Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has indicated that Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has been back in training over the last couple of days, and Pardew has been surprised at how sharp Cisse has looked.
Papiss Cisse - will play at last 45 minutes on Tuesday
On Thursday Cisse finally reached an agreement with Newcastle and Wonga to wear the Wonga insignia on his shirt and on his training gear this season.
And Alan Pardew has told Sky Sports News that Cisse looks to be in fine fettle:
“It’s unusual but nice to be able to talk about Papiss as a footballer, after all that has gone on, and I must say the two days’ training he has put in has surprised me.”
“He has looked in really good fettle, and he will have half a game, at least, at St Mirren on Tuesday night.” ” I am pleased it has all been sorted out, and we will bond round him now and support him.”
“We will try and get the best out of him, because he is an important player for us.” “It was a taxing situation for him but he is fine. We are a resilient bunch, in football. You have to bounce back in our world, or you’ll be in trouble.”
Papiss can play a big role for us this coming season, and I fully expect him to kick on and make a positive contribution.”
Newcastle had a good 1-0 win at Bloomfield Road on Sunday afternoon.with that other striker Shola Ameobi scoring the winner and the Nigerian International’s third goal in pre-season.
It will be great to have Cisse playing again for Newcastle, and we’re sure the Newcastle fans will give him their full support in the coming campaign, because he’s a big player for the team, and he scores those great goals.
