Newcastle Player Injured In Rio Ave Defeat

11:56 pm, Saturday, July 20th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 15 Comments

Newcastle did not play well in the first half last night against Rio Ave, and conceded three goals in the first 26 minutes, which led to Newcastle losing their first pre-season game 3-1.

Shola Ameobi - has damaged his wrist

In the second half Shola Ameobi pulled one back for Newcastle, but some bad news after the goal as Shola fell awkwardly on his wrist, and will have an X-ray to see what damage he may have sustained.

And after scoring Shola had to leave the field, and when he left the stadium tonight, his right arm was bandaged rather heavily.

Not sure what it could be, but the X-ray should pinpoint what the damage is.

Shola has a history of picking up various types of injuries in his thirteen years as part of the Newcastle first team.

    Ameobi injured ? , well I never .

Well at least it might speed up our striker search. Bout time we got rid of Shola anyway, if he wasn’t a geordie he would have been binned years ago. Not good enough for the PL.

continuing from last thread the people at fault for each goal

    1. jonas and dummett (possibly aniita)
    2. taylor…massively
    3. yanga and dummett

alnwick didnt have much chance with any of them, maybe the first

first 5 games of the PL season if Pardwho gets off to a bad start and is not axed we are going down…

The problem as many have predicted is, new manager will come in that is just as bad….

I dunno what to say to think and believe….

Arsola exactly! This kid is always on the sick. Be an interesting stat what percentage of games he has been available in 13 seasons! Time is up my friend

We desperately need a centre back by the looks of things. Alderweireld must be signed.

Back from my holidays to this bullish!t. Couple more results like this and surely Cashley starts to think the unthinkable. Be afraid, be very afraid!

What a surprise…Ameobi injured. Spent more time in his whole career at NUFC on the sick bed. Talk about money for nothing.

I thought things were going to well when i read shola might be sold! He is the consistently the worst player on the pitch whenever he plays (which is rarely). He cant run, he has a poor touch, for someone his size he is weak, he has a rubbish record and he cant last 90 mins. Should have been sold years ago but even then we couldnt even give him away!

Anyone know the Marveaux situation? I heard he is to be loaned out. I personally wanted to see him have more starts.

Whilst the side put out contained “lesser players” one of my concerns is that the likes of Willo and Obertan will still be plying their trade with us next season. I was under the assumption that the dead wood would be cleared out -looks like this might not be the case.
Percys’ recent reversal -to the effect that the defence are ok is also a worry. Seems to me that his previous view has been “overidden” from above. Whilst the game may be classified as a training game it surely should be the basis of what is going to be the team this coming season and the following friendlies allow you to experiment a bit.
Partial deja vous of the last few games of last season – I am now slightly worried.
