Alan Pardew said he was quite happy at both the performance and the result this afternoon at Bloomfield Road, when Newcastle beat Blackpool 1-0.

Alan Pardew – pleased with the win

And it was another sparkling goal from Shola Ameobi after just five minutes that gave Newcastle their second pre-season win in four games, and their first clean sheet.

The Newcastle manger was pleased with his players enough as he had this to say to Sky Sports news immediately after the game:

“It was a good workout for us. It was a good win.” “In reflection, it was good preparation. We didn’t have our strongest side, therefore I’m very pleased to get the win.”

Newcastle were missing top players like Fabricio Coloccini, Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse this afternoon, but the Magpies still put in a good shift, especially in the first half when Newcastle were the superior side.

Next up is a game on Tuesday night at St Mirren with a 7:30 pm kick off time, and we are likely to see Coloccini, Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse in that game,. and we’ll see Cisse wear the Wonga shirt for the very first time.

Papiss agreed to wear the Wonga insignia after all last Thursday and that was some excellent news.

Now we want Joe Kinnear to sign both Bafetimbi Gomis and Loic Remy this coming week.

The Newcastle fans voiced their dislike of the new Director of Football at Blackpool this afternoon with chants of “Stand up if you hate Kinnear” and “Joe Kinnear, you’re having a laugh.”

Joe was interviewed today and he said his aim was to bring the players in that would have Newcastle challenging for a top for a top four place – soon.

Comments welcome.

We are helping Ingo Hagemann – an International MSc student in Sports Marketing at Northumbria University in doing a survey on the controversial sponsorship between Wonga and Newcastle, as part of his Masters dissertation.

Ingo needs still more completed surveys completed, after meeting with his supervisor, so please help if you can by taking the survey here – many thanks.
