Coloccini, Debuchy, Tiote And Ben Arfa Start

7:03 pm, Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 504 Comments

Pacos de Ferreiranufc-crest

As expected Fabricio Coloccini, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote and Mathieu Debuchy all start for Newcastle tonight, as we face Pacos de Ferreira, who finished 3rd top of the Primeira last season and qualified for the Champions League.

Rob Elliot is back in goal and it looks like Yanga-Mbiwa is at left-back, where he played so well for the Magpies in the last few games of the season.

And both Ameobi brothers start this game too, and it’s a little bit of a surprise that Shola is fit after his wrist injury on Saturday night, but it’s still good news for Newcastle, since we are so short of strikers right now.

We expect this to be an even tougher game that we had against Rio Ave on Saturday night.

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Rob Elliot; Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa; Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye; Moussa Sissoko, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi; Shola Ameobi
Substitutes: Jak Alnwick, Davide Santon, Paul Dummett, Mike Williamson, Jonas Gutierrez, Haris Vuckic, Sylvain Marveaux, Yoan Gouffran, Adam Campbell

    Sissoko is not a CAM.

Shola is not a starter, especially coming off an injury.

Other then that pretty decent. Nice to see Sammy getting a chance.

  • 2 Ginger // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Oh my lord Yanga at LB as well.

  • 3 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:07 PM

interesting to see mbiwa at left back instead of santon. he did a very good job there last season though. heart braking to see shola start though. he can hardly run!

    2-1 NUFC.

Predicted this same old from Pardew. Playing our best CB in LB, Santon on bench… Sissoko being played out of position where Marvo should be playing…. or even Vuckic.. Yoan Gouffran should be starting instead of Shola Ameobi which I thought was injured? and what about Sammy all show no development and finish…

    Nothing has changed.

  • 8 Ginger // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:09 PM

    toonarmydownsouth

I know, but a few months previous to that he was also saying he wasn’t a CAM even though he was enjoying playing there. Sure it means more glory for him, but quite frankly he’s awful there.

  • 9 viv // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:10 PM

    Pardew out Cisse out!

The Ameobi ‘Bros up front terrorising their defence.

  • 12 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:11 PM

Anyone that is awaiting a change in tactics can dream on, seems he has not learnt from last season although he admitted not long ago that there was problems. He is only going to carry on to what he thinks is correct which is in reality wrong due to his ego.

  • 13 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:13 PM

Argh not you again lol, I remember our last conversation “JamieMackem” haha. Whats the problem now? why should I have a word with myself, didn’t quiet understand that.

  • 14 roe997 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:13 PM

I think sissoko is a cam or box to box cm.hes not a deep lying dm. Hes not a wide man or rw.

    Turkish

where is your evidence that Yanga is our best centre back?
last season he looked like a fish out of water so it cant be based on watching him then and i can only assume your basing it on his reputation alone.

  • 17 ~Joke-innear~ // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Not to jynx anything… but I have a feeling someone is gonna get injured tonight…

  • 19 Ginger // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:16 PM

    roe997

In know way do I think he is a CAM, he gets the ball runs into a player or does an awful pass and loses possession. When deployed further back he has time to look and pick out runs/passes.

  • 28 Toon_Tom // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:19 PM

Sissoko – CM who can sit in a defensive role and break up play or can also play the number10 role, more advanced and powerhousing thru the middle.

Lets whack him in the flank tonight

  • 29 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:20 PM

    @luke.r

I dont base it on videos but base it on ability and awareness. Steven Taylor has been here for years but he always causes problems at the back and should not even be starting. Mbiwa is our best center back currently, with Coloccini he is losing his pace and his tactical awareness due to his age and you will witness more of this in the upcoming season.

I am basing it on what we currently have and Mbiwa is going to be a key player this season. I feel we need a taller and stronger Center Back to compliment him and that’s something we are lacking the most.

  • 30 plana // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:21 PM

6-1 hiding! Sack Pardew, the numpty!

  • 31 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:21 PM

    @ROSHAN MAGPIE

Only reason Gutti is not starting is so Pardew can flirt with him on the bench more and get to know him more before proposing to move in.

  • 32 Ginger // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:21 PM

  • 33 AaranD // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Was tempted to stream the game but starting to reconsider. If Marvs and Gouff replaced the Ameobis as thats looking like our best team atm.

  • 34 Ginger // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:23 PM

Well I shall lessen the slating of the team now, who knows this team could be absolutely quality. I’ll give it it’s chance.

    Haway the lads.

  • 35 colwell // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:24 PM

So Gomis friend has said he is coming to Newcastle on twitter?

  • 36 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:24 PM

    Turkist-

I agree that Mbiwa will challenge Taylor’s place this year but i don’t think Taylor should just be knocked out of the team as Yanga didn’t play very well at CB last season and he needs a lot of improving and getting used to the premiership before he is ready. As for colo, when he came back our defence looked a lot stronger and it is a joke to say colo isnt as good as Mbiwa. Like i said, show me evidence… Colo’s awareness is still excellent as far as im concerned from watching him last season.

  • 37 Themesh // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:26 PM

if theres so much promise and last season “he was on the brink of first team” why has campbell had little game time in pre season. i thought he would have started or cme on at half time for one of the games soo far so he at least gets half a game, maybe today half time??

  • 38 toonthompson // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:26 PM

Gomis’ friend on twitter just said that Gomis is going to nufc. I won’t get exited till he is holding the shirt

  • 39 SeanNufc87 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:27 PM

The sad thing is that most pardew out brigade are blind to the other side of the argument, I could explain away most of pardews ‘faults’ but there would be little point as the people calling for his head seem the most stubborn to change their views.

Im not a pardew lover, im a he did well before, we’re stuck with him give him another chance-er.

  • 40 Hatem's better than Messi // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:27 PM

    Mbiwa at LB ???
He should be starting CB with Colo.
Dummett or Santon should be at LB.

Giving everyone a run out is great but lets try to get people playing in their preferred starting positions.

    Pardew sucks.
    The whole bloody club sucks.

  • 41 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:27 PM

Turkish* i apologize, typing was never my strong suit lol

  • 42 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:28 PM

    @luke.r

I did’nt say Coloccini lost it. I said he is losing it as he is aging more and his pace is going down along with his tactical awareness. This will be more clear during the many games in the upcoming season. No doubt he is currently our best CB alongside Mbiwa but Coloccini has the current edge as you have pointed out.

But we really need another Center Back whom is minimum 6ft 4 and is has quiet a body mass which will compliment our back 4. This is something we massively lack.

  • 43 plana // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:29 PM

    Sack the club!

  • 44 Toon1978 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:29 PM

The midfield is pretty awesome tbf but up front its CC and DIV 1 at best. It’s a damn disgrace!

  • 45 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:31 PM

    Turkish

Fair enough well i still disagree somewhat with what your saying. It may become clear, i dont think hes losing either at the pace you think he is. I think we could still get another good season out of him if he can keep fit.

Though we really do need another CB. Its hard to call Willo a Championship player. I hate that he is still back up and we do need a big strong lad at the back who would boss our defence.

  • 46 JaxtheMag // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:32 PM

it is a pre season game to help bring all the players up to the same level of fitness. but it would be nice to win.pardew under pressure if we don’t.

  • 47 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:34 PM

I’ve never been into the Pardew out club although I’d had enough of him after the mackem catastrophe, simply because I was worried who’d replace him, now the proof is in the pudding if Pardew goes we have lined up a managerial dream deam of MH and JfK.

  • 49 lukes26 // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:35 PM

I will bet anyone here good money that Yanga starts the season at LB.

Pardew is a defend-first manager. It’s too tempting to have three of your best defenders playing together (colo, taylor, yanga)

    Santon can’t defend. simple.

  • 50 Lachu // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:37 PM

How could every one here assume yanga mbiwa to be LB is beyond me , Surely pardew has proved he s dumb enuff that it could colo or elliot @ left back today haha

been watching the game and i know these are only friendlys but i am seriously concerned about the season ahead ,we look pure tosh, again no imagination or aattacking flair ,i read a article about pardew and he said he always set his team out to attack well i am telling ya if that is his idea of attacking football then we are doomed ,is it me or are all the players playing outta position again when will the man ever learn ,round pegs for round holes and square pegs for square holes ,we are supposed to be ready for the new season are new strikers will end up not having a pre season and that will be there excuse for the garbage that is on display ,again tonight we look lost and outta sorts with no imagination ,game plan or cutting edge i have a feeling this is gonna be a long season and if we dont sign players we will be relagated because we will be lucky to win a match

Pardews shot in the head give campbell the start

  • 68 keel // Jul 23, 2013 at 7:52 PM

pardew should not be playing MYB at left back especially when we have the chance to play santon or even give young Dummet a chance to get experience etc

Huge mistake letting him go, especially given their current shortage in CM. Got the ingredients of a potential great and plays way beyond his years. I know it’s not a fair comparison, as players develop at different rates and stages in their careers, but knowing he’s 20 and plays with such assertion in a team like Juve, doesn’t look great for our lot, although proves what can happen when talent is given a chance!

Sick of hearing it man.

Yes we had a crap season…but the season before we had a great season. I just can’t see why people can’t wait until mid-season and then start complaining if we’re terrible

  • 80 RonVanDam // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:02 PM

Due to Colo’s lack of pace, i wouldve like to to see im at DM tonights game. 1st half paired with Tioti and 2nd with Anita and if he plays well then try him out with Sissoko and Cabaye in the 2nd game.

I dont know why Sissoko wants to play as a CAM when his playing style is based on pace and running directly at players. That role should be reserved for players like Ben Arfa, Marv and Cabaye who offer creativity and scoring chances for striker(s)

    My starting line would be:

    —————————-Rob Elliot
    ——– Debuchy——–Taylor——-MYB———Dummett
    ———————Tiote ————– Coloccini
    ———–Ben Arfa———-Yohan Cabaye———Santon

    Looks like we are playing a 4 – 4 -1 -1 tonight.
Sis – cabs – tiote – sammy in midfield and HBA supporting Ameobi.

I do think HBA will thrive in that role, if he balances passing and taking on players he could work wonders there. But he needs the support wide of him or else he just gets swamped and i dont see Sissoko and sammy being them players.

What was Shola doing there, did someone put him in slow motion? The quick break just bypassed him, then instead of having someone to square it to, Sissoko had to check and it broke down.

I can’t defend Shola. I hope he moves on for both our sakes, because he can be an asset to a Championship team.

We have some (potentially) really good players, I don’t get why it doesn’t work. I guess Pardew is the easy option, but maybe it’s the coaches and backroom staff etc, we don’t really know. We’ll just have to hope we don’t get too many injuries, and we can get the players gelling well together.

We are playing some garbage stuff, but don’t achieve anything by whining so we may as well at least attempt optimism! If we are let down, then sure, we can moan! But IMO we have no right to complain until 5-10 games into the prem!

“To be honest guys the players themselves are passing poorly. I know Pardew doesn’t exactly bring the best out of our guys but still they don’t look sharp right now.”

It has nothing to do with the players at all, in this case its the training strategies set by the manager which is Alan Pardew at this instance. Don’t act surprised, this has been on going for a very long time in last season. The manager is responsible for this, the same reason he is responsible for playing Sissoko out of position on the RIGHT WING.

I really can’t understand people defending Pardew. I can understand that we might not get a better manager and that is a fair argument, but I would bet it all on a new manager. That’s how low i value Pardew. No passing, no triangles, no advanced runs. He really is limited, especially compared to the opther managers in EPL.

I am getting sick of people on here going on about how rubbish pardew is. Any manager would struggle with the players we have. I keep hearing people claim MYM is the best centre half at the club. This can’t be based on any of his performances for us. He has been far worse then collo and Taylor. You guys are going off his form in the French league, which may I say joey Barton is one of the stand out players in. It’s a poor league that’s if the top 4 teams where removed would resemble to the championship.
Also sissoko is not Steven Gerrard. He played well against villa and Chelsea and apart from that he has been hopeless. If these players where so good then why did they end up at team who looked like they were going down when they signed. Nobody else wanted them so they can’t be that good. He has no vision so a deep lying midfield position wouldn’t suit him. At least cabaye and tiote can spray the ball about.
I think cabaye is our best player but isn’t anywhere near the quality of mata, fabregas, Gerrard and the other top centre midfielders. At best I would rate him as £15m. People who rate him at £25m are deluded.
The sooner we relise out team is poor the better. Pardew is a manager not a miracle worker.

  • 268 TurkishFan101 // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:47 PM

Are we watching the same game ? , There have been about two passing moves that were half decent, other than that it is pass sideways along the back four or midfield then float it out to either Debuchy, or sissoko on the right wing and Ameobi up front.

  • 291 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM

too be fair, this isnt our first team and like pardew said in that interview, the players a bit tired from all the training theyve been doing. its not wonder the lads arnt looking too sharp and the passing is slightly off. you play in the heat and all week and then try and play a proper game.

  • 292 LGFUAD21 // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM

I am more tolerant than most on Pards and feel he dies deserve another few months here before being fired. As much as I would prefer other managers.

That said. Isn’t preseason for building your team. Hba and sammy are the only ones really being assessed for value here.

Moussa is not a winger. Marveaux should be given more of a chance. Reckon he’d be perfect for the hole behind a striker.

You can never tell how good a tea, is from a sluggish preseason game but at least use them to get a good bearing on how to use your players pardew.

And whoever said we don’t need wingers earlier i have to disagree. We are in desperate need of at least a lw with the productivity of hba.

  • 293 Bring Back Laurent Robert // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM

All I will say is, the signs aint good….

Slow start reminiscent of last season

    Sissoko RW

Stilted build-up that breaks down before getting anywhere near their box, due to a lack of movement ideas and purpose, or our other tactic of launching it to either Ameobi or Debuchy up the wing.

    Players unnecessarily getting into scuffles.

Tiote still misplacing passes and mistiming challenges.

Our one good move was the break with HBA and Sissoko, which in the process just bypassed Shola, as he strolled out to the wing looking to receive it, instead of keeping up with play and getting himself in the centre for the squared ball – he started 50 yards in advance of them, for crying out loud.

  • 294 luke.r // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM

lets try and be a bit positive for once it wont kill you!!

  • 295 Rowan Milsted // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM

Hmm. Pretty poor so far. Awful in fact. For me the most worrying thing is that we only have Shola up front and Cisse isn’t getting any pre-season time with the team. I hope Campbell gets a run tonight.

Best not to read too much into an early pre-season friendly but I hope we improve 2nd half. Silly boy Colo – we do seem a bit irritable tonight. Doesn’t bode too well.

  • 296 AaranD // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:54 PM

The way we play is ultimately dictated from the manager. Yes the players are meant to execute it on the pitch but if they don’t they should be dropped or least have a talking too but that never happens. That shows Pardew is happy with the way we play and have been playing since he took over. Yes we got 5th under him but that was down to hard work and a fair amount of luck, those things only get you so far.

I also feel this is very bad team to play for a pre-season game. Very poo stirring side from what ive seen and the ref is a plonker ( keeping it PG rated :D). Zero respect being shown from either side to be fair.

  • 297 RooneyToons // Jul 23, 2013 at 8:54 PM

Cabaye, Debuchy and Colo were all putting little nigglers in. This doesnt bode well.

And also once weve made a pass, WHY DONT WE FU=*ING MOVE. Wow it gets on my tits, its so easy to defend against players that dont move.

The little bit just before half time where hatem and cheik were passed to each other 4 or 5 times without either of them thinking to move once they had passed the ball typifies all that is wrong with the attacking part of our game.

The tiredness does make sense! Do you ever partake in physical exercise? After been pretty much sedentary for a couple of months, then beginning a programme more intense than you’ve ever experienced, it’s going to leave you a bit aching/sore, initially. That’s the whole point, overloading to try and improve our speed and stamina, for when it matters.

I hope your right I really do !! For me he is still playing the same way he did when we 1st got him its just teams now know how to deal with him and to chase him the second he gets the ball because he will lose it

Also because we have changed style in that we need him to be more than a guy who snaps people he is way out of his depth

So If he suddenly becomes a good passer which he has never been then great but if not lets get him benched till he improves no point playing him every game with performances that are Championship level at best

  • 451 nufcursed // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:45 PM

if campbell gets more games he will be our best (and only?) signing!

  • 452 believeintoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:46 PM

    Tiote’s pass is always horrible

  • 453 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:46 PM

  • 456 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM

Bad decision by campbel…should have volleyed it…

Vucic for CB there is our signing..

  • 457 Rooster // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM

Tiote, suicide , for fek sake lad.

  • 458 hotdog // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM

    well done vuckic lad

  • 459 Laurent Robert 32 // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM

    Are they Barca in disguise?

  • 460 Levi // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM

Tiote just made me look like a right twaat haha.

  • 461 2_goal_tino // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:48 PM

Good work by Vuckic to get back. Not good enough by Tiote! Tio and Guti always just go down if in any pressure and hope the ref gives a foul

  • 462 rainrix // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:48 PM

Vuckic has looked bright and can actually deliver a set play. Hope to god he can stay fit.

  • 463 sweendog // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:48 PM

tiote is poor .. lucky vuckic was there to clear a certain goal

  • 464 Bring Back Laurent Robert // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

That’s the kind of commitment and desie needed Vuckic!

Always tries is heart out, and gives the impression he really wants to make his mark in footy and not be another also-ran. Has poise and vision so few of our team possess, not to mention the sweetest striker of a ball we have.

  • 465 believeintoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

doesn’t matter whether it’s a friendly or not, this performance was just not good enough. Again looks like there aren’t any ideas to create chances

  • 466 JackButler // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

What the hell happened to Tiote being a 20 million player???

  • 467 nufcursed // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

    gutierrez is wearing a bra

  • 468 Tyldesley Toon // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

I’ve just wasted 90 minutes of my life I can’t get back, god that game was boring

  • 469 Laurent Robert 32 // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Go forward, look clueless, lose the ball then chase round after it again.

  • 470 TheToonKing // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Why is Jonas wearing a bra ?

  • 471 Levi // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:50 PM

    Vuckic to start against city?

  • 472 ToonDownSouth // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:50 PM

    Does no one remember?

Vuckic impresses EVERY pre season, then he breaks.

  • 473 Yohan Kebab // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:50 PM

i love vuckic, might just become a haris supporter cos we are shite

  • 474 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:51 PM

    @464 jb

^^ was you watching the same game ? tiote had a great game there and looked like tiote of old.

  • 475 hotdog // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:51 PM

I thought Guti gave us a bit of urgency in the second half. Overall not great but its pre-season lets not forget that but if i see Sissoko on the wing again ill swing for AP!!!

  • 476 believeintoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:51 PM

well we have to believe that they are still working on the physical stuffs mainly in Portugal and after coming back they will work on the tactics

  • 477 nufcursed // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:51 PM

pardew is the best manager ever you have to give him that:
for a manager with so limited knowledge he’s got into a club like newcastle united.
surely this must be the most remarkable achievement in managerial history!

  • 478 Jonny // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:51 PM

Boys did look very sharp tonight. Good performance.

  • 479 TheToonKing // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:52 PM

Apart from that brilliant move almost costing us the game, I thought Tiote was the best player today. He needs to cut stupid out of his game though.

  • 480 JackButler // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:53 PM

    TheToonKing

It’s a top that has a tracker built into it so the manager can see how much ground each player cover’s, it’s also used to review positioning

  • 481 JackButler // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:53 PM

    croftus5678

It was meant to be sarcastic :(

  • 482 Rooster // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:53 PM

Please, bring some fresh players in to this club, we look so stale and clueless, early season run out, fair enough but devoid of any ideas at all, one cross in all night, if something dosnt change between now and the start of the season, its going to be chilly indeed, I don’t like being negative but not a thing has changed in any way from last season, god awful.

  • 483 Bring Back Laurent Robert // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:53 PM

Tiote is one of the major hindrances to our attacking play. Can’t trust him with the ball, so it’s always chancy to commit too many forward when he has it, dwells on it and gets caught and an awful passer. Gives away daft free-kicks all too often as well. Apart from that…..

Hope we start the season with a midfield of

    __________Anita___Sissoko
    _____________Cabaye

  • 484 TheToonKing // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:54 PM

Yeah I know, still looks silly though :D

  • 485 Patoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:54 PM

he’l hav his bra off now and and Pardew wil b stuck on 1 of his tits, fcuk Pardew has 2 go, team is clueless goin forward, can’t c us scoring 30 next season and can c us conceding about 80

  • 486 Yohan Kebab // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:54 PM

our midfield looked better, but still think our 4231 is too defensive

  • 487 Rowan Milsted // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Fantastic energy and effort from Gouffran and Vuckic. Santon looks like he’s improved vastly too.

Very disappointed that Campbell didn’t get on ’til so late in the game. The lad needs game time.

  • 488 jeff // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:55 PM

So after that performance, who are yall second teams for this season?

Think im gonna follow arsenal pretty seriously this year

  • 489 Yohan Kebab // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:56 PM

i like the look of santon further up the pitch if he can improve his shooting, play him on the right and he could be an out and out get it to the by line winger

  • 494 toon kk // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:59 PM

Well what’s the verdict lads? Marks out of ten.

  • 495 Yohan Kebab // Jul 23, 2013 at 9:59 PM

my starting line up for city would be

    krul
    debuchy colo mbiwa haidara
    tiote cabaye
    vuckic sissoko hba
    gouffran

with the front 4 constantly rotating

still think haidara better defensively than santon

  • 497 Jail for Ashley // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:00 PM

I ASKED WHAT TIME DID THE GAME KICK OFF ANYBODY !!!

  • 498 believeintoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:00 PM

    Just bring some players in!
We were already a small squad but after releasing 4~5 players, we are becoming much worse
It’s good to try to get a good deal but somtimes you just have to spend money.
Just bring in Gomis,Remy,Bent for 20M and that’s enough.
We definetly have plenty of money to spend for

  • 499 manxpie // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:02 PM

cheers lads i hope i aint jinxed him with his injury lol
and can i just say wat pre-season is for its for fitness and giving lots of players game time against good teams who are doing the same!
so for the people complaining bout the starting line up, the subs and even the play to some extent is laughable but i know i’m mostly talkin to brick walls!
can you not see its about getting the whole squad playing and getting used to each other??
or is pardew a moron for taking arfa n cabeye off!!?
its a pre-season friendly remember that lol

    and i’m gonna start it

    “BRING BACK TORQ” :)

  • 500 Bring Back Laurent Robert // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:02 PM

I’d be tempted to start Vuckic. I’d forget what a genuinely hungry player looks like, if it wasn’t for him and Gouffy. Funny how it’s the likes of them that Pardew never bigs up in the press.

  • 501 manxpie // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:03 PM

    8 JFA

  • 502 believeintoon // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    4-3-2-1 or 4-1-4-1

    Krul
    Anita Saylor Coloccini Mbiwa
    Debuchy Sissoko Santon
    Cabaye HBA
    Gouffran

    will be good for me

  • 503 nufcursed // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    yohan kebab:

i would swap santon for debuchy; debuchy is not that good going forward.
if we have santon and haidara as full backs, we have two players that can offer some attacking movement.

apart from debuchy and tiote i think that’s exactly our best line-up right now.
i would play bigirimana instead of tiote as he makes less mistakes.
    so:

    KRUL
    SANTON COLO MBIWA HAIDARA
    BIGI CABAYE
    SISSOKO VUCKIC BEN ARFA
    GOUFFRAN

  • 504 croftus5678 // Jul 23, 2013 at 10:09 PM

    my assesment on that game

gk had great distribution played it very simple and worked from the back
debuchy : avg game nothing special
santon: poor at lb and far too right footed did better as rb
dummett : short time he was on he looked our best choice for lb
mbiwa: class and our best cb
    collo:lost his head there
taylor/williamson : both scare me esp williamson who should have given away a pen within a min of coming on.
tiote: looked like the tiote of old cutting the bal out and playing simple
guti: wow the lad played awsome in a free cm position far far far more positive for him and he looked like a 1st teamer there.
vukic: almost scored with a header and cleared off the line ! 1st time i’ve seen how much quality the lad has.
marv: very disapointing (my set the world alight player last season) but as much quality as the lad has he really doesnt care about anything if he doesnt have the ball :-(
cambell; in the right positions and looked lively (high hopes)
goofy: great game as striker again causes tons of problems and a really hard worker just a shame he doesnt have that touch more class.
shola; the lad is scoring ^^ still hate the fat lazy git though but pretty much shows we need a main prescence as a striker (comon gomis)
arfa; ball went to him a fair bit so proves we need wingers but only an avg game
sissoko; put himself about and broke things up also so fairly good game
cabaye; did he play or didnt he play ?

team; tried a passing game and played pretty well (got better as it went on and more motivated players took there place.

honest opinion cabaye/arfa/santon/saylor/williamson looked our weaker links there (although santon got better at rb and arfa based on avg game with nothing really exciting)
