Players of Shola’s height and weight don’t show their best form until they are about 38.

We need to give him 10 year contract asap before other clubs cotton on.

Gomis is like Shola on Steroids.

    @ Yo

Yeah I like the idea of a 4-2-3-1 with Ben Arfa in the hole and our wingbacks giving us width.

    Still a cracking team.

Yeh and three creative players in there too. Could always use Tiote when we need more DM than AM

    Evening Munster,

We called the Ba/Cisse situation right last summer – whats your angle for this season?

I think the biggest weakness in our team is Santon and Debuchy. Two full backs who can’t defend and 18 Prem managers who have got their cards marked.

Imo we are in for some big hammerings agaun this season. If we add some forwards we’ll do better than last season but not much better. 12-14th is my prediction.

Unless Kinnear signs some proper full backs and a decent DM that is. But that seems nowhere on the agenda.

From previous article, I know what you’re saying, but we can’t get away from the fact that because Lyon are skint Mashley will persevere with Gomis. Their financial situation is right up Mashley’s street and is the reason he is as rich as he is, preying on the weaker businesses.
While he won’t pay stupid money for players eg. 10 mill for Rhodes, i think money is not the major factor in the Gomis deal, it’s the getting what Mashley thinks is the best deal and really is just a case of beating them at business.
I hear you though, he has to draw the line somewhere because the longer it goes on the more impact it has at the coal face. Cisse must be thinking ‘where’s me strike partner, WTF is going on upstairs?’ I’m all for getting the best deal but not just so he can quench his thirst for some argy bargy at the negotiating table and the deal doesn’t come off!!!

Mashley should not pay more than 4 million for Gomis and 20k a week. We can always rely on Stroller and Wonga man. Any savings can be spent on grass seed and water botles.

Williamson was up for a corner. Though the video doesn’t show it clearly, the corner was played short then what you see is us crossing it in. It appears we scored from our first corner since 2011.

In my opinion, if I was MA, why would I want to outlay more than 15-20m on players after the season we had. He is not do, still similar squad to what we had for our 5th placed finish. Yes adding to the team is important, but I would rather outlay for 2 players in the summer and see our position come January. If we are mid table and showing good form, lets get another 2 purples in. If we are going strong, lets just add some more depth in case of injuries and if we are near bottom, find out why, get rid of the problem and again spend big. Spending our budget now will be a risk. I don’t think we will see big spending till next summer after we finish in a reasonable place and use the TV funds.
I know you all will have a go at me, but it doesn’t make sense to put 40-50m into the team that needs to be led better on the pitch.

Uncertain / newexpat – so what happens with 1 hour to go in the window and Lyon don’t budge?

It happened in the last window with Remy when we were left high and dry. It does not make good business sense. It is bad planning. We should have moved onto the next target and got him in.

I think it is simply dawning on everyone now, both in and around the club, that we are simply working on a stringent budget far tighter than the norm for a club our size, inflexibly and seemingly often unnecessarily so. Ashley may intervene when the job isn’t getting done. But the owners idea of job done, I’m afraid is quite far below the hopes and expectations of the greater majority. Starting to feel as though the heart and soul has slowly been leeched out of the club.

Not sure we are working on a tighter budget than we need to. Havent got the figures but we dont seem to made much profit cumulatively when the accounts have been released over the past few years. Surely then we are spending about right or we would be losing lots of money and accumulating debt?

If a club like say west ham, Norwich or Sunderland was to get relegated i would suggest they would be in deep trouble with what they have spent

According to lots of reports we struck a deal with QPR over the weekend and Remy arrived in Newcastle tonight. He is staying at the Hilton.

He will sign tomorrow. “A substantial loan deal” is all that is coming out of the reports.

I for one will never understand the finances of the toon mate. I suppose if we have broken even now and that extra tv cash comes at end of season then not much will be spent this window. There must be some pennies knocking about though, seriously after Pea and seemingly after Gomis&Remy. I just don’t know how it all works, is it right the finances are always a year behind?
Could we do a freedom of information request about toon finances? That would be interesting i bet!!!
Reckon if you did one of them under Shepherd cash would be disappearing left and right!!!

Billson, yes we were right about B aand Cisse. I’m quite negative for thsi season. If we dont find strike power we’re gooses. Completely agree re the two overrated full backs. Staggered that the players are slagging off Pardew pre season work of last year. Not a good sign. Swansea and Boswinga are owed many beers by Toon fans methinks. I like Pardew is some ways as a man, but he’s totally unsuited to these players, who could blossom greatly under a beatter coach and tactician.

Were a club the size of Newcastle to get relegated it would surely be down to serious mismanagement not overspending on the odd player. I’m sure the better players can also see us dragging our feet over a million here and there and missing out on players that would really lift the squad. There’s a bigger picture seemingly being painted here and it isn’t at all inspiring from where I’m standing right now. Of course, I recognize things are not likely entirely as I suppose, but it does very much seem that way.

I think the sky money is paid at the end of the year. So you would be spending now with the expectation of a big payment coming. The club release public accounts every year which im sure you can get hold of online. But im equally certain crafty accountants can move money around. Freddie proved that one 🙂

Now then, what exactly is the hold up here with the players?

Joe has been back off his holiday a week now – Still nothing.

The only thing I can think of is we are penny pinching once again, skimping on the budget we should be spending, just like everyone else. I don’t want to see us ripped off, but this is becoming pathetic now. We have no debt and the books are balanced.

While I don’t want to see Joe Kinnear here, and I really worry about his credentials in the job role he has, It’s Mike Ashley that sets the actual budget for what we can spend.

Im not buying any of this “it takes time rubbish”. There isn’t another club in the Premier who is as slow as what NUFC is. It’s actually bordering on embarrasing.

    What a carry on man.

For godsake get a move on NUFC.

7.5 months without a striker that was desperately needed back then.

7.5 months of hardwork scouting around Europe for Graham Carr.

DOF hired a week before the window opens, no plan what so ever.

    A holiday for Joe Kinnear.

And now, diddly daddling about trying to get the cheapest deals whilst we scrape the bottom of the barrell on the strikers that’s left in the window.

    You couldn’t write this script.
