With the news today that Joe Kinnear is about to appoint Mick Harford, who is a coach, as his assistant, it’s not clear to us what Joe is doing, when Alan Pardew is in charge of all coaching at the club.
Joe Kinnear – unsettling influence at Newcastle
We have to remember that when Joe was appointed as the Director of football in early 2001 at Luton Town, when the club were in relegation trouble, he immediately demoted the manager Lil Fuccillo and appointed himself as manager of the team – but Luton were still relegated that May.
One good question to ask at Newcastle now, is who is in charge of the day-to-day operations, since Managing Director Derek LLambias resigned in protest at Kinnear’s appointment.
And the answer from the club will probably be that it’s being shared between Joe and club Secretary Lee Charnley and maybe some others, but shared responsibilities never work well in an organization.
And it’s always good to have clear lines of responsibility and one person in charge – and then if things go wrong you have one neck to wring – as the saying goes. :D.
The news today is unsettling for Newcastle, and it comes at a bad time, and seems to put even more pressure on manager Alan Pardew.
Joe can be successful at Newcastle, but only if he concentrates on the job he was hired for – getting transfer targets into the club and moving players out, and we still haven’t got one senior player through the door this summer, and that’s not good, although there’s still plenty of time left.
The appointment of Joe Kinnear was met with some dismay by Newcastle fans, and the move to appoint his pal Mick Hartford will have fans wondering what he’s up to.
We suppose it could be to have Hartford work with him on transfers and the like, since Mick is a football person, but Joe seems to be an unsettling influence at the Tyneside club – ever since he arrived.
It would also be nice if Hartford is indeed hired, that Newcastle tell the fans how he fits into the organization, and what job he’ll be doing.

Comment #41In other news, we apparently got Cat 1 academy status.
http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2013-14/jul/barclays-u21-premier-league-fixtures.html
Quote from article
There will be one national division, the Barclays Under-21 Premier League, comprised of 22 Category 1 Academies.
The Academies involved are: Lots of clubs not worth mentioning, —-Newcastle United—-, more clubs not worth mentioning

Comment #43i said it 2 years ago and i will say it again- the only way to get this lot out is to boycott every game untill he gets it into his thick head , he is not wanted here. If we had boycotted when we should have – we wouldnt be in this mess now, and for you lot who say ” cent do that must support the team bo..ocks, get a grip, we have to get them out and that is the only way to do it. If anybody else has a better idea , i would love to hear it

Comment #46Clearly it does not look like a world beating backroom team is being assembled.
Additionally, players may leave and some may come in, though none are likely to be high calibre.
One of the few plus factors is that the january signings have had more time to settle and learn English – that was obviously a major issue last season.
We do have to wait and see but I must say it is hard to be optimistic.
Again, too may drama queens on here. Make a decision on signings at the end of the summer (though by all means point out it would have been better to have got people in earlier). Then make decision on the general running of the club after the first 10 games.
If you do not like what you see, do not go to games, do not spend money on merchandise and do not spend money at sports direct.
JFK and retaining Pardew are both mistakes in my opinion but only time will prove it.

Comment #47WHY ARE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT A PRE SEASON MATCH YESTERDAY?!
15 July 2011 Darlington 0 – 2 Newcastle United Darlington [show]
20 July 2011 Sporting Kansas City 0 – 0 Newcastle United Kansas City, Kansas, United States [show]
23 July 2011 Orlando City 1 – 0 Newcastle United Orlando, Florida, United States [show]
26 July 2011 Columbus Crew 0 – 3 Newcastle United Columbus, Ohio, United States [show]
31 July 2011 Leeds United 3 – 2 Newcastle United
The above shows our pre season the season we finished 5th, this means absolute zero, its all abou fitness nothing more.

This is directed at the obvious moaners constantly about a pre season game!!

because bankrupting our team is going to help?
Forcing us to sell our best players and possibly get relegated…. right? You are a smart egg bless you, must be proud having all this knowledge and no after thought to the consequences a boycott would do to a PL club!
Typical people blabbing not understanding the whole situation. Its not just black and white, good or bad, there is so many layers of who that would effect including people working in around the club, such as shop assistants, waiters, receptionists, admin etc.
Small minded people.

Neither do you!!!
YOU ALL ASSUME you do!
No one does, just wait and see what happens all you lot do is moan and groan, if I was MA and I was petty I would tell you lot to shove it!
I am a billionaire who will this effect more, you the supporters or me the person with so much money I could burn it and still be well off!
I could sell all my assets tomorrow, leave the club in dissarray and get most of my money back from those sold.
Why should I pay money into a club people complain about ALL the time?! NO matter what he does he will never win,
BUT mark my words, people need to be careful what they say and do, how they act because as you have all read he is a ruthless guy, he does not care about us.
Infact he may even spite us in the future if you lot are not careful!!

Its not the result most of us are bothered about.
Its the useless tactics we had to put up for all of last season being used again.
Pardew didnt learn from his mistakes in over 40 games last season and its carrying on now.
surely pre season is the best tine to experiment.
Do you really want to see the same brand of football as last year. I abd most others dont, hence the moaning.
There are a few extremists screaming relegation but when you see all the teams that were around us last year strengthening and we are standing still again it is very worrying.
And quit with the caps lock you look like a schoolkid.

MAKE ME! WHAT YOU GOING TO DO? TELL MY MOMMY?
I will use caps lock when I wish, thank you very much.
As for tactics you along with half the bloggers on here (not all) are hardly master tacticians yourself!
These people are the ones that go see a pianist and complain that he made a mistake, BUT could never actually do it themselves!
You all assume you can do the job, but you would not have a clue how to run, manage a football club.
I see people talking about Lukaku, a player Cheslea paid 20m+ for a couple of seasons ago, scoring 17 goals in the PL for West Brom on loan and we are magically able to sign him for 15m!!
LOL MAKE ME LAUGH!
What do you lot eat and drink to be so delusional!!! We will never in 10000000000000000000 million years see Lukaku signed for 15m this seaoson, try 30m plus! The lad is a bairn, he has another 10-12 years of his career to look forward to why would Chelsea sell that?!
DELUSIONAL!
Then you all have the ability to make players play like Barcelona, oh if it was so simple EVERY team would do it, can you not comprehend that?! We play within our means, accept it!
You all think we are this massive club, we are very average! We are arguably bigger than those around us, but seriously we are not a big club, we are an average club with a big following, so big we dont even sell out our games, or have a season ticket waiting list.
Arsenal have thousands of people waiting, people wait for 14 years without having the option to buy!
THAT IS A BIG CLUB!
Accept it, move on.

Comment #58I’m a nufc fan from Japan, good to see you guys.Been reading this blog for a long time, but it’s my first post.I always wanted to ask you guys something.
I really want this disastrous situation to change( I think you guys as well),but seeing from a distance it looks like you guys never take any action and just keep moaning on this blog or somewhere else. Why not take any action? For example refuse to go to the match. Maybe thats because you don’t want to make the players worry or just want to see the match, but that policy hasn’t changed this situation and it’s been a long time for this disastrous time.
Maybe I’m ignorance about what’s going on between the supporters and your thoughts, but I just thought why not take any action. Although I don’t know whether that will be the best solution. I want to hear your thoughts.Thank you for reading.

Comment #68I will show you what fans know about football….
Alan Shearer as manager LOL
Games 8 Wins 1 Draws 2 Losses 5
Oh but we want him back…. He is infact ONE of the reasons we got relegated, FACT he had 8 games to stay up, and won 1!
Class manager, fans choice! WOOT!
Kevin Keegan, our messiah, the has been cry baby who leaves when the going gets tough! IN EVERY JOB HE HAS HAD! Man City, Fulham, Newcastle, England!
Games 21 Won 6 Draw 6 Loss 9
Fans choice, WOOT!
YET YOU ALL COMPLAIN OVER PARDEW
Games 120 Won 44 Draw 32 Loss 44
Hardly the worst record, but we all want him out……. yet he has probably had to deal with 20x more flak than Keegan and Shearer will have ever had to deal with in their playing career/manager simply because he is not the fans choice…..
He also got us 5th position, something which has not been done in a good few years always the same teams getting top 7 really
Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City
Liverpool, Spurs, Everton
THEN EVERYONE ELSE. He broke that mold, and is hated for it. The accomplishment itself is unbelievable and was rightly so manger of the year, something Shearer will on have a wet dream of winning.
Seriously, and I am the one told to grow up because our saviours are not running the club LOL

Comment #72Jono – Clearly directed towards me, to say otherwise then fair play, you clearly cannot take any ownership of an argument.
We as a club have not had a decent manager since Bobby Robson.
Our chairman under Freddy Shepard was doomed to fail, we would have been the next Pompey/Leeds! TRUE!
Ours fans urged for Keegan and Shearer both delivered by the board and flopped.
He then appointed a manager, who got us to 5th, then had a horrible injury plagued season to the point 17 year olds occupied the bench, and then gets slated for it, after getting us to a quarter final of the EL, again a decent achievement given his backing in the summer.
THEN people want him out?!
Fans know nothing about football, I am not happy being average stuart you little chav, you simply cannot will a team without the backing of the supporters globally like Man Utd to compete, its not accepting average, its merely being realistic!
Man City have billions of pounds spent on a team, won a handful of trophies, way to go well done, only a team that follows suit has a chance to compete.
MA clearly does not want to do that accept it, move on. We will always be average our best chance of finishing top 4 has gone, and we will be lucky to finish top 6 in the next 10 years unless serious money is spent.
Clearly not going to happen, MA owns the club, accept it, or stop supporting it simple. Stop moaning its not helping anyone!

KK first stint, we bought players for alot of money, to compete with the big boys. STILL we won nowt!
AND its was easier to do those days, more of a level playing field. Not like today were likes of Man City, Utd, Chelsea can buy any player for any amount of money….
I.e. Bale at Spurs, makes them better than average, take him away will struggle top 6!! Yet Man Utd or some team in the next year or so will take him away for stupid money.
Cannot compete simple.
Bobby didn’t compete he built a solid team, and competed for top 4, not top place. We had a very good season were it could have went that way but again different era,
Chris Hughton, as now would have been stuck in mediocrity, and had he finished like Pardew 5th, then 16th people would be doing the same today, HUGHTON OUT! he would have never finished 5th though! Infact he was long ball master, it was hoof to Carroll, very similar to how we play now! But you liked that right??? lol
Different time, era and well game in all honesty. Chelsea Utd, City will win the title this year why,…… because they have the best players that maybe 1 or 2 of them could buy our and the majority of PL teams entire squads!!!
2 players wages could fund our entire starting 11, its crazy money and wasting money for what? Personal glory?!
As stated MA is a business man, and if it were so simple to spend money like those mentioned why wouldnt everyone do it?!
Fact is football is dead, we are average, we are and always will be unless some russian tycoon bored of his little tarts and boats comes along and wants to play football manager in real life….. that has happened twice in what?! 20 years ?!
And FFP rules would also restrict another from doing so, unless of course we change sponsorship and effectively cheat like City are doing!!

Reasons i would have liked pardew gone:
Terrible style of football
Playing favourites instead of players in form
Worst goals conceded in the prem in our history
Terrible set plays/pieces
Predictable and uneffective substitutions
Sitting on slender leads against weaker opposition
Setting up to defend at home when we need points desperately.
If you want to argue pawl then argue those points.

Keegan did everything right first time, but his 2nd appointment was fans wishing he was as hungry and actually up to date with the game as he was then!
A JOKE! Infact a bigger joke than Joe Kinnear!
He was missing from football and did the runner on those same clubs he got promoted cos he could not hack the competition!
He is a cry baby, a deserter!
The only stand up gentleman of a manager we have had in my time being alive is Bobby Robson….. Keegan just leaves when he feels trouble is in paradise or doesnt get his way!
You are blind for his accomplishments in the 90’s but infact what accomplishments what did he win? NOTHING!
He is the closest we have come, closest we will ever come unless we get a board billionaire, but it does not happen often, and truth be told I would not want to win the league like that. Its almost cheating and I for one would prefer to win it like Arsenal did, buying the youth and talent and harnessing that talent for mere buttons!
I feel we have a decent team, and are starting to progress that way, only difference is Arsenal did it when the level of competition was alot more on an even playing field!
NOW its all about money and greed!
