Avid Newcastle Fan Goes Missing In Australia’s Blue Mountains

10:44 am, Monday, July 22nd, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 42 Comments

Avid Newcastle fan Gary Tweddle went missing  last Tuesday  in the Blue mountains, which are  just north of Sydney in Australia,  and Gary has not been seen since.

gary tweddle

Gary Tweddle - has been missing since last Tuesday

And I have been asked by reader Kieran McGarry, to put something out on this, to widen the awareness of the situation to readers of the blog in the Sydney area.

And it’s in  the hope that some of our readers  may know the whereabouts of Garry, or may have some additional information on him.

Here is the Facebook page that has been set up to help find Gary, and it’s probably best to put any information you may have on the facebook page.

We really hope and pray that Gary can be found alive and well.

Thanks.

    Ed,

This is a story right out of the blue

  • 2 Tommyy // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:48 AM

Sad news. Should always carry a satnav device when trekking these days, so important.

  • 3 John Tudor // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:49 AM

make every effort possible to find him please

  • 4 JFK junior // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:49 AM

    Poor lad. Hope he’s alright.

  • 6 Novocastrian66 // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:51 AM

Mick Harford has turned us down.

  • 7 Tommyy // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:52 AM

Any more information regarding Harford? Maybe he just doesn’t fancy the grief and ever growing discontent from fans.

  • 8 skipwallsend1977 // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:52 AM

Hope he turns up alive and well.
I hear the outback can be a very unforgiving place to get lost in

  • 9 richyg01 // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:52 AM

Hope they find him. Thoughts are with him and his family.

Hope he returns safe and well, we need all the fans we can right now.

    Novo – Excellent news!

  • 11 Tommyy // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:52 AM

    Novo – link?

  • 12 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:52 AM

Thoughts to his family and friends. Hopefully he will turn up!

    Sage,
I was advocating that formation for the friendly with Motherwell, using Vuckic and Inman in the attacking mid roles. It is looking increasingly unlikely we will bring in any real width, so what is the point using wingers?

We have the players to play narrow, and the full backs are both good going forward. Anita should be comfortable sweeping from left to right to cover the full back as required, and Cabaye and Sissoko are both capable of sitting eep or pushing on as needed.

    Tommy

    No such luck!!

    Sage (from last thread)

That is 100% my team, man for man. In pardewland though it will be Saylor, Jonas and Tiote. You do know that don’t you?

  • 14 lesh // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:53 AM

Let’s hope his phone’s charged up and switched on. We’re all with you Gary, keep a Haas bonny lad.

Spank @ 1, very droll but under the circumstances……?

  • 15 FatmanJoe // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:53 AM

    Hope he gets found.

On another note, glad that Harford isn’t coming.. Probably realised his appointment wouldn’t be popular and didn’t want the headache.

I’m quite keen for us to scout in England too though. Just not with him.

  • 16 Bring Back Laurent Robert // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:53 AM

Hope they find him, but won’t really make any difference to me and beyond this minute of commenting, I doubt my thoughts will be with him.

    Sorry, don’t do insincerity.

  • 17 geordiesteve520 // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:53 AM

Awful, just awful, so many people underestimate the sheer vastness of Australia. On a more positive note, Harford not coming, turned us down, so could be perceived as a negative and slap in face to club.

  • 18 rainrix // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:54 AM

Damn joe cant even sign up mick harford. We are truly doomed this window :)

  • 19 richyg01 // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:54 AM

Gosling close to re joining Palace – should conclude this week.

    More on Gomis developments.

    News on Harford‘s move collapse.

I’m quite pleased to see some of the usual faces on here today. Post the defeat the other day, this place was littered with trolls and doom mongers!

I know it always happens on here, but hopefully with a couple signings and a better showing in our next couple games, old bloggers will return, and the trolls will leave again.

  • 22 Slank // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:56 AM

    Lesh,

    Couldn’t help it.

Hope they find the lad. At least it’s not the summer there but it will be cold at night.

  • 23 Rotonda heights // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:56 AM

    tommy

    I spoke too soon. !!!

just wonder if we can scrape the barrel any lower than harford now?

  • 24 FatmanJoe // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:56 AM

2 attacking players will complete our squad in my opinion. If we stay injury free I think we’re fine in other areas.

  • 25 evildick // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:56 AM

poor lad, hopefully they find him soon. Horrible place to get lost.

  • 26 jeff // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:56 AM

I accept this article on this blog. And i accept the dosh you are rolling in, Ed, from me clicking this page

  • 27 lesh // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:57 AM

    • Haas = haad.

Harford turned us down? Schitt, we must look bad.

    Maybe Joe’s impressed him too!

  • 28 Tommyy // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:59 AM

Rotonda – I actually think the role/s are ok, it’s just the timing and the personnel. We need young forward thinking people in these roles, not mates of mates and has beens. The wrong personnel will set us even further back. Just like Kinnear has.

  • 29 FatmanJoe // Jul 22, 2013 at 10:59 AM

I don’t think your acceptance is important to anyone Jeff, least of all Ed.

  • 30 John Tudor // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM

i thought harford has said he is no second flddle to a crap orchestra

  • 31 jeff // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:01 AM

For what its worth this site has average page loading of 4 secs which is only faster than 10% of the entire internet. Wonder why its so slow i wonder. Those big melons at the top of the page took a while to load i bet

Also on this article i hope he gets found. Australia is a scary country. Get a lot of aussie tourists over here in india. There is all manner of poisonous and dangerous animals

  • 32 Rotonda heights // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:01 AM

    jfk junior

You can lose the preachy, holier than thou attitude. Many of us have every right to vent as we have had an absolute gutful of what’s been going on at our club. This is a forum to vent and we’ll vent if we want to. I feel a song coming on.

  • 33 Transfer Sage // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:01 AM

    lilongwe

I agree with that…no point using wingers for the sake of it if they are not good enough and ineffective. We need to make sure we stop using wingers or if we are to use them sign some up.

  • 34 JFK junior // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:02 AM

Jeff – wish you would “accept” the fact that your input to this blog is absolute zero!

  • 35 lesh // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:02 AM

Slank, know what you’re saying – I too was tempted to comment in a similar vein but propriety kicked in.

Lilongwe, as Harford’s not joining us, there’s a job going that’s just up your street – maybe you’ll get a call from uncle Joe.

  • 36 winnynufc // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:03 AM

Why dont they fly Joe Kinnear over didnt he teach Bear Grills everything he knows!!
On a serious note hope they find the lad all well.

  • 37 JFK junior // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:03 AM

Rotonda – Did you stomp your feet when writing that post?!

A forum to vent, and we’ll vent if we want too”!

    :-)

  • 38 FatmanJoe // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:03 AM

Jeff, whereabouts in India do you live? I’ve spent a lot of time over there.

Also, it’s venomous, not poisonous. Australia is fine and there are excellent rescue teams all over the country for just that purpose.

  • 39 skipwallsend1977 // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:04 AM

I can see Cabaye leaving for about £12-15m and replaced (if at all) by some young unknown. If Liverpool think they can get Ben Arfa for £7m then they’re as deluded as we are. However, I would sell for about £12-15m. Don’t get me wrong, I love to see HBA on top of his game but we can’t afford the inconsistencies he has this coming season. I think Marv could easily take his place as a tricky playmaker.

  • 40 toonydoonunder // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Jeff you are an absolute tool of a knacker bag ,as most have mentioned on here if you dont like it @#$% off , and ps the ads that come up are linked directly to your internet preferences so the porn and beastiality site ads are all your own doing you chump ,so go mount your sheep and do one .

  • 41 DomW // Jul 22, 2013 at 11:18 AM

New poster…after years of reading this I finally give in :)

Pure speculation but could it have collapsed because of the compensation required by Millwall? Afterall, Harford only signed up for them a month ago.

    Just a thought.

  • 42 Toon73 // Jul 22, 2013 at 1:07 PM

Blue Mountains are WEST of here Ed.
