Things are not too great at Newcastle at the moment, with the lack of new players coming through the door this summer, and the Cisse – Wonga affair looking more than a little serious at the moment.
Paul Dummett – the star man at Motherwell
But as we saw on Tuesday night, Newcastle results can start to turn things around at the club, and certainly we were a little surprised the lads looked so good at Motherwell.
Yes, we know that pre-season results don’t usually mean too much, but a win is a win, and wins lift the spirits of Newcastle fans, whoever we beat, as we saw after the lads’ fine display in Scotland.
It will only take a couple of wins and a couple of good displays in Portugal for things to start looking a lot better at Newcastle, by the time the lads return next Wednesday.
And the positive thing on Tuesday night was that two youngsters took the honors with both Haris Vuckic and local lad Paul Dummett playing very well, and manager Alan Pardew thought  Haris Vuckic was just great on his return from his serious ACL knee injury.
And Pardew thought that Paul Dummett was the Man of the Match, and the local lad has also been impressing in training, and may be kept on Tyneside for next season, if his good form continues this summer.
We were in a much worse position four years ago after our relegation, when the newspapers were predicting we would drop down the leagues just like Leeds United had done previously.
But that didn’t happen and by the end of August things were looking good, and we had won five of our first six games and drew the other one at West Brom, under interim manager Chris Hughton – and the rest is history – very good history.
So the same thing can happen this summer, and all Newcastle need to do is keep winning and the current negativity can be washed away.
It’s simple when you get really down to it – just keep winning. 😀
Wonder how Joe Kinnear’s doing on the transfer front?

Get rid of Cisse, he is only an employee.
Get some talent in asap, that is what you are paid for Kinear.
Make sure the manager does not play hoof ball, it is your club he is destroying Mr Ashley and this boring play is reducing the clubs income from ticket sales and advertising.

Comment #43If we sign Remy & Nacer Chadli (LW) I’d be happy with summer business. Cissé, Remy, Gouffran, Campbell, Ameobi (if he stays, doesn’t matter if he does not) & maybe Vuckic too if stretched would be a good for forward options. Chadli would provide us with the LW we so very need to replace hapless, defensive Jonas.
Possible side(s):
Krul;
Debuchy/Santon, Mbiwa/Saylor, Coloccini, Santon/Haidara;
Sissoko, Cabaye/Anita/Tioté;
Ben Arfa/Gouffran, Cabaye/Marveaux/Vuckic, Chadli/Remy;
Cissé/Gouffran/Remy
We can only dream boys

Comment #44Wolfshead, that was a strange comment. To compare us with Arsenal, who are looking to pay about 30 mill for a striker, and got 4th last season, is pointless. Anyway, their set up is so far ahead of ours, and they don’t have Joke….

Ed and all of us wonder how JFK’s getting on in the transfer market? I expect he is too – he must be wondering what he’s talked himself into!
Yes Charlie, not even the courtesy of a senior presence in Scotland. Terrible behaviour!

Comment #51Munster,
Perhaps it’s a Senegalese thing as Ba couldn’t wait to move on to more money.
For all Jonas’ perceived playing faults and Colo’s family troubles I have a much greater respect for our two Argentinians who have been very loyal to the club.

Comment #64I don’t blame Cisse if he now wants to leave Newcastle. For the first half of last season he was played on the wing and then when he returned to his preferred position he had to put up with with long ball tactics, which totally goes against his style of play. He never once moaned and has always said how much he loves the fans and the club. Now it seems a lot of fans are turning against him over the Wonga issue. Personally I think it’s a disgrace that we are being sponsored by a payday lending company and highlights the lack of credibility and morals at the club. A lot of media outlets have reported that Cisse would be happy to play for Newcastle but he wants a logo of a charity on his shirt instead of Wonga’s. if this is true, as fans we should back him to the the hilt. Also for all the fans that keep comparing Wonga to Virgin, there is a massive different between a payday lending company and a bank. I am sick and tired of Newcastle’s image being dragged through the mug by this current ownership and I am disappointed that so many fans on here are backing Wonga instead of our top striker.

Some of the best players in the world may not have great pace but we don’t have any of the best players in the world so whats your point???
And if you think that pace isn’t half it’s cracked up to be go tell that to any manager in the game today and see their reaction

Comment #70How the hell can you give Ashley stick for appointing Wonga,
Nothing wrong with Wonga,we live in a western world which is a completely different culture to our muslim brothers.
If you dont like it ,lump it .
We are not the only club who has Wonga as a sponsor so whats all the fuss about.
Since I was a child ,and now im in my 50s there has been and still is the Provi and I have known a few families who have relied on that service.
That’s the way of the world in the west!

Comment #75Players with pace? Like Beckham,Scholes,Lampard….
I’d prefer to have players with technical ability over out and out pace.
Tbf, i imagine that Jack was suggesting players that have BOTH pace and ability.
Regarding WONGA, i’d be surprised if that was MA’s decision. That was Derek’s job wasn’t it?

Comment #76Afternoon Lads,
If you have read any of my posts before a close colleague of mine at work has good contact with someone who is related to a member very high at the club who unfortunately i can not name due to my job. When my colleague meets him he tends to come back and tell me what was said as i live in London and the only Toon fan in the office.
He met him on Friday and mentioned a man called “Mick Harford” was going to be brought in over the weekend just gone as an Enforcer for JK. Take from this what you will as i am only 21 this name didn’t ring a bell until i searched him.
I asked about the JK saga and this is what got me, take from this what you will but MA 100% brought in JK in order to have Pardew resign which was confirmed from his own gob. In Pardew signing the new contract he does have a clause inside where he is paid for the whole contract and which ever amount that is MA is by any means trying to get him gone. My colleague had no idea of replacement manager though.
Also DL did not resign he was fired, MA grew sick of his lack of dignity and c*ck ups and was told he was fired.
If you have any questions within limit feel free to ask, like i said i’m just passing on what i have heard and from meeting this person once he is a very good contact.

Comment #78i don’t agree with the whole ‘Bad Decision’ by Ashley over the Wonga deal
You can’t make a financial sponsorship deal based on certain players being at the club at that point in time….thats ridiculous.
Funny how Tiote and Sissoko have no issues.
This has nothing to do with religion, its being used as an excuse to leave.
To be honest loosing Cisse is not that big a deal.
He has no positional sense on the pitch, doesn’t do the basics for a striker.
Hes another luxury player and if he doesn’t want to be here (and just because his agent says otherwise, thats just paying lip service to ther fans) move him on….same goes for Cabaye.
Had enough of sulking players.
