does seem that Bent is who Newcastle want to bring in this week, so we hope we can be successful, but why we are also not bidding for Loic Remy at the same time?

Newcastle will be taking the full first team squad to Portugal today, and it will include Senegal striker Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye.

We hope that Cisse can quickly work out the problem of being unwilling to wear the Wonga logo on his shirt – that’s a problem that has to be solved rather quickly this week.

Blah Blah Blah, we heard exactly the same stuff about having one “over the line” before Joe went on holiday. Less chit chat, more action.

I still cannot understand why it has taken us so long to get someone in, that’s supposing we actually sign someone this weekend – no guarantees !

I keep hoping JFK had done his ‘signings’ before his ’18-30′ holiday in Ibiza and they were just waiting to be rubber stamped when he returns all tanned for HIS press conference showing his skills of buying players. Lets face it JFK wont miss out on the glory !

    imo

Good going Joe, a whole 48 hours keeping your mouth shut. Is it time to start believing in miracles?

Im not over excited about this Bent signing to be honest..

    It’s a mediocre signing.

Give me something to get excited about. We have plenty money to play with.

ashley has banked the sky money and all the season ticket sales, do you think were going to sign 1 or maybe 2 or 3 players I dont think so myself the man has no ambition at all for our club and he never has had any all he wants is free advertisment for his companies and a good supply of money coming in thats it

Good morning all and aren’t we being a wee bit harsh on Signor Kineari?

Lilongwe, Bambams, Ibiza, your impatience is most unsage-like and you surely understand that Guisseppi’s had much to do since he joined us.

The middle-east is in turmoil, the NHS needs his commitment and now North Korea’s in the spotlight having supposedly been caught with missile parts on one of its ships.

Be fair, in the two days he’s dedicated to Newcastle United, our world-renowned DoF will have…. will have… er….

Now, he’s identified his priorities and found his hip flask, we’ll see some action: ah, find a player to shut the fans up. But Pardew’s off to Portugal for a holiday, he’ll soon put a stop to this swanning about the countryside with the players, so how’s his chance to establish himself in his critics’ eyes. A super-signing’s what’s needed, well an attempt at getting one anyway!

Danny Bent! Bingo! Get him and Sgr Kinneari’s cracked it then, a well deserved holiday after a rollercoaster of a pre-season!!

We’re more likely to be announcing the sale of Cabaye than that of someone coming in.

Notice I didn’t say a decent player coming in as I honestly doubt whether JoKe has the smarts to be able to find such a player.

All of our premiership rivals are strengthening their squads whilst we are touring the discount stores.

Ashley obviously hasn’t learnt anything from the debacle last summer. We could find ourselves at the wrong end of the table by January and Ashley will have to pay over the odds for mediocre players in the transfer window.

OMG I’m tired of this moaning!!!

As far as I can see Ashley have made the right choices all the way mostly.
Some windows passing by without a striker. but who cares really as long as we are progressing, and Ashley seems to still be learning footballing business.

As a matter of fact I dont think we need more than a backup CB and a couple of strikers.

There is always another season ahead… believe in Ashley for once!

He gets his advertising money by making controversial decisions like with Kinnear – I think thats a PR-stunt for sure, and thats all it was.

    HWTL!

Looks like Cisse is on his way out. He has refused to go on the tour to Portugal (or been dropped, whichever way you look at it). At this rate we’ll be starting the season with Campbell up front on his own.
