Time To Turn To Strikers Other Than €12M Gomis?

10:43 pm, Friday, July 26th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 193 Comments

The news today is that Lyon want a ridiculously high €10M (£8.5M) for their striker Bafetimbi Gomis plus a 2M (£1.7M)  bonus, that Newcastle United must cough up to land Bafetimbi Gomis – according to reports in France.

batefembi gomis

Bafetimbi Gomis – Lyon want over £8.5M for striker with one year left on contract

As we reported this morning L’Equipe are saying that Lyon President is asking a ridiculous price for his striker,  who could be picked up as a free agent in less than twelve months.

There’s no way Newcastle should pay that amount out for Gomis, and if Lyon will not come to their senses,  then Newcastle should turn to some other targets – like Loic Remy for example.

Remy is available for around £8M, which is what Newcastle bid for him in January, when he decided to join QPR at the very last moment for more money.

There seems no reason why Newcastle cannot try to push through a deal for Remy, and still monitor the situation at Lyon, since we need two strikers brought through the door this summer, not just one.

We don’t blame Newcastle for being held up on this particular transfer,  if the news being reported in L’Equipe is accurate, and after failing to turn up for a meeting with Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas yesterday, the whereabouts of Gomis is unknown.

We wonder if he’s following Ben Arfa’s example and getting on a flight to Newcastle? :D

Certainly he has made his representatives know that Newcastle is his preferred destination.

But if there is an impasse with Gomis – let’s go after Loic Remy and get this lad signed up – soon.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

    Reckon Gomis is trying to lower his fee to match the Toons valuation of him.

    All speculation of course.

  • 13 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:05 PM

    KT97,

    It all seems to be Lyon wanting too much.

    By not turning up at this crunch meeting today though, I get the feeling he is just trying to p1ss the president off and eventually he will accept the fee Newcastle are offering.

    5-6 million is about right, the lad is only 27 with a good goal scoring record lately.

  • 14 Uncertain Toon // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:06 PM

    If he’s been briefed by Benny on how to get to the toon then all good and well, but does that mean there’ll be a broken leg in the not too distant!!!

  • 15 jimmysmith // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:12 PM

    The Lyon presiident is full on taking the piss. He must know Ash is tighter than a nun’s wizzer. He’s just winding up his old pal, Gomis. It’s a time honored footballing tradition for the top brass to despise their cattle and the French are the most appalling elitists. I actually think if anything this just brings any deal closer. Lets face it, one way or another he’s off and not for anywhere near that figure.

  • 16 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:13 PM

    Speaking of Benny,

    We need to tie him down now on another deal or he will walk away for next to nothing next year also. Just like Gomis will this window.

  • 17 jimiley // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:14 PM

    It is fantastic supporting a club with great stability and a terrific owner and management team. We can now reach for the stars. I am confident we can now get a top 6 finish and with some luck perhaps a top 4. MA is gearing th club for long term success and within a few years there is no reason we cannot be challenging for the title and the European Cup. lets all get behind Mike and Joe and Percy.

  • 18 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:17 PM

  • 20 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:21 PM

    I do believe that we’ll sign someone but I’m getting fed up with Pardew saying we’ll have someone by this weekend or that weekend. I’ve no doubt that he’s being told this by JFK and/or others, so he must be getting pretty annoyed at relaying these statements that don’t turn out.

    On 25 January 2013, Ranger was arrested on suspicion of rape in a Newcastle hotel room.[23] In connection with the same alleged offence, Ranger was charged with rape on 8 July 2013.

    If you were to sign for Newcastle why would you fly into Heathrow?

  • 36 Uncertain Toon // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:35 PM

    Toon Prodigy,

    Good spot that about Benny mate, sure they’ll have to get it done by chrimbo or word will get out and the vultures will start circling! I wonder what wages he is on, a new contract for him(especially approaching his peak) will have to include a pay rise and even more so if he’s top boy this season. Can’t see past the fact that Mashley will cash in rather than break wage structure. Sh*t, the more I think about that situation the financial benefit would be to sell him now mate! Mashley has to see the downside of hovering near relegation with regards to players values. It goes back to last summer again doesn’t it? If they’d have invested properly, less pressure would have been on benny, he may not have got injured and been star man. The upshot of that would be a 20 million price tag now.

  • 37 faustino asprilla newcastle // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:35 PM

    believe me, if we buy only Austin and Rhodes in the rest of the summer break we would have so exciting team, so NUFC spend 15 mil on this two lads and future is here

  • 38 Sazzer // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:36 PM

    It would be feel awful even worse if he have injury-free season behind him.

  • 41 p // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:38 PM

    ruddy, depends where are coming from in France. There are limited options between NCL and France.

    It’s all speculation anyway.

    I saw alleged quotes re. Goofy being 1 of our main strikers for 13/14

    Would not put it past them now Shola and Cisse are no on the move

  • 42 sweendog // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:40 PM

  • 44 croftus5678 // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:42 PM

    @40 p

    the goofy being one of our main strikers is true buddy.
    pards has gone public with how well goofy has played as a striker and said next season he will add more goals.

    and yes looks like shola is staying (unfortunatly) although personally i dont even like the thought of us having him as an option.

  • 45 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:42 PM

  • 46 The Arizona Geordie Pizzicato // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:43 PM

    It’s rather a good thing is Goofy is one of our main striker coz he really is… make sure Pardew use him as a proper striker.

  • 54 lesh // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:46 PM

    What on earth’s going on, or seemingly not going on. Ok, they’re Ed’s words ‘….but then Newcastle should turn to some other targets – like Loic Remy for example.’

    Should turn to other targets? Thought we were active in bringing Remy in! If we’re not, then somebody should be sacked. It must occur that as time passes by and our options become limited then prices and demands will rise.

    Can we have Llambias back to get players over the line. It’s clear that Kinnear can’t cope and it’s really time for him to get his pipe and put his feet up. Retirement must seem like an attractive proposition – although Mrs K might have some reservations about him mooching around the housr£

  • 57 Sazzer // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:50 PM

    Yeah we should get least one of Rhodes and Austin.
    We know Austin you can get at 3.5 m £ even is his should might be a ticking clock. With Faye fitness fixes he’s going to be fine. Worth the gamble in my opinion as 4 th striker.

    Rhodes going to be 10 m £ but he’s only 23 years old. Even if he flops we could recoup most of it.

  • 58 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:51 PM

    Uncertain,

    I’v debated this a few times over the past 3 months in regards to Benny.

    The arguments were has he really produced enough, 10 assists and 11 goals or so in 56-57 appearances in his attacking role.

    Obviously injuries played a big part in that. If he is fit he is the best player at the Toon, another season like last though and it’s not worth it through my eyes.

    It’s all good having him, but if he is not on the park what good is he? Can’t see this messing on with signings helping his decision either, he spoke about the lack of ambition before the January window.

    The Toon need to be careful with him I think.

  • 59 jimmysmith // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:51 PM

    I do agree that Gouffran is a central striker first and foremost, whether he’s good enough is another thing. Remy to play primarily on the left of a front three, with Gouffran as a back up utility striker seems the way to go. Gomis, the 2nd priority, but both would be splendid and enough to rekindle my hopes, which are frankly almost dashed as things stand.

  • 60 Uncertain Toon // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:52 PM

    Croftus,

    Agree totally about “The Shola Option” from the bench pal. The thought worries the feck out of me. Pardew might have rebriefed himself and wants to change his style of play, but after 60 mins when we’re 1-0 up………. You know what I mean mate. I’d definitely pop a rivet if I see that debacle occur again!

  • 61 Teamstoof // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:53 PM

    It’s become my default setting with you :P

    Well I suppose getting Gomis through the door would be a positive, even if I’d rather a different type of striker, at least it’s one more ST between the first XI and Shola.

  • 65 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:55 PM

    Yeah, let’s but a 23 year old striker from the Championship for £10M who has never played in the top flight. Much better than an international with CL experience…obviously…

  • 66 Miguel // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:55 PM

    Least he will be free next season

  • 67 ToonDarnSarf // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:58 PM

    Ruddy

    Yeah, I’d like a Remy type too. But we do need a physical presence upfront.

    Would be a relief if we get this one over the line. I really think this will make us so much stronger than last year.

  • 68 Sazzer // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:58 PM

    If the Tony Tony Fernandes twitslips and hints from earlier today is true then Gomis might have met up with Remy at Heathrow. But most likely there are no direct flights.

  • 69 croftus5678 // Jul 26, 2013 at 11:58 PM

    in a perfect world i would say cisse and remy as i think they have a better chance than anyone to link together imo ! with a second force of gomis and goofy for cover and to change things around.
    but the 4 of those would have a great deal of versatility to deal with most formations and we would still have cover for international compititions.

  • 70 NewcastleMole // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:03 AM

    Appears we’re at a crossroads in our purchase of Gomis with the club only prepared to offer 6m and lyon demanding 10m.
    It also seems we’re trying to get Bent for 6m and villa want 8m.
    Could of had Aubameyang if we were prepared to pay what it takes, granted Dortmund would appeal to any player plus they’re in the champions league. Then theres Bony who went to swansea because they paid what was required.

    We arent going to get a top striker for 6m.

    I hope we don’t get left behind, while other clubs strengthen.

    We were never getting Aubameyang, we had our chance in January, but he wasn’t prepared to leave St Etienne then so there was little that could be done regarding him.

  • 73 Uncertain Toon // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:07 AM

    Toon Prodigy,

    Aye, Benny’s stats don’t look to clever really, but I think the injuries or moreover the recovery from injuries have a lot of bearing. How many times have we seen him and thought he’s not match fit and then thought, hang on, he’s not even fit?! Fingers crossed that Faye bird can sort him out. I agree about being careful with him as he’s proved if he wants to go he’ll go.
    I’d love to see him have a belter this season and watch him in world cup. He’d probably have to make up with that Deschamps bloke, don’t know how that would go!
    Pardew seems to have the knack about handling him and keeping him happy.

    Mole, we pretty much had PEA all wrapped up by all accounts from France, including his club. It was even reported that our financial package was better than dortmunds, both fee and wages but he always said he would make the right decision for football reasons not financial, and he did so have to respect the lad for that. As you said Dortmund would appeal to any player over us.

  • 78 The Arizona Geordie Pizzicato // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:16 AM

    We don’t have CL football. Dortmund does.

  • 79 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:19 AM

    Uncertain,

    Aye it’s a tricky one with Benny, It looks like we are keeping him this window so I’d tie him down rather than let him walk if he becomes disillusioned next year.

    I think he has matured alot since coming to Newcastle, he has had bad fall outs over in France before he came here. Time will tell I suppose on that one.

    I’d love to see him play in the world cup though.

    It’s going to be interesting watching our French imports next year, well, so long as they are still here that is haha.

    I need to get some work done mate so i’ll catch up with ya soon ;)

    In 49 PL games he’s scored 10 and assisted 9. It’s good, and I agree, I’d love to see what he could do with a full season at full fitness.

    Lesh, In France, most of the boardroom teams are mental, so I doubt that would have put him off.

    It may have been the small reason of dortmund being one of the most progressive teams in the world, who are trying to revolutionise the way football teams train and use science to its full potential. Or that The German league is the best in the world.

    Ohh wait, that can’t be it! It must be all our clubs fault.

  • 101 Sarf Lahndan Toon // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:32 AM

    Remy? Baggage, or what? And only one good goal for QPR…. Turned us down once: so he can take a hike IMHO.
    Why are we obsessed with French players on this blog? Sure, Brits are not cheap; but, if they’ve got Prem experience, that counts for a lot. However technically proficient players are, coming from “the Continent”, the unique combination of headless-chicken running, unsympathetic pass- thumping and sheer greed of the Prem, makes it very difficult for those gracing other leagues to settle here. Not happy about JFK’s appointment, but, if he can keep his trap shut, maybe he will be able to save us unnecessary expenditure and foolish punts. I can’t understand the slagging off of loyal members of our squad. Shola can, if used properly, make a good fist of target – man: Campbell needs to play alongside someone experienced. There’s your strike pairing. Cisse off the bench, to “spell” the other two. Rotate the three accordingly. Only one more striker needed: can Vukic stay fit? If so, that’s four strikers, though I’ve always seen Vukic more as attacking midfielder. Hernandez would be a good signing for us, but don’t let’s hold our breath. Of far more importance to NUFC is decent cover in defence, especially central. Perch was a poor release: decent , flexible squad member. Brian Clough always built his sides from the back: so should we. Making ourselves difficult to beat is THE No. 1 priority. Forget all this ill-conceived sense of entitlement to attacking footie: KK’s “we’ll score one more than you” philosophy has left this club tragically deluded. Here’s another heresy: Allardyce was starting to build something reliable from which to go forward. But we slagged him off and sang that he didn’t know what he was doing. Who finished higher in the Prem last year: NUFC, under Pards, or West Ham under Big Sam? But we wouldn’t want Sam, or his main striker back, would we, even though Carroll’s one of ours and a better all -round striker than given credit for, especially by Toon fans, who seem to feel entitiled to the best fringe Euro-boys Carr can source. My Liverpool mates loved Carroll. But does Carr have Prem management experience? All he does is raid the Euro sweetie-shop for fancy-dan midfielders and frail defenders who can strike a midfielder’s pass and look “talented”, so they can showcase themselves at NUFC, before moving on to the Big Clubs and turn a small profit for Cashley. That’s no way to build a decent football club. And , on the subject of defenders, am I alone in wanting them to defend first, second and third? If our deep-lying overseas midfielders are so flipping good (yes, Cabaye: I’m looking at you), let them pick the ball from the defence and then start the attacks, instead of floating about like a bunch of prima donnas (Anita and , though no longer “overseas”, Wee Bigi excepted). There: a few home truths and pungent opinions for y’all to pick the bones out of (apologies for the grammar). Bring it ….

    Haway, bonny lads and lasses!

  • 102 Uncertain Toon // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:33 AM

    Manx,

    Is that 21 goals in 56 games right mate?, that’s nearly proper striking ratio that, I thought he’d only got about a dozen. Hope this Gomis buzz is genuine as he’s a massive upgrade on Shola(bless him). Still worry about the left wing although Santon looked quite handy the other night all be it in a friendly.

    Anna Gomis, French wrestler

    Bafétimbi Gomis, French footballer of Senegalese descent

    Émilie Gomis, French female basketball player

    Joseph Gomis, French basketball player

    Kafétien Gomis, French long jumper

  • 109 jimmysmith // Jul 27, 2013 at 12:38 AM

    I think Ash thinks he’s put together a squad that Pards should be making competitive as it is. I don’t think he’s prepared as is to pay over the odds for anybody ever, and that’s a problem when you’re one or two quality strikers underdone, despite what the owner might imagine. In fact, it may just lead to the unravelling of what has so far been achieved with this group of players. Joe get in his ear FFS.

  • 145 Shadow_Shearer // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:17 AM

    Gomez would be great. He can play that 10 behind Cisse. Has a good long range shot, can hold the ball up, and can make runs from deep, win header ect. Just doesn’t have the passing for a ACM, but can rotate around with Cisse, as he can do some nice flick ons. Plus Cisse can hit them from distance aswel.
    Its would be a good big man and little man partnership. And then we have a winger of either side of them. Hba and hopefully, Sinclair. And the wingers can rotate also.
    Sisoko and cabaye holding mids, cabs can start off a lot of attacks.
    Imo we can use this is a 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or 4-4-2

    shame is he we need to get players in now! Though i have a feeling gomis would be a bit of a flop though it could just be me being cynical again. I had the same feeling with bony though he’ll probs prove me wrong this season. Hernandez would be amazing if we got him however he should be going to a much better club then us sadly.

    Would have had hoilett when he was at Blackburn but not after seeing what he was like at QPR.

  • 148 Uncertain Toon // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:20 AM

    Shadow,

    Hoilett toilett! I don’t think the majority like the cut of his jib to be fair, however if we’re in for Remy(presumed bad boy) why not Hoilett, I get what you’re saying in that regard.
    Innocent until proven guilty with Remy should be the stance and I think floppy chops and fernando(or whatever his callsign is!) did a proper job on Remy in London. Sneaky gets probably got him pished so he wouldn’t get out of bed and come up here! Can’t put anything passed Redknapp mate.

  • 155 Sazzer // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:32 AM

    Remy scored 6 goals at QPR in 14 games.
    There is a lot of awful players with plenty of PL experience.
    Hernandez is great player…but by bringing him up that defeat your points on bring foreigners in that regard.
    I don’t see any place for Perch after we signed Mbiwa. I rather have us sell Perch and bring defender or midfielder that is better in the air or better than Perch. I would have like a higher transfer fee for him though.
    Consider that we could probably have Austin, Rhodes and Crouch for the money West Ham paid for Carroll.
    Shola is passed his best and Campbell haven’t reached his yet. They might have gotten us to playoff in Championship together this year. Also Carroll might still come back when West Ham gets relegated or gets into financial troubles or big Sam getting sacked. Then Campbell will be older. So put your hope on that.

    Your point on full backs is fine I suppose.

    So stop blaming Euro boys since it really bogs down to:
    Carr bad scouting
    Pardew bad influence
    Ashley lack of support
    or it’s to early to judge

  • 156 Mister Tuff // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:33 AM

    Hernandez is the same player as Cisse. There’s no need for us to have both of them. Neither create their own chances. Ideally Cisse would be on the bench and would come on if we were in search of goals. I reckon he would be a better impact sub like Hernandez or Le Fondre

  • 160 TurkishFan101 // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:49 AM

    That Watford player is Nathaniel Chalobah

  • 161 luke.r // Jul 27, 2013 at 1:53 AM

    Ive never heard of that lad or seen links with us and him.

    And there would be nothing wrong with sticking cisse on the bench if we were replacing him with hernandez, fella’s a top 4 striker in my opinion, really is quality.

  • 162 Uncertain Toon // Jul 27, 2013 at 2:02 AM

    Luque,

    No disrespect to Cisse mate but if i’m honest i’d rather have Hernandez i think.

    Mister Tuff,

    Every time I see ‘El Gourdo’ used on here it makes me giggle like a school kid! As geordies we do come up with some classic names for people. Don’t think it’s just us however I think it’s footie in general. Best one I’ve heard in the last few years is from my chelsea pal saying ‘FSW’. Didn’t have a scooby what he was on about and when he texted it’s ‘Fat Spanish Waiter’ I totally creased up. We can’t lose our sense of humour can we? If we lose that we’re done for!

    i wonder if he could buy his contract out and we could give him it back with the signing on fee, if 20k pw its only a million for the remainder. much better than paying 10 or 8 or 3.

    i am sure there will be a law against it but if i met some guy who knew gomis in a pub and suggested it to him we couldnt get caught.

  • 165 manxpie // Jul 27, 2013 at 2:10 AM

    on hernandez he’s only really been used as an impact sub by fergie so ya can’t really compare him to cisse

    Mister Tuff,

    Didn’t realise you came up with it, Kudos due there mate. You should of copyrighted it as i’m sure i’ve seen others use it on here!
    I’ve looked at all the toon blogs over probably the last 10 years and this is the one I decided to join.
    I would describe it(on a good day) as a nice blend of intellectual toon debate coupled with humorous side portions. More of a papajohns than a dominos!
    Tis easy to understand how people get angry with whats going on at the club and i’m sure other team blogs get the same way. I do find it a real shame though when people feel they can’t contribute anymore due to unwarranted abuse/argy bargy. Torq is probably a perfect example of this. I suppose some peoples’ skins are thicker than others. I think more humour is required to get us through this rough toon patch. John tudor tries his best but half them don’t get it, too dry maybe.

    ED – Only just seen the health update- Great news! Hope the good results keep coming!

    Long live the blog!
    ~~~~~~
    In other news- still really don’t want Gomis!
    That is if we actually sign anyone!
    I always thought we would make one first team signing like last summer which I thought would be a striker for about the same price as Anita (~5m).
    Now I’m not even sure we’ll get that incredibly mediocre result….
    Then again, if Ben Arfa stays fit this season then we’ll still have a good season- that’s how good I think he can be.
    I wish if we could bid for Karim Benzema, he is my dream striker and could well settle in quickly with the amount of French contingency we have.
  • 178 gonufc (not Arf' bad) // Jul 27, 2013 at 5:33 AM
    @Tubai – IF we’re talking dream signings then my favourite would be Rooney.
    People are exaggerating saying he has gone downhill in the last couple years- there were a few games last season (Despite being played CM!) where he still looked brilliant and was getting loads of praise. Now, as soon as there are rumours of a transfer he’s been ‘awful’ all season!
    So fickle.
    Anyway, that volley he scored against us. Just amazing.
    Going some of this gomis talk is true and he is signed by close of play Monday. I like the idea of Austin 4-5 mill, but I don’t think Blackburn will accept 10 mill for Rhodes unless the player wants out and forces a move.
    The chalobah link is rubbish, there is no way Chelsea would sell him and I doubt we’d loan him either. I still think Harry Maguire would be a good addition and then we could offload Williamson
    Going? Hoping! Stupid phone (or stupid operator)
    apologies, ED. I have just noticed your medical update that has been on since thursday. Really terrific news ( its like a new signing ) long may it continue . well done ED.
    Gomis is Okay
    But we could have done Better.
    France is becoming NUFC’s Comfort Zone
  • 183 89Norcal // Jul 27, 2013 at 7:25 AM
    Chicharito would be excellent, thing is I feel he thrives with proper service from his midfielders.
    Lucky for us, we have just that in Jonas and Obertan.
    Morning lads!
    So a month into the transfer window and more than two month after the season ended Newcastle realize that Gomis is too expensive for them?
    …we never learn do we; we could have find this out a long time ago. And Gomis is suppose to be one of our main targets (we haven’t even bid for anyone yet only vague rumors of a bid for PEA)
  • 185 SeanNufc87 // Jul 27, 2013 at 7:37 AM
    Im in a good mood today, I think we will see a flurry of transfers soon
  • 186 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 27, 2013 at 7:54 AM
    Well Sean…I have maintained nothing will happen on the transfer front before August so maybe next week ;-)
    …but not holding my breath!
  • 187 Spuggy // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:23 AM
    Ideally I wouldn’t want the greed and drama (conviction) around remy but he is probably exactly the wide forward player we need to compete with Gouffran and back up to HBA. We finished 5th bottom and beggars can’t be choosers.
    If we got remy (I don’t think we’re even in for him) then gomis would give us the muscle we need to drop sissoko back into CM.
    I do think however that we need more english lads so bent would’ve ideal from that point of view.
  • 188 Spuggy // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:25 AM
    On goals per game – it can be a misleading stat, as it doesn’t account for sub appearance in or out. Far better to use minutes playered v goals scored.
  • 189 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:33 AM
    Spuggy…I don’t know who we are after, but I sometimes question whether there are more than one maybe two players for each position on our shortlist.
    …and we we don’t get that player then what happened last season will happen (and it is happening as we speak)
  • 190 SeanNufc87 // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:38 AM
    Im thinking, if remy is too risky, bent/gomis are too expensive at 6m and a ridiculous 12 for Gomis, surely a cheeky 15m for Hernandez is worth a punt? Hes gonna want to play regular with the world cup, give him assurances of first team and a decent wage, around 65k with bonuses we could get him.
    Theres your prem experience pards.
    Plus hes mexican not french and speaks English already.
  • 191 toonarmydownsouth // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:45 AM
    Sean
    I’ve said so so many times but Hernandez could well be the best CF fit for NUFC
    He’s simply fantastic, he has everything and would thrive in this team!
    We can but dream
  • 192 jazzyp // Jul 27, 2013 at 8:59 AM
    Good morning guys-just gone through the night time posts,And according to TurkishFan Gomis is in town for a medical and we have signed a Chelsea player that has been loaned out to Watford , who we have bought and loaned back out !! .
    Did ya follow that. Only in the life of a toon fan eh
  • 193 Tubai // Jul 27, 2013 at 9:03 AM
    @gonufc, hey mate but i think benzema is an out&out striker and rooney lacks that goal scoring spree and also he is most often played in the no.10 role behind the striker, so that’s the reason i would prefer benzema to rooney as a striker atleast.
