There’s no sign of Papiss Cisse today, even on the bench, in the team that Alan Pardew has announced will play at Blackpool this afternoon, in a 3:00 pm kick off, and maybe that means we will see him at St. Mirren on Tuesday night in the new Wonga strip.
But the team is quite a strong one, and Mike Williamson will partner Steven Taylor, in Fab Coloccini’s absence, and Shola Ameobi and Yoan Gouffran will be up front in a 4-4-2 formation this afternoon at Bloomfield Road.
And it’s interesting that big Moussa Sissoko will be in the middle of the Park with Yohan Cabaye, and maybe that’s Newcastle best central midfield pairing in the coming season.
18 year-old Adam Campbell is again on the bench and we hope we see Adam get a decent run-out in the second half this afternoon, and Mathieu Debuchy and Davide Santon are the full-backs, and the two Internationals look like the starters for this coming season too.
Jak Alnwick, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic and Paul Dummett are other youngsters on the bench this afternoon.
For Blackpool Tom Ince starts, and we’ve been linked with the 21 year-old winger this summer in the transfer market, and former Gosforth-born Newcastle striker Michael Chopra starts up front for the Tangerines.
We want to see a good performance from the team today, including in the first half, and hopefully a decent win.
Teams:
Blackpool (4-3-3): Matt Gilks; Kirk Broadfoot, Gary MacKenzie, Craig Cathcart, Bob Harris; Barry Ferguson (c), Angel Martinez, Thomas Ince; Bobby Grant, Michael Chopra, Steven Davies
Substitutes: Mark Halstead, Massire Kante, Neil Bishop, Chris Basham, Isaiah Osbourne. Nathan Eccleston, Daylon Claasen, Tom Barkhuizen, Anderson Banvo, Jake Caprice
Newcastle United (4-4-2): Rob Elliot; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor, Davide Santon; Sylvain Marveaux, Yohan Cabaye (c), Moussa Sissoko, Jonas Gutierrez; Yoan Gouffran, Shola Ameobi
Substitutes: Jak Alnwick, Paul Dummett, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Haris Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi, Adam Campbell

Apparently, some players being held back for extra fitness training including Cisse, Tiote, Anita, Haidara etc and they will probably feature at St.Mirren on Tuesday night along with our new signings Gomis, Remy, Bardsley and Zoet……………..LOL

Pardews only idea on how to progress the ball up the pitch. The lad should have left the club years ago. A total and utter shambles that he is still being selected, only at the Toon. Can you imagine any other PL team persevering with Shola, my god give young Campbell a go or anyone, Pardew is lost without a target man.

Comment #7Calm down lads, it’s just a preseason all the players need match practice, no point fielding the best side every match when we may have to call on the b team.

Comment #11Back to the conventional 4-4-2, Cabs and Sissoko ‘should’ dominate the middle of park. With Sissokos power and Cabs precision should be to much for the Seasiders.
Hopefully Ince has a stormer and and we take him back to St James’s :D.

I don’t understand why some of our better players, HBA, Tiote, Hiadara and so on are being ‘held back’ for fitness – what better way to get fitter than to actually play a game?!
And where’s Cisse? Surely he needs minutes on a pitch?
Can’t help but feel wound up with AP yet a-bloody-gain.
Feel sorry for the no doubt large away support too, they’ll be subjected to the usual sh**e with that team (please prove me wrong).

Reports have us in advanced talks with Lyon for Gomis and Remy talks are said to be ongoing over a loan deal so it looks like both are realistic targets for us

Comment #14Classic, boring and bland Pardew team. Guaranteed to offer no inventiveness, no speed, no fluidity and very little idea.
I predict the same crap football we’ve been subject to the majority of the time under Pardew’s stewardship.
Oh and get some players in, noone is laughing anymore, joke’s well and truly over.

Comment #15NUFC.com has no tv coverage down for this game.
The cb pairing along with Jonas and the Ameobis I hope to not have to see at all in the final games in the run up to seasons opener.
It makes me sad any time I see an Ameobi on the team sheet.

He must be short of match fitness.
Does anyone else see this resolution involving him leaving the club?
Very odd, he isn’t injured, lacks match fitness and Blackpool is less than 3 hours away, he should be playing today!
Should have been Gouffran and Cisse on the pitch!

Comment #23expatmag – afternnoon/evening – could not get back to you yesterday as the ISP was having technical problems – got back online after 10 pm or thereabouts.
You mentioned the other day that you did not go croc hunting as you preferred swimming with great white sharks.
Yeh right – the only possible water based activities you will get involved in with “animals” is playing with a plastic duck in the bath.

For clarity who would you have played up top given business genius and best ever owner Mike Ashley has in his six years here sold or released 10 strikers while signing five in which only two remain at the club.
Disclaimer.
I have not googled this information so please point out in mistakes.

Not bad shout to try shola and gouffy with Cisse doing other work. Shola is top scorer so far. Give him a break until reinforcements arrive.

Comment #32Don’t mind them holding some players back, as long as its for the right reasons. If they aren’t fit enough or have a slight niggle then wouldn’t risk them as knowing our luck they’d get injured and be out for god knows how long.
Though I think we should be trying to win every match, especially after last season, it is only pre-season and really shouldn’t be to worried.

Comment #39Campbell is no where near PL quality yet. Howay man. Shola is ahead of Campbell atm.
He scores two goals and all people can say is sell him. Some fans are a disgrace. Could we have better – yes. Do we have gomis yet – no.
