There are reports in France that Marseilles are ready to let their striker Andre-Pierre Gignac leave the club this summer, to ease their rather large wage bill.
Andre-Pierre Gignac – doesn’t want to leave Marseilles
It seems that Marseilles want to move Gignac out this summer, and with Newcastle reported to be interested in the player, that may be good news for Newcastle.
But it seems Gignac does not want to leave Marseilles, and he’s already indicated that he’d like to join a bigger club than Newcastle. 🙁
Gignac is 27 and is coming off a good season with 18 goals in 39 total games for the French club, and he’s also a physical type of player who could do well in the Premier League.
Willie McKay has been asked to look for a club for Gignac, and Willie had this to say to Le Parisien about potential interest in England:
“They’re interested in his profile. With his power, he’s made for the Premier League.”
However his agent Jean-Christophe Cano has made it clear his client does not want to leave Marseilles, and Cano said this in Le Parisien:
“We’ve got a lot of time to think together about what comes next,” “I’ve not mentioned the slightest offer from abroad for Andre-Pierre, because he simply has not envisaged leaving this summer.”
“Finding a better project that OM’s right now is immensely difficult. He’s looking forward to enjoying another great season at Marseilles.”
It seems that Gignac is a long shot for a move to Newcastle United this summer, and probably the main reason for that is he just doesn’t want to come to the Tyneside club – so why bother?
What do you think?

You condescending uppity so and so.

maybe borrow one of Muslim players prayer mat.”
What is that supposed to mean exactly? By the way, did you see the picture of Cisse in the casino?

I’ll respond to those:
Employing Kinnear (again) – agreed. But a DoF is not a bad move
Trying to employ Harford – why? What do you know about his skills in scouting players in the lower leagues?
Retaining Pardew – disagree. Just as I disagree that he was going to be tapped up by England or Utd when we finished 5th
Not adding to our coaching set up – still time
Not signing anyone – still time. Can’t be a negative yet!
Selling players without first bringing in replacement – we’ve barely sold anyone and we already have cover with youth players and those in January. We currently have 26 players we would need to register, and we’re only allowed 25
The Wonga sponsorship – didn’t happen in Summer. But yes, I don’t like that.
Failing to deal with the Cisse situation – agreed. But there may not be a resolution if Cisse and Wonga dig their heels in. Cisse is most likely contractually obliged to wear the strip and NUFC are most likely contractually obliged for all their players to wear the strip too.

Comment #50As its all just opinions and nobody knows except cisse and the club, i dont think cisse is trying to engineer a move.
I understand people who think otherwise and thats their choice.
But to see some fans so against cisse without knowing if its true is a bit worrying.
Wait til the truth comes out and then judge.

Not refusing to play. Refusing to wear a strip that is against his strong beliefs.
Sure, it should have been sorted out ages ago, but we don’t know the ins and outs. Maybe he was fine with it and then some religious leader told him that he shouldn’t and he changed his mind. We shouldn’t be so quick to leap to conclusions here.
Sounds like he’d happily play if he could play without the Wonga logo.

A Director of Football is a position that we need at the club but that position is rendered useless by it being given to Kinnear.
If we are looking at people like Harford to add to our staff then thing’s are going down hill faster than I thought as he has done nothing to warrant a position at this club.
The youth players we have are simply not good enough for the first team other than Biggie so selling Perch who could cover a multitude of positions was stupid.
Retaining Pardew when he turned us into a relegation threatened side and expecting things to change next season is a move of a man that is best suited to selling clothing and not running a football club.
We are employing people on the basis that they are simply glad to be offered a role in top flight football, no one else would touch the like’s of Pardew and Kinnear and yet we offer them an eight year contract and one of the most important and influential roles at any football club.
Any positives that Ashley brings to the club are rendered useless by the people that he employ’s

We’ve got fans constantly threatening to boycott the club and fans tearing up season tickets and not turning up for games. Do we assume that they want to support another club just because they are protesting on a point of principle?

Many people are not happy with the situation, but I think we help to create the media circus around the club ourselves. Other clubs make controversial decisions but they aren’t as highlighted in the media as with us. We’re such a highly strung bunch of fans that no matter what the club did, there would always be a minority being really vocal about how bad it was.
If we spent £100M on new players there would still be people on this forum saying it’s ridiculous, that MA is gambling on us getting into the CL and if we don’t then we’ll “do a Leeds” and he’ll put us into administration and disappear…

Comment #67More positives to add –
Pards is living on the his last life now,
Kinnear is not exactly a young, healthy bloke if he was too take over he won’t last long before the stress f**ks him again.
Gosling going is great stop Pards putting him on ahead of Bigi and Anita.

Comment #68Ruddy- you’ve got to be able to recognise talent. Ibiza is one of very few posters who can change the mood of the blog within minutes of posting through his quips and humour. Without meeting him I can see him working a room.
I read the blog and noticed a lame comment referencing Solano. I am not embarrassed by recognising quality and talent in many forms. I don’t feel threatened by it!

You don’t know how well JFK is going to do yet until he does something. The only thing (positive or negative) that he’s done so far is open his gob too much in the media.
Harford is a proven coach in the lower leagues and could be just the right type of person to assess some of the players in those leagues and recommend some to bring to the club. Not much point in bringing an internationally renowned French scout to scout League Two for us is there?
We barely tried any youth players after January. But we have a few promising ones: Bigi, Campbell, Vuckic, Dummett, Sammy, Fergie, Tav, Haidara.
Moyes nearly got Everton relegated TWICE. And he did alright after that.
“The likes of Pardew and Kinnear”? So you just mean Pardew and Kinnear? I agree that Kinnear is an odd appointment, but Pardew wasn’t an odd appointment for a mid-table/bottom half team that we were at the time. We’re not going to attract a CL level manager at the moment.
