Alan Pardew is a very good man-manager, and his players seem to respect him at Newcastle, and Alan has talked today about Yohan Cabaye, with the French schemer being the most likely to leave Newcastle this summer, with PSG, Manchester United and Monaco having all expressed an interest in the 22 times capped French International.
Yohan Cabaye – fully focused at Newcastle
And Yohan showed his class after we were 3-0 down at Rio Ave on Saturday night in the first half, and he had a couple of good shots just wide of the target, before hitting an upright just before half time, and for his first pre-season game of the season he looked at times what he is – a classy player.
Alan Pardew not surprisingly is hoping he can keep the Frenchmen on Tyneside, and we know that Newcastle will only sell him if we get a bid close to £25M, and that will probably not happen – at least not this summer.
This is what Alan Pardew told the local press today, when asked if he though Yohan would be leaving Newcastle this summer:
“Not really.” “I feel like all of our players there is a value to Yohan. Obviously he is a player I want to keep.” “He is a great technical player and his personality is fantastic.”
“It’s a big season for him. He will be a starter for France at the World Cup.” “It’s important for him. He is focused very much on us.” “There’s no bid for him as we speak now.”
“Until such time as there is he is a Newcastle United player.” “Yohan’s a total, 100% professional.” “Anything else that’s said is all the speculation. It will go on.“ “It’ll always go on around quality players like him, like with Rooney and Ronaldo.”
“It’s part and parcel of being a big player.” “Yohan had a couple of special moments.” “It showed his quality.”
Cabaye did make some comments earlier in the summer that he could be interested in a move to PSG and/or Manchester United – or words to that effect, and those comments were not well received by Geordie fans.
We’re sure Yohan is a top class professional, and because of that he will be sticking in and getting himself fit this summer, and giving 100% to his current club.
But that will not stop him from moving to another club this summer, but only if an astronomical bid comes in for him.
And what Newcastle have to watch out for, is that we don’t get a very late bid for him in the transfer window, and then we are unable to replace, since that’s what happened in January, 2011 with a certain Andrew Carroll.
27 year-old Yohan is a good player, no doubt about it, and he seems to like playing at Newcastle, so we really hope we can keep Cabaye at the club for the upcoming season.

It is cod here in Malawi at the moment, the winter month of July is not fun, it drops as low as around 15 degrees here somedays! It is odd that I actually now find that cold and wrap up in jumpers for anything below 20!
As for Ashley rectifying the Kinnear situation, who knows. Maybe Kinnear will surprise us and wrap up 3 top players in the net fortnight, unlikely, but got to cling on to some hope. The other question is would Ashley want to rectify it? I had hoped that him getting involved personally in Jan was a change in his mindset, but the appointment of Kinnear, and the way we are dragging our feet is gradually draining that out of me.
On the plus side, I don’t feel that we have missed out on any players that were attainable that I would have wanted. Anyone joining a CL club was never going to come. Bony, maybe, but not convinced. After that I can’t think of many players I am sad to see elsewhere.

Comment #9when the season finished it was obvious to anyone watching the toon that a dominating left footed centre back and a striker was needed …since then they have let a back up keeper (harper) a utility player (perch) and a rb (simpson ) go …now we are looking at keeper have no natural cover at rb ..and now look like losing our only striker ….good job joe is on the ball…

Comment #13I wonder whether ManU are setting themselves up to be scalped like Liverpool. Newcastle know that if the bid of £30M plus for Fabregas is turned down that is the ballpark figure that they are prepared to pay.

Comment #15what lol? 4-3-3 was our best formation. maybe abeid isnt ready.put sissoko there i guess.
Debuchy is just a yellow card magnetic.tiote is bad. 4-3-3 we scored the most goals and conceded the least last season. a front three of gomis bent and gignac would WRECK then sissoko ben arfa and cabaye behind. dummet needs to grow into our best youth product.if you think jonas should start then lol? marv and anita to inconsistent. saylor wheres the geordie shirt like a man possessed.

Comment #17Jeff – you speak nonsense.
Mbiwa over Saylor anyday – simply because Saylor is a a geordie that shouldnt make any difference on the line up.
Abeid has done nothing apart from look half-decent for the reserves. Your front 3 would not WRECK

I wonder whether Guus Hiddink stepping down from Anzhi will change Cisse’s pimp’s mind about flogging him off to the Russkies?

Comment #21Right now our team as it stands our best formation is 4-3-3 with the current players in my opinion.
———————– Krul ———————–
Debuchy — Mbiwa — Coloccini – Santon
—————————————————–
——— Cabaye — Tiote — Sissoko ——–
—————————————————–
Ben Arfa ——— Cisse ——— Marveaux or Gouffran
Subs: Elliot, STaylor, Haidara, Anita, Jonas, Gouffran or Marveaux, Shola or Campbell

Comment #24Blanc has said that he is only looking to strengthen PSG’s midfield now. I imagine that they will put in a bid for Cabaye pretty soon. Hopefully we can get some players in exchange if he does go.

I would go with that formation but with Goofy instead of Marveaux, especially at home. Goofy appears more direct than Marveaux.

I like Gouffran, he has pace, hes good in the year (an attribute we should use more often this year given how small he is, player for player he should grab a few goals) and he works hard.
Marveaux for me is more exciting, more skillful and creative.
The perfect player would be blending both together, but I feel in a team where you already have Ben Arfa as a skillful player, and alot of creativity in Cabaye and Sissoko Gouffran could well be the better option.
It certainly is a good question which you would prefer.
Anita/Tiote debate is another one, or Mbiwa/STaylor.
I feel Tiote is more aggressive and his presence is more noted than Anita, although not as technically gifted. Mbiwa is certainly the better defender than STaylor, with arguably just as much commitment as his character makes up for the passion in the shirt STaylor has.
