Alan Pardew has said today that he is fairly satisfied with the defense and midfield at Newcastle, but he wants more reinforcements up front.
Loic Remy – Newcastle him – he wants to come
And the manager also hinted he was overloaded a bit in midfield and one or two players could still leave this summer, and one of them will in all likelihood be Dan Gosling, who we expect to move to Crystal Palace.,
And with Papiss Cisse now likely to leave, if no solution can be found to him refusing to wear the Wonga insignia, we could see Newcastle bring in three new strikers this summer.
And news today in the local papers that Newcastle are still talking to Loic Remy’s representatives – yes those are the ones that did the dirty on Newcastle in January, when they secretly arranged a meeting with QPR in London, after asking Newcastle to arrange Remy’s medical in London rather than on Tyneside.
That was not good, but it seems Newcastle officials are willing to overlook the huge mistake made by our number one striker choice in January, and Newcastle still want to sign the 26 year-old 18 times capped French International.
The reports in the Evening Chronicle today are that Loic Remy wants to join Newcastle, so it seems both parties are willing to forget what happened in January, and although it very rarely happens on Tyneside – we could see a player who rejected us – still join the club.
While we never thought that would happen, we’d welcome Loic to Newcastle – everybody makes a mistake in their career at some point – and just imagine if we get Gomis too – we’ll essentially have two of the best French strikers at the club.
As a recap, Remy played three season at Marseilles with 95 appearances and 39 goals, and this year at a struggling QPR side, he played 18 times with four goals.
If we get both Bafetimbi Gomis and Loic Remy – we’d still need one more striker if Papiss Cisse is sold – so maybe that’s Darren Bent.
If we can get Gomis (£6M), Remy (£7M) and Bent (£4M) through the door for around £17M – that would be very good business for Newcastle.
And we’d have three good strikers up front, with 18 year-old Adam Campbell ready to show what he can do in a black and white shirt at his local club.
And new Frenchman Yoan Gouffran can also play up front, so Shola Ameobi would then in all likelihood be sold.
So there’s still time to turn this summer into a successful transfer window – just get Gomis, Remy and Bent through the door and we’d be happy enough, in fact we’d be very happy.
Go for it Joe!
