NUFC Fans United Arrange Another Meeting With Newcastle Officials

1:26 pm, Friday, July 19th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 220 Comments

The Newcastle United fan organization NUFC Fans United have arranged another meeting with Newcastle officials to discuss some of the questions the fans have.

joe kinnear close-up red cheeks

Joe Kinnear – may be he will attend the meeting

The first meeting was held last month on June 23rd, and there were various questions asked – but the meting got a little rowdy and the plan this time is that questions will be presented to the Newcastle officials at the meeting.

The meeting will once again be held at The Labour Club at 11 Leazes Park Rd, NE1 4PF, and it’s from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm and Newcastle have been invited to send a representative to the meeting, but exactly who will attend is not yet known.

Hey, maybe it will be Joe Kinnear?

This is what NFC Fans United are saying about the meeting a week on Wednesday:

“It will be an open meeting, but following on from last month’s rather boisterous do, there will be no open floor – only questions and statements submitted in advance. It would be good to see as many fans there as possible, and if you have any agenda items to submit, please send them to”

At the last meeting Media Relations manager Wendy Taylor and the new Supporter Liaison Officer Lee Marshall attended on behalf of the club.

It’s very good that this fan organization is trying to open up the communication lines with the club, because that’s exactly what’s needed at the moment, and has been since Mike Ashley bought the club, so if you have any questions (or statements),  please sent them to NUFC Fans United at

lets hope we can get some answers on transfers

  • 2 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:36 PM

i’m of the opinion that whilst the debt was taken over it just moved around and it is getting larger never reducing hey don’t shoot me.doesn’t this mean ashley will be here to the death and we will owe him billions. i merely state thing as they way i see it ,judge for yourselves 3 or 4 years down the line. i for one am not happy.
but the detractors will slag me time will tell
    John Tudor @ 26
I wonder why you think any of us owe or will owe Mashley any money ever. We are not shareholders. It is his toy therefore his profit or loss. If he makes stupid decisions that lose money, it’s his money. I’m sure he will sell when it suits.

i wonder why you have read something which i have not posted ,is it me or are you wrong.
    please read it again

So you don’t want big offers accepted for our players but you argue Ashley shouldn’t invest anymore of his own money into the club whilst also arguing the club is running at a loss
So where are we supposed to magically pull finds from?
    Can’t have it both ways

Wow lee Ryder with a breaking exclusive 24 hours after the Lyon president confirmed it!!!

The old argument of leeds n pompey n wolves n blackburn n middlesboro should not be forgot about, they are sunk, their fans havnt to much to look forward to, its been said of course it has, MA makes hard to take decisions we know that but he does it in the best interesta of his business, unpopular decisions he is not afraid of, the fella will do what he thinks best, we are still building as a club, its not the end of the world we arnt busted. Just remember it could always be worse, pompey v mansfield sounds mouthwatering dosnt it ?!?!?!

No offence mate but why the hell do people assume because fans want to see ambition that were going to “do a Leeds”
    That is absolute BS
No one is saying run out and spend £70 million each window, no one is screaming for marquee signings but sensible investment like the academy and sensible squad strengthening
Do you really think we can’t invest a few million this window? Heaven forbid we ” do a Swansea”

    Sir toon
Nothing like a bit of wild speculation
How do you know cisse doesn’t want out

There’s no reason we can’t invest it’s ridiculous

we will owe as in nufc will owe
i have already stated he will get none of my money, others on here have said much the same
ok so i don’t come across like people on here don’t berate me for that

  • 6 SeanNufc87 // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:41 PM

So if we sign Gomis what are you all going to complain about then? Seems to be a lot of hate for aspects of the club you supposedly love.

  • 7 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:42 PM

no winger for starters and it still is an if

  • 8 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:43 PM

exaclty….i fully understand we cant go out and spend like city, chelsea and man utd

but why cant we go for it like spurs? swansea? west ham?

  • 9 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:43 PM

hear hear tads top post today

  • 10 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:45 PM

I think the fat man has showed he will spend, but it’s always when were on the back foot, delaying deals so the fee goes down blow up massively on his face was hoping he’d learnt from his mistakes

  • 11 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:47 PM

i just think a club what makes as much as we do in tv deals and then a record club deal with wonga…followed by around 50/60mil in tickets sales (£20 x 25 x19) should be making more inroads into players in the transfer window.

  • 12 kevymartins // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:48 PM

    Listen to pards lol

  • 13 sirtoongospel // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:49 PM

TADS, I know as well as most the situation with him. He doesn’t want to leave.

  • 14 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:49 PM

well by all accounts he saved 0.5-1mil on debuchy…is that really worth it in the grand scheme of things? i dont think so.

i dont mind if we sold players…spurs keep selling their big players…berbatov, keane, modric, carrick etc….they just invest well and at the right time. We need to do the same.

  • 15 kevymartins // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:49 PM

Shola flattens someone and all you hear is pards ”play on” haha

  • 16 clinath@ed // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:50 PM

TADS, you only invest when you plan to be there to reap the benefits…….just a thought.

  • 17 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:50 PM

Cheers just think there are too many double standards in regards to MA’s policy by supporters
Some seem more keen on the books others like myself couldn’t care less about the books, in fact how will the accounts ever improve whilst MA continues to make bizarre appointments and hold out on transfers all of which emulates itself in to the form of the complete s**t we had to watch last season
52,000 through the gates, hundreds of thousands more world wide most of them follow football for there love of football not mathematics

  • 20 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:53 PM

thanks tads yes, i see no end to the debt it will only rise to ashleys benefit and not to the clubs. or you or i

  • 21 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:53 PM

    We can but hope!

    Sir Toon
Will have to take your word on that
I’ve heard demba wanted a fair contract not one riddled with goal bonuses he couldn’t achieve from the wing and get out clauses
Also heard he was a very popular lad and is still in contact with most the team especially cabaye

  • 22 toon kk // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:54 PM

When JK first got his job he said he could do a great job for the club by giving the fans what we deserve. I wonder what he meant?

  • 23 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:55 PM

Why? Because we want to see progression? Or ambition? Or not go into the season with only one CF who’s used as a CF?

  • 24 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:56 PM

we could not afford a lolly it was a ball bearing from Vickers we would not dare to bawl and scream for else we got a bat with the brush.
    my what a sweeping statement

  • 25 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:57 PM

Goofy will on be played as a CF next season if we invest in width, if we don’t then he will still be used wide and we still need a CF
Either way you look at it investment is needed that’s there for all to see its got nout to do with wanting mega bucks spent

  • 26 NUFC_LEAZES END // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:58 PM

    Hopefully true

  • 27 Rooster // Jul 19, 2013 at 1:59 PM

Tads, with respect tje window isnt finished, if the club was run wrong then like those others we would be knackered, it is run very well from within the restraints of the club at this moment, the more yoy build the mire you can spend, its easy to say just pump another 70 million and we are getting near sorted, hes said many times NUfC is being run within itself, go outside of that and it could go backwards, with dept to follow , no guarantees, we just cant do what the top 4/6 are doing transfer wise at thus moment, we all want purples ( ouch) just be Wee bit tgankful that we are healthy Nd remember its MA’s money not financed like the old days, we now go and buy players with cash, ten in fact in the last 13 months. U nay think its BS i dont, itsgrowinas a business and a football club. Your opinion taken on board, but its not mine.

  • 28 Yohan Kebab // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM

i think we will see bafetimbi gomis come in, and another striker (bent?), and we will try to keep our remaining players and that will be our business done, i wouldnt be too saddened by that though we do need a winger

  • 29 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM

  • 30 SeanNufc87 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:01 PM

The club has to pay for other things mate, im not foolish enough to say we don’t have money im saying the money we have will be spent. save the anger for sep 2nd

  • 31 clinath@ed // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:01 PM

I believe MA invests in the team when he feel he has to,,,,not when the rest of us would suggest he should do. Hence last summers debacle, January’s panic and the current situation. I sadly believe we will buy no-one this summer….he’ll play “wait and see” and react next January if necessary.

  • 32 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:01 PM

is it not the younger generation with that attitude. i myself feared my parents you on the other hand may well have had a nanny

  • 33 croftus5678 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:01 PM

personally i would take gomis think he’s a very good player as it is and will improve our team without a doubt.
players of his physique tend to do well in the prem also i.e. lukaku/benteke not saying that gomis is near as good but that they tend to be better in the prem.

  • 34 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:02 PM

    laurnt robert

just feel that if the club is bringing in that much money they should return the favour to the fans who fund them.

  • 35 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:03 PM

respect to the stoke owners of their club

  • 36 croftus5678 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:04 PM

    @25 tds

if goofy is played as a striker “if” i think gomis would do it for me if we keep cisse ! cisse/gomis/goofy/cambell seems a pretty good bet to me but imo we need a left winger for sure.

  • 37 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:07 PM

i will judge the window on september 2nd…ideally players in early but nothing major if they come in end of august.

I appreciate there are costs, maintenance, travel, wages, scouting, etc etc…so not all that is for transfers…..but my point was mainly we get the same tv money (more as we are on tv more) than swansea/westham…but we will have bigger tickets sales and merchandise that those so not sure how they now outspend us…surely they arent just racking up huge debts? or maybe they are…i just cant see us being the only club doing things right/safe and playing by the rules.

  • 38 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:07 PM

But that’s not my opinion in the slightest
I said no one is asking for £70 mil to be pumped in but proper and sensible investment just like every single top flight team in any top flight league in the world has to do when needed to maintain there top flight status
I never said do what the top 4 do I said the likes of west ham Swansea Norwich the scum villa Fulham all do and strengthen as appropriate
Never once did I say that all signings had to be “purples” there is such thing as squad depth
The debt is either being paid off by the new sponsorship deal or extra TV revenue, if its not then it should be available to the club no?
But yet the debt hovers as the same
And yeah the argument that if we spend we will do a Leeds is complete and utter BS

  • 39 oldbobaycliffe // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:08 PM

under the last sky deal every position was worth £800,000 in the league so the difference between finishing 5th and 16th last season meant our revenue was down nearly does anyone know how much it will be this season

  • 40 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:10 PM

TADS the penny is still in the air for some ,i get the jist of it. .maybe in time…….

  • 41 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:13 PM

In my opinion we dont have one single out and out winger in the squad that is good enough.
HBA, Marv both play better through the middle.
    Jonas is past it.
    Fergy isnt good enough.
    Obertan is shite.

We should bring in Gomis and 2 wingers. Then get rid of some of the shit. And sell HBA if the price is right – he hardly plays.

  • 42 one Tony Green // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:13 PM

Sad to see Brad Inman leaving Newcastle it will be our loss

  • 43 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:13 PM

Your right the window is still open and there’s plenty of time to strengthen perhaps its just cynicism from having this same discussion last window!
All the same AP stated he wanted business done early as to get a full pre season for the squad to gel, it hasn’t happened
I don’t know but it just feels like we’re heading into this season with the same situation of the manager wanting, the owner not backing his wishes and a general all round bad vibe around the club with cisse/ wonga hanging over it all

  • 44 Ben3arfa // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:14 PM

I dont get how people are saying Gomis is a bad player????

He scored 20 goals in 40 games last season , thats every other game of which were champions league games!!

Would you rather have him or an overrated has-been like Darren Bent , who hardly even played last season and will probably take some time to get back in shape

  • 45 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:15 PM

we are really lacking in wide areas…totally agree. Ben arfa can do a job on the right but he is much better centrally as he has options all around him.

i think a good striker and 2 wide players/wide strikers is what we need.

anything else is just to add depth.

  • 46 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Has he left? Ah man that’s a shame cracking prospect that lad

Like I said mate its all dependant on whether or not we actually strengthen in the key areas

  • 47 clinath@ed // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:17 PM

TADS just beat me to it….we had this discussion last year, everyone saying “its early, wait and see…..”

  • 48 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:17 PM

i don’t know anything about gomis really so not bothered either way if we get him.

i just dont think it’s him or bent…people want better players.

liverpool spent 22mil on suarez…wish we could do something similar and get a true world class striker in.

  • 49 croftus5678 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:19 PM

    @41 tinman

without arfa we are like totenham without bale or manu without rooney ! its not that replacing him wouldnt make the team stronger as it prob would but he’s the type of player that is great to watch and when he does that 40 yard run and puts the ball in the net from 30 yards out (even if only once a season) you can turn to your mates with a big smile on your face and remember it all season.

if we lost him imo we would need another entertainer.

  • 50 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:22 PM

Transfer, yeah totally agree. Would love us to have someone who uses raw pace to get to the byline and get some crosses in.
If we are to buy Gomis it is even more important we get some good wide players to suit his preferred type of service.

Think sending Haidara out on loan and giving Dummet the chance to push Santon this season is also a good idea.

  • 51 John Tudor // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:22 PM

croftus we have one in pardew do we not i am certainly entertained by his antics

  • 52 richyg01 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:25 PM

NUFC now ‘In Talks’ with Gomis, that true?

  • 53 LooneyToon41 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:25 PM

@48 Sage. I agree mate. I’d love to see us spending £20-25m on a class signing.
Reality is however, that when we finshed 5th in the Premier league, our Total Revenues were only £93m. So one bad season later, but new TV deal and Wonga sponsorship, plus £14m(??) net spend in January 2013, suggests that there’s not a whole lot of money in the kitty.
Unless of course MA wants to throw extra ££’s in….. which i think we all doubt.

  • 54 croftus5678 // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:26 PM

    @51 jt

  • 55 Indian Magpie // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:27 PM

Apparently NUFC were in for Mario Gomez, Until, Joe Kinnear stepped in and Pronounced him as Gomis. There you go!

  • 56 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:28 PM

When you put it like that Croftus, your probably right. But if we have to sacrifice someone to bring in 2 or 3 others I would look first to HBA and 2nd to Kebab. Obviously I wouldnt want to sell either of them and definitely not both of them, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices to move forwards.

Wingers are my favourite players and we dont have any… I think Robert would have thrived in the system we are currently playing, would love a LW similar to him.

  • 57 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:28 PM

Give it a break, the club’s accounts are subject to audit both during and at the end of each financial year and as sure as god made little apples, Ashley is not going to risk being struck of as a director for the sake of a few quid in grand scale of things.

Give it a rest, it’s been done to death….

Does ever decreasing circles come to mind?

  • 67 toon kk // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:35 PM

I’m looking forward to next season but let’s hope we’ve strengthened by then, because last season became an embarrassment we played the worst football in the premier league. It was a case of I wonder what we’ll get beat by.
If MA and his board can’t see we need new players expect more of the same.

  • 68 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:35 PM

Can’t blame the lad then tbh, where’s the point in signing a one year contract then getting shipped out in loan?

Not really sure how he’ll fit into our formation unless Cisse leaves. Would have preferred a speedy forward like Remy who can play out wide as part of a front three. I guess we’re after him because they really need the money rather than he would be the best possible choice for us.

Lets all face it here, under Ashley we will never EVER spend more than 12mil max. on a single player . So why lie to yourself and hope we will sign players well worth 15m .

Gomis is a cheaper Bony, in fact Swansea wanted to sign him earlier this summer but he turned them down

Couple of points – that have not really been picked up – Percy’s interviews when he kept on mentioning his new buzz word -“conditioning”. I assume because of the new fitness regime. Then we hear from the players that the training has been harder than previous training. This to me begs the question if these guys were not being trained up to “super fit” status previously what the hell have they been doing -who has been responsible for the fitness/training regime. Whoever it is should be out the door -pronto.
Other point -clearly some contributors have not got their heads around the Cisse/Wonga issues -following a great post yesterday by one of the lads I feel I now nderstand the issues better -clearly one or two on here really should refrain from commenting further with previous input such as -he does not do Ramadan – he was eating a sandwich. Comments from the pit of the knowledge base barrel.

    Gomis = 0.35 Goals/Game Or 1 Goal every 2.8 Games.

Lets compare to the players we have:

    Cisse = 0.43 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 2.3 Games.
    Goofy = 0.2 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 5 Games.
    Shola = 0.2 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 4.8 Games.

    Compared to what we lost/missed:

    Ba = 0.48 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 2 Games.
    PEA = 0.3 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 3.3 Games.
    Bony = 0.5 Goals/Game OR 1 Goal every 1.9 Games.

Macas, competition for place. Very important to keep your strikers hungry. Just hope Pardew doesnt try to play one of them on the wing 😉

  • 89 Rooster // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:56 PM

Tads, we will agree tpo digger, I want us to spend, and I still think we will, last year set us back abit those players who are very well thought of need to come out fighting and stay fighting, Saylor always to let his mouth go during the season, well he and the rest have to back it up.

We arnt ever going to get our way with the owner are we, he has a way of doing things, they say you wont make a profit out of football, he will, but we will still get in good players in my opinion, our club will still grow, a few more electric shocks along the way no doubt, but if he feels that’s the way forward tyhen I will go with it even if I am not to keen ie Pardew or JK

Gomis would be a great signing for us, gomis ben arfa cisse marv gouffran cabaye could and will cause havoc, just let us het another decent winger in to supply as well, it might not be two bad a season you know im still really looking forward to it even now with no signings on the table. as of 14.55 19/07/2013!

  • 90 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:56 PM

football clubs can’t be sucessful and ran like a tradition retail business…different entirely.

same as you can’t run a bank like a retail business …. each business as its own ways of working.

  • 91 Macas // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:59 PM

Transfer Sage / Tinman – That’s what I’m hoping, just not sure this lad would sign just to be an option from the bench. Would love us to get Sinclair and Remy as well, would be happy with that.

  • 92 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 2:59 PM

I think people read too much into these career long goal/game ratios.
How many of those were sub appearances?
What was the level of opposition?
Were those goals scored recently or did they score all the time years ago?
Were they played out of position?
How many chances did team mates set up for them?
    Were they assigned penalty taker?

Yeah it gives a decent overview, but its far from accurate.

  • 93 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:00 PM

Macas, maybe he thinks he is better than Cisse so doesnt expect to be on the bench at all? We’ll see. Always other options aint there!

  • 94 Transfer Sage // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:01 PM

things could be much worse with the club so i can’t complain too much.

i wouldnt mind if it was like an everton owner who physically says there is no money to spend.

i just get annoyed that we dont spend and seem to be used like a massive billboard for his tacky company.

  • 95 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:01 PM

  • 97 roe997 // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:04 PM

If you watch some of the goals gomis scored i doubt he would do same in prem.some of the defending is shocking.same with bony.

  • 98 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:05 PM

Rooster, I expect to see a marked improvement in our team when Sissoko, Gouffran, Mbiwa and Debuchy are all properly settled in. Have been properly examined by our staff. And are subsequently utilised correctly!

We only seen flashes of what each of those players could do for us. Hopefully we will bring in one or two or three more.

My one worry is still Pardew. To say I was getting extremely frustrated last season is an understatement. One good season, one bad season, lets see if he does well or crashes and burns!

  • 99 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:05 PM

It’s not the first time the fitness levels of the squad have been questioned, last season we had the stamina of a pub team rather than PL

As debated many times where was the dietician/ sports science coach to ensure returning players were coming back fully fit rather than frankly tubby and out of shape?
Think there’s still much needed work to be done behind the scenes

  • 100 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:07 PM

John Tudor, I like the fact that he has a decent record in Europe. I think a lot of those would be Champions league as well.
I agree, recent form is more important.

  • 101 Tinman // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:09 PM

tads, that was one of the only things I liked about Fat Sam. He took fitness and conditioning very seriously. Shame he has poor management skills and styles!

  • 102 Mister Tuff // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:17 PM

tads – my point was the comparison that is being drawn against last year -I had assumed (obviously wrongly) that players would be absolutely super fit – to the point that there could be no further potential increase in their fitness/stamina levels. Having “fitter” players in a “lesser” team can sometimes be a match against those more skillful but less fit. If the new regime can get improvements -excellent -but it begs the question -should not a regime have previously existed to get the max out of the players -clearly somebody has not been up to speed (no pun intended).

  • 103 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:22 PM

    On about fitness.
First weekend back at the beginning of July on of the squad players told some of the lads that they had a bollicking and had to do 2 -2 hour sessions on the Saturday and the Sunday.
Someone or something must of woken the top brass/management about the players fitness between end of season and the start of training

  • 106 Rooster // Jul 19, 2013 at 3:31 PM

Sage, as i said MA gas always said the club is building within itself, more cash comin in and i do believe we will spend, Everton are a funny one arnt they, they always claim hard up? Are people still whinging about investment?

The extra TV revenue should mean that we can at least sign a striker and another attacking player. The players that are leaving should also be replaced in the first team with young hungry players, either from our youth team or bought in.

Buying a couple of first team players plus a few youth players isn’t going to make us “do a Leeds”. We’d be at risk of doing that if we stumped up the funds to have a real proper go at 4th place. We’d be looking at £50M+ on transfers for something like that and huge wages too. That’s something we can’t afford. Sensible purchases in areas we need to strengthen to ensure we get top 8 we can afford…

  • 153 Ibizatoon // Jul 19, 2013 at 4:44 PM

Dok…I’m glad it was received well. One of the most insulting things I believe you can call someone is normal. How rude 🙂

Do people actually want Cisse gone or is it the hope that by selling we may actually spend?

I know he can be a frustrating player with his offsides etc, but I would be gutted to see him go. He has shown he is class and even when he wasn’t playing well in a team that wasn’t playing well, he still got vital goals. Sort the midfield out and you get an inform Cisse imo. Don’t see why we would want him gone as far as footballing reasons are concerned.

  • 183 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:06 PM

It’s damn crafty, you know full well I haven’t a clue what that is!

  • 184 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:06 PM

I don’t want us to sell any of our top players unless they want to leave. Why would people rather have money than top proven players?
    Ben Arfa

Why would you want any of those to leave our club? There are others like Haidara, Marv, Goofy that you could add to the list too but haven’t quite proven themselves yet in my eyes.

Then there are first team players that we know can do a job for us, but I wouldn’t mind if we upgraded like Jonas, Saylor, Willo and Ameoba

  • 185 Ibizatoon // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:10 PM

TDS…For me, it is only if the players wants to leave, in which case it’s usually best to move them on, agreed.

Tads…My bad, I forgot what a silly cnut you were there for a second. Gazza only reminded me a little while ago 🙂

    How’s wor catem doing?

  • 186 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:10 PM

Who said they wanted any of those players to leave?
But wasn’t it you saying we had to get used to the sell before we buy policy as there was no money in the kitty a couple of weeks back?

  • 187 Rotonda heights // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:10 PM

Good players possibly leaving, c..p management definitely staying. Could only happen to us: Ash, JFK and Pardew!!

Newcastle have lined up André-Pierre Gignac as a replacement for unsettled striker Papiss Cissé. (Source: L’Équipe)

  • 189 Jail for Ashley // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:11 PM

Describing them as shit last year is being very kind on them, and I’m worried that it will be another struggle if we don’t add a few fresh faces in the next few weeks, ok the new recruits have had a bit more time but it is essentially the same team that lost it’s last three home games 10-0

  • 190 ~Joke-innear~ // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:11 PM

Aye Sazzer, in an ideal world… but if this Wonga issue with Cisse isn’t resolved and Cisse leaves…

  • 191 plana // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:11 PM

The transfer deals might start happening at last.

  • 192 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:11 PM

Where did you read that Inman is off? I wouldn’t say he was a great young player but he looked like he had potential.

As for the youth academy, still no news there. But no news isn’t bad news. From what I understand the decision was deferred from January to the end of she season. That decision would be to either confirm our cat one status or demote us to cat two. The decision has not been made public to my knowledge so I assume it hasn’t happened. So we’re still effectively allowed to operate as cat one until told otherwise.

As for investment, I was actually backing you up on your earlier comment that we can surely easily have a net spend of £10-15M this summer without worrying about it. The extra TV revenue and money saved from players leaving should cover any high wages that are required too.

I heard Carl Cort is a cheaper alternative…

AP has told Portuguese press there has been no bid from #nufc for Rolando

  • 197 WWYCD // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:15 PM

Gomis, Remy and Bent in one window? Cisse staying put would add up to a pretty solid front line tbf

Won’t happen though let’s be honest and would still need more creativity from midfield

  • 198 Ibizatoon // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:17 PM

tads…Are the family understanding about having to say goodbye to their pet for silly money?

  • 199 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:18 PM

That last post was for you too.

And no no no no no. I’ve never ever said that we have to sell before we buy and I really don’t think that’s the case. The main things that I contradict people on are:
    – huge spending sprees that we can afford because MA is a billionaire (irrelevant as it’s the club’s money, not his)
    – overly optimistic transfers like Benteke for £25M (who will either stay at Villa or move to a CL club)
    – failing to understand the wage structure. We’re not going to pay a player £80kpw because then Cabaye, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Sissoko and the rest will want parity
    – assuming that MA is taking loads of money out of the club. When all he’s actually done is take a relatively small amount to pay off the loan he gave us

I’m still very confident that we will sign a top striker (for around £10M) and another attacking player (for around £5M) as well as hopefully 2 or 3 younger players. I mean that lot without any of our top players going.

If that doesn’t happen then I won’t be happy, but I won’t pre-judge this transfer window on the basis of last summer.

  • 200 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:19 PM

Unfortunately we can’t operate as a cat one status because we never had it sadly, someone posted a link to some article that the inspection was underway and concerns had been raised and told to be sorted
Someone posted earlier he’d declined the one year contract and was looking for a new club
He’s the only player not to sign although all were offered pretty poor contracts tbh

  • 201 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:20 PM

What bugs me a little is people saying:
    Sell Cabaye for £25M
    Sell Ben Arfa for £20M
    Sell Cisse for £15M

If we sold all the players that some fans seem to want to sell, we could pay of MA’s loan but we’d be sitting in the championship and the club would still be worth less than he paid for it…

  • 205 viv // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Pardew, does’nt know who is signing anyway the guys a Mushroom, fed shite and kept in the dark. Thats why he is odds on favorite to be the first Premiership manager to be sacked. The bookies are rarely wrong!

  • 206 Rake // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:22 PM

Gomis from what i’v seen which is very little looks like he will link attack and midfield behind Cisse. He seems to have a better ability with his back to goal and can obviously score goals as well. To me we are desperate for a winger someone to beat a man and whip a cross in for Cisse and whom ever will be playing behind him.

  • 207 BandB // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:22 PM

You buy a sports or fashion company the name of which has been associated with quality. You create a bargain bucket version, but retain the logo.
    Sound familiar?
Someone posted recently “Newcastle never has and never will be a big club!”
He didn’t need to mention the dangers of doing a Portsmouth, or urge anyone to LOOK AT THE BOOKS. He didn’t call anyone delusional, or suggest they were off his elite list of sensible posters.
But he did boil down those arguments to their gut essence: “Newcastle never has and never will be a big club.”
    These are the positive people………………

  • 208 Mister Tuff // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:24 PM

rotonda @193 – the word Texican is a correct name for the people who lived in Texas when it was a republic – there were quite a few native Texicans killed at the Alamo fighting Santa Annas’ Mexican army.

  • 210 WWYCD // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:26 PM

Haha won’t happen though mate 4 good strikers player for us under Ashley is 3 too many unless they are all on pay as u play I suppose then he might consider it

  • 211 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:26 PM

My understanding on the academy is that when this was all introduced about a year ago, we were not granted cat one status due to some (unspecified) areas where we were lacking. But we have been allowed to participate in the under 21 league (cat one clubs only) and otherwise act as a cat one club until the decision is finalised. From what I understand we have had a grace period. Then, the decision was supposed to be made in January but that decision was deferred due to reasons that weren’t to do with our club. The decision is supposed to be this summer, so now we’re just waiting to hear.

I can’t find anything online about Inman. Could just be speculation.

  • 212 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:26 PM

    Yeah that bugs me too
Mainly because absolutely nobody outside of NUFC would rate them at any where near that fee

  • 214 Jail for Ashley // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:28 PM

I’m not sure what the situation was with Gouffran being in the EL with Bordeaux and how much it would have cost extra to get him six months earlier, but consider a situation where if Ba refused to play on the left Gouffran would, Ba is in the huff but the team is doing well, Cisse then has a few stinkers and Ba has a few blinders in CCc and EL and gets his place back in the middle, we then have a fired up Cisse chomping at the bit to win his place back, however that is all hypothetical as a scenario lije that could never have existed under Dirk Dastardlys purple scheme.

  • 215 Rotonda heights // Jul 19, 2013 at 5:30 PM

I know it’s only youtube but I suggest you have a look at this. Poor touch I don’t think so!! Makes goals for himself too.

Type in Bafetimbi Gomis’s best goals / 2012-13

And even if they were rated at that amount, what good would it be selling a CL level player for £25M? What are we going to do with the £25M? But two players for £10M each? They wouldn’t be as good as the player that left, they may take time to adapt to the PL and we all know how tough it is to get the right player over the line.

No. We need to keep our top players unless they want to leave and a club is willing to pay a lot of money for them.

I think those people are thinking Championship Manager to be honest. Flog 3 players for £60M and they could probably buy a team good enough to get into the CL in a computer game. Not quite as simple as all that in real life…
